If you are looking at this guitar because you want something affordable and like strats then by all means look no further. Actually, you know what, if you are looking for a strat type guitar in general look no further. Why spend all the extra cash on american made when this is just as good if not better. Honestly, I have played many guitars in my day from squires to full custom shop masterpieces and all I can conclude is that this is the best guitar I have ever played. Lets go through why I believe you cant buy a better guitar for the money and for that matter for less than 5 times what this sells for. First of all, its the features. This thing has hardware exactly like you would find on an American made strat. The bridge assembly for instance is exactly the same, including the tone block as found in the American vintage bridge. The wood used in its construction is American wood, shipped from California to Mexico for assembly at the Mexican plant. Sure the pickups are made in Mexico, but they are among the best voiced single coils in the world in my opinion. They are a fairly low output but when set to the right height, they can scream and chime with the best of them. The bridge pickup is a bit of a weak point, but then again, think of vintage pickups from the 1960s. Back then, they didn't wind bridge pickups hotter and this guitar is meant to be like one you would buy in the 60s. As for the action and playing feel, I think this guitar improves your playing like no other will. The action isn't low but somehow it feels right. The vintage 7.5 inch radius fingerboard is just right for anything apart from sweep picking, but I'm sure someone could prove me wrong. The vintage profile frets feel perfect with the rosewood fretboard and allow you to get in close to the wood and feel the connection with the instrument. If you want something easy to play, this may not be for you, but if you like me think the greatest rewards lie in a bit of a challenge, then this guitar will reward you for years to come. You will never feel better than this guitar. All this being said I will say that this may just be my guitar, be sure to play a few of them and find the best one for you. Also, fender set ups are always terrible so take the time to set the action, intonation and pickup height when you get it. Pickup height is massively important to get the sound you want. The reason I put a 4.5 for quality and a 4.5 for features is because of personal taste. I believe that all fender bridges are scope for improvement, hence my addition of a Callaham unit, and also my slight preference toward a hotter wound bridge pickup. The final area that could be improved is the pots and caps in the wiring. I think all fenders including American can benefit from a signal chain upgrade and of course a treble bleed circuit. these however are more general Fender complaints then criticisms about this guitar. This thing punches massively above its weight. If you have the money and want a 60s style strat, look no further. I think you would need to go to the 60s and buy a brand new Stratocaster then to get anywhere near the sounds and vibe that this thing has. For this price, this is a total no-brainer.

it looked amazing, a 60's candy apple red with rosewood fretboard and aged parts. i made it sound like hendrix with a cry baby through a marshall. the neck had a problem, though. the 17th fret would buzz like mad on the 1st string. this was the second guitar i got, the first also had a neck problem. play hendrix and pink floyd solos and try not to notice the buzz. can't. still, a good value for the buck. play it thoroughly before buying. check for the buzz.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Purchased 57 classic player and it was wonderful right out of the box. I then purchased the 60 classic player but the strings buzzed between 5th and 12th frets and the intonation was way off. Tried to set intonation but the saddle heights could not be adjusted. Allen wrench supplied with guitar did not fit saddle adjustment screws nor did any Allen wrench sets I have fit. I returned the 60 classic to Musicians Friend with no hassles.

    Tuning nightmare

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I just finished "trying" to play a black one at my local store, wanting truly to like and possibly buy it. The danged thing wouldn't stay in tune long enough to switch from tuner mode to amp play mode. Darned shame. The neck felt great. The finish was good. Appearance was real nice (black w/mint p/guard).

A quality instrument for the price

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've had this guitar for 6 months now. Being the owner of several American strats, I wasn't sure if I should buy a MIM. I'm glad I did. This is a really nice guitar. The pups sound just like the original 60's Strats. Owning a couple of vintage Strats, I really appreciate the 7.25" radius fretboard. The only problem I have experienced with this guitar is that the bridge saddle for the high E string lowers by itself. The adjustment screws back out from heavy playing, causing the string to fret out when stretched. Re-adjusting the screws fixed the problem for a while. I have since applied some lock tight to the adjustment screws and I think the issue has now been solved for good. Otherwise, for the money, you can't go wrong with the guitar. I house it in a vintage tweed case. I find myself playing it more than my American Strats. Shame on me!

    Great Strat

    By Jeremiah

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar as a present to myself after selling my PS3. I picked up the Blue one at a local music shop for $500. It is one of the the best guitars i have ever played. Much better than the typical Mexican strat and almost, if not as good as an American. The pick ups are a bit noisy, but this thing is versatile. It's my go-to-guitar and i use it for almost anything, practice, recording, live, all. You will not go wrong with this instrument.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I like this guitar a lot. One of the main reasons I wanted a strat was because all my heroes play them Frusciate, SRV, Beck.. etc. The guitar itself is beautiful and way prettier than the pictures on here (I got mine in 3 tone sunburst). When I got it the guitar was not setup and everytime you try and lower the strings below like 1/2 inch theres buzz everywhere which is ridiculous.. Im gonna take it too someone to fix it.. The sound and everything else is awesome though. You would think paying this much for something they would put more effort into it though.

Needs a little work, but then... Wow!

    By Coredweller

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

In the beginning, I disliked it. The sickly green faux vintage pickguard, the noisy vintage circuit, the non-reverse wound middle pickup, and the pickup selector switch that felt a little flimsy. I replaced the single coils with a combination of Fender noiseless and DiMarzio Area 58 pickups, then I replaced the pickguard and added my favorite strings. The difference was shocking. This has now become a truly amazing guitar. It feels great and sounds great. I never expected such a dramatic improvement. I still have a couple more tiny details to correct, but nothing significant. If you don't mind spending a little more time and money to upgrade it, the Classic Series '60s Stratocaster is a wonderful bargain for a Stratocaster.

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar a year and a half ago and I've loved the way it played since the beginning. But there was always this thing bothering me about it. The pickups sounded like they were picking up a lot of interference. I took it apart and I saw that there was only shielding on the control section of the scratchplate. If you buy this guitar you should definitely go to guitarnuts.com and read up on the section about shielding your guitar. I performed the modification and the guitar sounds unbelievable. The pickups are hot and ready now!!! USE CAUTION when trying this guitar out! . You'll probably end up taking it home with you!!

    FABULOUS STRATOCASTER !!!

Comments about Fender Classic Series '60s Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

True story. I've been playing for a long time and have owned some fantastic guitars. So here it goes... This is by far the cream of the crop. After you set it up, it will melt in your hands. The sound is true vintage Fender, bells and chimes everywhere. The U-shape neck will make you a better player. And if you want it to scream it will leave you begging for more. I bought my used, in mint condition, and I pity the guy that got rid of it. Play it through a tube amp and you'll be thanking me.
