A Custom Shop beauty that replicates a battle scarred '68.

Featuring a heavy relic treatment, this 1968 Stratocaster has the look of many years of hard use on the road. The guitar's premium ash body wood has great tone and is lightweight for playing comfort. The quartersawn maple U-shaped neck has the finish worn off the back for a great, played-in feel. A dark Indian rosewood fingerboard sports pearl face dots, and 21 smaller 6105 frets. Custom Shop 1969 pickups have the sought-after sound of yesterday with the benefits of modern wiring. Schaller "F" tuners, aged hardware and cigarette burn on the headstock complete the dream.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

The BEST Strat I've Ever Played

    By Mark-zcX3S

    from Florida

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1968 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is the finest Strat I have ever played. The combination of the quartersawn neck, the hand wound Abby 69 pickups, and the resonant body, make this guitar incredible. I wouldn't sell it for 5x what I paid brand new. It's funny and very obvious that all the haters posting in regard to this guitar have never owned one, and clearly don't get it. If you are comparing a MIJ guitar with parts to this CS 68, you haven't got a clue.

    Custom Shop Worthy!

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1968 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is my 2nd Custom Shop Fender and I have played several others, hands down, this one is the real deal. Quarter sawn headstock/neck, '69 pickups. A blues machine, I played this at a small church and had people come up to me afterward commenting on the tone! I have a vintage white one, and through my Hot Rod Deluxe this thing sounds amazing. Price is a little high, but if we as musicians know anything, it's you get what you pay for!

    WHy, oh why?

    By Minor9th-Xtw5n

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1968 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I don't understand buying a Fender Strat at this price. Yeah, it's a nice guitar but come on, the aged thing is just so absolutely ridiculous. REAL aged guitars have a certain mojo to them. But guitars created to look aged like this? It's just so lame I cannot even express how lame that is. I would be more than embarrassed to show up anywhere with a brand new guitar with purposely done wear marks - and the cigarette burn? OMG - buy a new un-aged guitar, shove your cigarette under the low E string and let it burn down to mar the guitar. Then play it for years until it is worn in to YOUR OWN body, your own hands and fingers, your own belt buckle. WOW - I cannot believe anybody would buy a guitar like this. This guitar would be complete with blue jeans bought with pre-ripped, symmetrical holes, and a pre-rippped t-shirt, a hair band-type perm, a baseball cap on crooked (halfway between front and side) all being carted around in a KIA Sol with Red Bull graphics all over it. Can you say tacky, cheesy, and kitschy?

    way overpriced strat

    By pickingandgrinning

    from Nashville, TN area

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1968 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have a MIJ '68 Reisuue, I traded the pickguard complete with pickups & electronics with an American Standard Strat, and it is the best Strat I have ever had, ($375 used). I sold two new American Strats and kept this MIJ Strat because I liked the way it played and felt better. Anyone who buys a new guitar with part of the finish sandblasted off and a cigarette burn has a brain that is not firing on all cylinders in my opinion, if I pay this much for a guitar it better be beyond flawless perfection. You can probably find a vintage guitar for that price, or buy a couple of new Gibson Les Pauls. Artificially aged guitars are for wannabees.

    Good little shredder

    By ShredTastic

    from Van, by river

Comments about Fender Custom Shop 1968 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this on a lark. I was looking to replace my trusty FirstAct (broken string) and I saw this and ordered it - the free shipping made it irresistible. I don't know what happened, must of gotten tossed around a bit on the delivery truck, a lot of scratches and a bunch of dents. How about some QC Fender? For this kind of money I expected a better finish. Also, I don't like the strings that came on it. They were really sharp, but I sanded them down a bit and they are okay now. Overall a pretty good axe to shred Metallica, finger pick bluegrass or play my favorite Trans Siberian Railroad tunes on.
