If you want a guitar that has heavy distortion then this is not the guitar you want. It is perfect for my use as a Blues guitar. I play mine througgh a VOX AD100VT on the UK Gain amp selection with power output and gain to max. It absolutely Rocks my house making the bodies of the acoustic guitars resonate and strings to chime from the harmonic perfection of this guitar. Put power output and gain to 50% and play any pickup position and get crisp and clean tones. This guitar is not for everyone and especially if you want heavy distortion. I have +30 other guitars for that. The only other guitar I would want is a American Deluxe, but with a 12" radius neck, not a compound neck and a leftie strung right-handed. The 12" radius is best suited, for me, ergonomically. I got mine on Muscian's Friend as a closeout. Someone probably bought under the wrong assumption possibly thinking it would be good for Heavy Metal and expecting heavy distortion from some of the reviews I have read. How it looks, mine is a blonde, and the gold plating wearing off, who cares. For a under $1000 guitar I feel comfortable playing it at Jams and Gigs. I get the tone I want from it and have guitars with humbuckers to get all the other tones. For high gain and definition this is the best I have played. I have a American Special with the 22 jumbo frets and hot Texas pickups, but the neck feel and tone is unique only to this guitar.

This guitar lacks the quality value of some of Fender's better models. Although they have incorporated an ash body, noiseless pickups, vintage tuners and tremolo, the guitar just doesn't live up to it's hype. small defects such as poorly set tremolo screws, and a bowed neck are defects that should have definitely been caught by quality control. body and fretboard are nice and smooth, painting of the body was exceptionally good, the actual scheme of paint and the tortoise shell pick guiard makes this guitar look classic, however, the defects make it fall short.
Overall, I bought this guitar because of it's looks and based on fender's reputation for quality instruments, however, I should have probably saved my money and bought an american standard strat. I have an American standard telecaster and It was awesome right out of the box. still playing it with no additional setup needed. Fender needs to review it's mexico plant and get it's quality control up to speed if it's going to charge this kind of money for it's products.
I would try this guitar out, if you can find one in a store, before buying as it may be as good as advertised. Mine wasn't, but I can make it better, someone with less skills, may not be able to. I'll make this into a great guitar, however, I wish Fender would do it first.
I knocked off points for features as the so called "noiseless" pickups still emit a slight buzz. It's not too bad until you begin stomping pedals and adding gain, Then it gets a little annoying. I will have to isolate the cavities and pick guard with copper foil and re ground the system. but that should have been taken care of at the factory. Also, the extra switch does little to enhance the sound when engaged. It is barely noticeable. I bought this thinking this would be useful however, I don't think I'll be using it.
Although the guitar finish itself is beautiful ( 3 tone sunburst) there were some quality control issues with this guitar. first of all, I notice the screws hold the vintage tremolo were halfway out of the wood allowing the tremolo to float extremely high. the neck has a slight forward bow to it. I am going to have to take this to a luthier to get a professional setup done to get this totally playable. Also, I'm not too crazy about the 12" radius fret board. they should have used the 9.5" radius fret board, but, that's a personal preference.
I rated this low because of the quality control issues. the pickups do not sound as good as what I saw on the youtube videos which is why I bought the guitar. I may have gotten the lemon out of the batch, however, I am keeping it and getting the work mentioned above done to it because of the extremely good "bones" of the guitar, an ash body, rose wood neck (I can get used to it) noiseless pickups( when isolated) and getting the tremolo set up right. I would like to see a little better quality control from the plant if they're going to produce guitars of this price range. I think they are basically good guitars but need a little more "TLC" before leaving the plant for the warehouse and eventually the stores.

