The Fender Classic Player Telecaster Deluxe Black Dove is styled after the Telecaster Deluxe of the early 1970s with a C-shaped neck, bullet truss rod, and vintage hardtail string-through Stratocaster bridge. The Classic Player electric guitar features an alder body with a 1-piece maple neck with a 21-fret maple fingerboard and a Classic Fender Strat headstock. The dual Black Dove single-coil pickups have a smoky fat single-coil tone. This unique Fender Telecaster has a look and sound all its own and comes with a deluxe gig bag.

The Black Dove P-90s on this guitar are Excellent.
I have heard they were made by D'Armond for Fender
Not sure about that but these are great sounding
pickups and have great tone in all 3 positions.
The only issue I had for this guitar is that the
combination of the neck, nut width and slots, and
the "vintage" string spacing on bridge; 2 3/16",
caused the high E string to easily slip off the
fretboard. I had to change the bridge and neck to remedy this, but even before the swaps the guitar
sounded great and one can live with the slip-off
issue. Unusual guitar hybrid and exciting tones.

The Classic Player Telecaster Deluxe Black Dove is great. This tele is like a combo of a Tele, a Strat, and a Les Paul/SG Jr. The Black Dove pickups are very powerful through my Raven RG60, but there's still plenty of Fender-single-coil tone in there. The neck feels great, and the belly cut contour feels great (I hesitated getting a tele due to the lack of contours.) The hardtail-strat bridge is a little odd, but it keeps it in tune. The volume and tone knobs are a bit ugly, but those can be changed. I personally love the look of the all-black body combined with the maple neck, though a friend of mine said it looked like a "cheesy-flea-market guitar." I disagree I think it looks great. The only reason I gave a 4.5 instead of a 5 on quality is because the guitar was in desperate need of a set-.. It had some of the worst fret buzz I've ever heard. After a professional set-up and new strings, it sounded great. I play alternative rock myself, but it's very versatile. Highly recommended.

I'm reviewing this right out of the box, pre-set up. Strung with10s the action was very low, neck straight with no relief (I'm notcomplaining, I like to set my own relief) and the saddles were highup already. The sound is what I'd hoped for, fat P-90 sound ona Tele. They hype it as a "rocker" but I will say it has a great blues sound. Really nice. I only use tube amps so I don't knowwhat a solid state would sound like. The pick up position switchseems a little cheap but time will tell. Youtube has someone demo-ing it and it is what I hear. I love Telesand am glad to have the sound of this guitar. Is it worth the price?I don't know but that is what you have to pay to get one.Nice belly contour, regular Tele weight give or take. Fat "C"profile with 12" radius, good for bends, vibrato.
