Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1960 Stratocaster Relic Electric Guitar:

Random series of events led to me trade a 1966 bone stock original Sunburst Stratocaster to Guitar Center for a dot neck 335. A few other pre-CBS instruments were involved in the trade. I am a huge vintage fan. I liquidated my collection to acquire a '61 335 for neck. I needed a back up...I record and perform, and like a wide brush to paint my songs. I was intrigued by the relics. The price seemed high, relative to an amazing vintage for a few quid more. But alas, these guitars have soul. I was made an offer I couldn't refuse. I play it side by side with my '61 335. It's got soul, and at this price point, is as good as it gets if you cannot afford good vintage. These guitars closely mimic the feel of the neck (albeit with missing variations), the weight of the body, the resonance, and the sound. These are very interesting pickups, capable of extraordinary clarity and packing a serious punch. It is not a "grey bottom" knock off to my ear, but is quite remarkable, indeed. I really do like the fact that I have a knock off of my old '60 and it already has nicks and dings. I can't put it down! Play one, you'll get it.
