This is my #1 guitar. I don't say that lightly either. I own over 20 and through my shop I have access to about 75-100 more at any given time. I have played this guitar at every single gig I've done since 2010. It has also been all over both of my band's records. It plays GREAT, sounds great, and almost never goes out of tune. (and yes, I use the trem constantly. I also live in Hawaii where the climate, humidity, and my altitude drastically changes all the time)This guitar is just incredible. Due to my use of fuzz and heavy overdrive, I did change the bridge pickup to a custom Novak JM humbucker. (basically a PAF in a JM pup cover)but the stock pups are great. I'm so in love with Fender for FINALLY fixing the design flaws and doing all the bridge/tailpiece mods for us. If you're in the market for a Jazzmaster or Jaguar, get the Classic Player. They are the best. Hands down, no discussion. They totally whip the Americans and 50th anniversary editions. THIS is the one! :)

No blame for this piece of ________ can be laid at MF's door........unless someone there "inspected" this instrument and passed it along as being ok. This guitar came to me with horrible setup-action worse than many no name guitars I have seen. The bridge pup does not work. Looking under the pick guard, I found 3 cold solder joints on the pus and tone pot. The shielding on the guard's underside is ripped and torn.
My first electric guitar was a real fender rental for lessons back in the early 1960's. My parents could not afford to buy it and I had to play something cheaper--quite like this jazzmaster clone. I have since bought various fender guitars, if you can really call them fenders--in my book they are cheap imports with a fender decal---anyway after having bought several "fenders" over the years--this will be the last one. I will add that I have two american made real fenders and I am very happy with them and my fender amps. This jazzmaster is not a total loss, I had planned to put Seymour Duncan antiquity II pups on later; I'm just doing it a couple of months early.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special Electric Guitar:

I've always liked the tone of the Jazzmaster. I favor a sweet, mellow type of tone and get it with the Jazzmaster. Thus, it's perfect for playing jazz. It's quite versatile and is solid for rock as well. A great instrument. I've had them all - you name it - nothing compares with the Jazzmaster.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special Electric Guitar:

I've always lusted after a real Jazzmaster. My guitar for the past two years has been a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster (which is an excellent guitar), but of course, there is a difference between a Squier and a real Fender. I really can't afford the American Jazzmasters, so when I found this guitar in the used section of my local Guitar Center, I had to buy it. Jazzmasters have always been my favorite guitars. The condition of the guitar was practically brand new as well. The previous owner still had the plastic film on the pickguard! It came with the nice gig bag and tremolo arm. I recently took the guitar on a three-week tour with a country band. With three weeks of constant live shows on this guitar, I feel confident in reviewing it. The pickups are very, very hot, which some folks will love! However, I am swapping out the pickups with more traditional Jazzmaster pickups. I like (trying) to play jazz, and these pickups are just simply too hot for the less-aggressive genres out there.
Other than the pickups, the wiring seems to be very solid! No knobs or switches crackle when engaged. The bridge is a step up from most other Jazzmaster bridges, but I am purchasing a Mastery bridge for this guitar. I use the vibrato arm quite often, and on occasion, some of the strings will become stuck on the bridge at a lower pitch. This mostly happens on the high E string. Every now and then, the string will catch on the bridge when I return the whammy bar to it's natural position. This causes the high E string to be much closer to a D sharp. I do use lubricants on the bridge and nut, and even in spite of this, it still happens. I also know that whammy bars tend to knock guitars out of tune every now and then, but the string is actually catching on the bridge. While we're talking about the vibrato arm, I have to say that it is truly a blessing that this arm screws into the socket. Overall, this is an excellent guitar.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special Electric Guitar:

Nope. The bridge doesn't solve the the jazzmaster problem. It makes it worse. Its got the typical saddle buzz that comes with tun-o-matic type bridges. The big problem is you can't replace it with something of higher quality because it has a 9.5 radius. Nothing on the market in this style of bridge with that radius. And no the mastery bridge doesn't fit either. Why can't Fender get it right? Copy the mastery bridge. Its the only one that works. Don't buy this guitar. Your going to have an expensive buzz problem on your hands.

Comments about Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special Electric Guitar:

This Jazzmaster is a solid, multi-toned, reliable instrument that delivers a clearly historic jazzmaster range of sounds. The build is solid. Like any new guitar, polish it, clean it, tune it, before you play it. Design is solid and stays in tune, bridge and vibrato are modified to provide maximum reliability, which is clearly the overall goal of the improvements here. Works great.
The flip side is that the tone is closer toa Stratocaster in some ways due to the new, more reliable set up.
The pick ups are great for clear tones and also carry harmonic richness through distortion and walls of distortion. :)
Great guitar, for players not purists. It is a beautiful tool.

I bought a gently used model. I had a hard time even finding the flaw in the finish at the neck joint. The guitar came setup perfect for my playing style. No adjustments, which is rare for me. Beautiful finish, great tone and playability!!
