This is a great Strat. It has a 3-way switch but coems with a 5-way, in case you like the out of phase tones. The pickups on this thing are just about worth the price alone but I do feel the guitar is a little steep price wise. But yes it is vastly superior to the Standard American Strat.
Had this guitar built for me by fender custom shop, and after several months on a waiting list, it was finally finished. I received it about a month ago, and i can honestly say that this Strat was definitely worth the wait!! It has wonderful action, an amazing, beautiful tone that can belt out SRV like it was built for it, and the weathered "relic" treatment really gives it a cool and experienced exterior! Although fairly pricey, it is completely hand crafted and is a well built blues machine! The 60's Relic truly looks and sounds like it has lived through the best the 60's had to offer, and is incredibly hard to put down!
This is the finest Fender I have ever Played, bar none. The resonance on these guitars is unbelievable. Even just strummed accoustically you notice the difference right away. I have played the original 60's pieces in the past and this not only measures up, it surpasses most of them. My only cave at would be that you play as many as you can before buying. No 2 play exactly alike. The only other axe I have that comes close to this quality of feel is my 59 Custom Shop Les Paul. My advice, buy it if you can afford the scratch, you won't regret it.
Beautiful birdseye maple neck, slight checking and wear, and fantastic playability. Can do the SRV to Blackmore thing. love it!
Yes, a great guitar as I've said. Stunning price!