I have been a Strat man for quite some time. I originally owned an SRV Strat but did not care for the location of the Tremolo Bar. This Deluxe Player's Strat is perfect for my needs. I am very happy with it! Who wouldn't be, it's a Fender!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Simply put, it's a great guitar for the price. Everything about it from the play-ability to how well it holds a tune is just great. The only thing I have an issue with is I can only play on 1 or 2 setting with my amp or on the guitar due to it being relatively quiet. My amp is a bit older (10ish years)but some newer ones may not have an issue. But all together its a great strat for the price.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

First Off I had to re-set the tremolo Bridge about a millimeter.. definitely a quality check that was missed... The top was just barely on the frets. There have been some comments about the pickups being weak... that's how I remember my first Strat and other than the hum on the older pickups being gone with the noiseless on the newer Strats they sound classic. I play mostly Blues and Jazz and thus this was the sound I was looking for. I use the button with switch in number 2 if I use rock/metal distortion. I mostly use the neck pick up for what I play. I also use a Fender Twin for an amp. I also have a Marshall that does not compliment the Fender at all... Go for a Strat with the Texas Specials if you want great distortion... All in all I love the guitar and besides the bridge setup It was great out of the box. I use heavy strings (11 ga) so those using the 8 ga or so might think the pick ups were weaker than I. No tuning issues and I use the heck out of the tremolo.. I was actually surprised because the older Strats always had that problem... not this one.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I'm not sure what I was thinking, it must have been GAS- I should have bought an American. PUPs are too quiet and it just doesn't distort well. I should have changed the PUPs, it would give me a reason to get that less than complimentary pickguard off the guitar. Like others, It has issues keeping tuned-especially if you use the tremolo bar. Add up the price of the guitar, new PUPs, different pickguard, locking tuners, swap out the gold parts for chrome, and improve the tremolo you are spending the same money as a Standard American Strat. If you like to mod, have fun.

It's a nice looking guitar and the neck is comfortable. I'm disappointed with the pickups, I've played strats with noiseless pickups before and these sound very weak. The frets have vertical grooves the length of the fret as did the finger board. I maybe be able to smooth them with a fret eraser if not I'll file them. Frets were very good when I checked them with a fret rocker.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

probably one of the most satisfying guitars i have ever owned. i got a sick deal on it, bought it used and it looks and feels absolutely brand new. im a luthier and i didnt really have to do any tweaking to it out of the box, intonation and truss rod were spot on. i had to adjust the pickup height a bit to get a little more output but other than that it was perfect right out of the box. it sounds great, every pickup position is unique. i love the airy and crisp tones that i can get out of it. it truly has a classic fender tone out of it. i initially got the guitar with the intent of winding my own pickups for it but now im heavily considering leaving it alone, haha. i might have to buy another one for my pickups.
i have really enjoyed playing it clean through my 57 deluxe replica, it has such a good natural tone you dont even need overdrive. i love the 12" radius as well because i am so used to playing that type of fretboard so it feels like exactly what im used to. i love the bridge on/off button that is something i think every strat needs. i have only put about 2-3 hours of play time and i can find a single thing im really dissatisfied with. even the tuners are great. i like the classic vintage style because of the way the wind up the end of the string. i did notice that the white trem arm handle pulled off very easily, i dont know if it is suppose to be screwed on or something but im sure a little loctite will fix that, i dont plan on jerking on that too much anyway. if you want a cheap strat that wont play, feel or sound like one get this, its name is as it suggests, a true player.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Player's Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I purchased this axe as my first fender ,it was in the previously used section and stood out as the natural finish on ash with gold hardware and rosewood fingerboard dominated my eye, I have several other brands and always wanted a fender, plugging it in made the looks come alive in sounds that identified this guitar as its own ,after much practice over time I have evolved and now have two additional Strats, the American standard and the American deluxe , each again their own, however, this axe has now been given by me to my daughters boyfriend whom uses it in his development and applications in a band . He too has developed great affinity for the axe that began my relationship with Fender and the Stratocaster. Mexican vs American has no place in this conversation because this is a wonderful guitar to begin on and above average from a stripped down beginner mexican, and if one needed ,when ready to upgrade in evolution the trade in value holds well enough to offset starter cost, I am delighted I was in a position to give the gift of music to another and if I am in their area ,can still hold and play my first Stratocater love.
