Ok, I've owned this guitar for over 6 months now and it's a great axe. I really enjoy bright sounding acoustics so if your in to a mellow sound this isn't for you. It took me about 3 months searching for a perfect guitar and i found it. I will not make this review just a goody-gumdrops make me feel better review though. It's gonna get nitty gritty.Hits:1.Bright sounding and carries far (i use phosphor bronze d'addario strings)2. When hooked up sounds as good as played normally3. GREAT price for a musician with a pinched pocket4. FISHMAN PREAMP!5. The onboard tuner works!6. frets are not buzzy5. tuners are really niceMisses: 1. When i first bought it, it had a very high action, but that can be fixed easily.2. The preamp cracked for some reason but i got it replaced for free (lifetime warranty)3. d string buzzed but it stopped when the preamp was fixed.4. The tuner button on my preamp FELL OFF! it was easily fixed at my local guitar shop.tips: make sure when you buy it there is no cracks on the preamp, if there is, send it back. If there isn't, loosen the preamp just a notch.2. REPLACE THE STOCK STRINGSHopefully this review will help you in buying your next guitar, in the end, this guitar is a beautiful piece of Fender.
I started looking at this guitar a while ago and eventually got around to buying it. It's great for the price, sounds real good and plays well. I've loved it except for the fact that it tends to eat strings. I strum rather hard so that might be the whole problem there, but it definetly eats strings faster than any of they guitars I've played previously. It is an amazing guitar overall though.
I'm a keyboard guy (MOTIF XS8, NORD, Moog...), but also play several other instruments; so I was looking for an affordable acoustic/electric... since all my friends pick on me about my old 80's Ovation... Anyway, they all own Taylor's and Martin acoustic/electrics... but I just didn't want to drop $1500 on something I play from time to time. However, I wanted a quality guitar with great warm wood tones - able to be be tinny or thick if needed. Well, I got this new Fender in the mail today - so I tuned it and plugged it in... WOW! This thing is amazing!! The electronics are first-class and the overall look and feel is awesome... I must have played for 2 hours straight before I put it down. If you're in the market for a quality acoustic/electric but don't have a thousand dollars... BUY THIS! In some ways, I think it beats a Taylor - mostly in the electronics and ability to get a full rich tone without complicated active tube driven DI's. I delayed at first because I kept thinking that there's no way this thing will sound as good as my buddies guitars... and I couldnt wrap my brain around a top of the line Fender Guitar costing this little... I thought something had to be up... but it's true - an awesome sounding, rich warm tone with quality Fishman electronics for this price... that is a stupid deal!! Jump on it before the price goes up - I bet these things sell fast once the word gets out about them! For the guys and gals at Fender - well done!
