Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

Overall this is a well built, good looking and good sounding guitar.

If you don't like the boominess of dreadnaught guitars you'll really like the even and resonant tones of the Fender CJ290S Jumbo. The frets are a little small and the neck is little chunky, but I think that improves the tone.

Plucking notes out of chords works great because the volume across all six strings is very even. The fact that I picked up this guitar at half-off the already resonable price through a deal of the day special jumps this baby from a 4-star to a 5-star deal. It also looks much better in person than it did in the MF addvertisement.

If you are looking for a well-built, lower-priced jumbo make a point to give the Fender CJ290S a try. Like me, you may find it totally satisfied your Jumbo G.A.S. yearnings.

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

What can I say? This instrument was "Eye Candy" right out of the box. I love the bright clear flamed maple appearance and it's hard to walk by it setting in the stand and not pick it up. I like the symmetrical look of the body of the jumbo less the cutaway. The contour of the body fits perfectly atop of my thigh. It has a rich, bright sound, and it stays in tune. Bottom line; for the price I paid for this guitar, it has exceeded my expectations. My only drawback is the pick guard. The adhesion is not very good & it will not stay pressed down.

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar (new) because it was marked down to a price lower than it sells for used. That's the truth. I've been a Fender fan for half a century. I could not say how many I've had over the years but now I have 5 left. (including a Custom Shop Rosewood Telecaster...) This CJ290S actually impressed me. It has a clean, bold sound that fills the room. Easy to play, and the wood is beautiful. I could mention a few improvements that would be nice, but it is what it is. An inexpensive, yet quality guitar. I would call this a very good value. Anyone buying this guitar, if it is like what I have here, will be a satisfied customer.

This fender jumbo compells me to write this as I have just put it back in its stand for the night. All I can say is without being technical is that I play this more than my Taylor's..It came set up perfect and plays and sounds just awesome. The action is better than any other guitar I own.Bone nut and saddle with x-bracing makes it all come together for a terrific instrument....I just love it.

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

I can describe this guitar with one word, "Balance"! It has a perfect balance of bass, treble and mid range, nice, bright, clear tone; which is hard to find; especially in the dreadnaughts which have mostly bass and poor mid and treble in the same price range. Balance in weight distribution, will not turn or roll when playing standing with a strap; while the jumbo shape contours perfectly to your thigh and lap when sitting and will not slip or slide like a dreadnaught. Excellent attractive gold sealed tuners; tune it once and it stays tuned. The neck is smooth and slender for quick easy play. I love the fret style, thinner, more square and taller than the usual round flat frets; giving clear, precise tones, forgiving if you are not exactly positioned and for newer players. This is my third new acoustic guitar, I have a jasmine and a MS 402 Yamaha which I played several years each in that order while learning and developing as a player; this new Fender Jumbo is in an entire new level of quality, sound, form and fashion! I cannot say enough about the Jumbo body design, that's all I will have in the future! Buy this guitar! Even better, buy this guitar from Musicians Friend! Legendary great prices, customer service, speed of delivery, and they stand by their customers, products and warranties!

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

Deep, thumping, and resonant lows. I play western swing and rely on lots of passing chords, and it is easy to bar chord up and down the neck with special light or even extra light strings.
Won't compress the sound no matter how hard I strum, and is really, really, really loud.
              Perfect for what I do.
Very clean construction, nice finish, good tuners, nice laminate maple, and a tight grained top.

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

This is a beautiful guitar that exudes quality construction, very good sound and low, comfortable action without any fret buzz. I just received it today and am very impressed with its factory setup and sound. I based my purchase on the previous good reviews here at MF and it appears to have paid off handsomely at a great price for a very nice, good sounding guitar. I have Breedlove, Martin and Blueridge dreadnaughts that I love and the Fender CJ290S is comparable in quality construction, flawless appearance and great sound. Mine came with low action with no hint of string/fret buzz. I believe the Fender strings on it are light gauge. Medium gauge will probably sound even richer and louder. Thank you Fender for bringing this acoustic up to compete with the other quality brands and thank you Musician's Friend for sending me a seemingly perfect copy setup just right and ready to enjoy hopefully for a long, long time.

I've been playing since I was @ 10 years old, I'm 55 now, have a room full of amps (some vintage all tube)dozens of axes electric. Two acoustics.
I purchased this guitar for my son for Christmas and the fact that he's playing the guitar and will one day have all my toys.
Now he will learn how to take care of his own guitar. Nuff said.

Comments about Fender CJ290S Flame Maple Jumbo Acoustic Guitar:

I am saving for a high-end guitar. I played Taylors, Martins, Blueridge, a Lowden, Gibsons while figuring out what I wanted and they are incredible. I needed one to serve while waiting. This guitar was on sale and is what I'm looking for in a geetar. Jumbo, natural, no cutaway, no electronics. I had a huge smile when I strummed my first G chord. Big booming sound, crisp, feels great. Yes it has laminated sides and back and is China-made, but it's nice. I've been played for 29 years and have had many guitars.
