If you want a guitar that has heavy distortion then this is not the guitar you want. It is perfect for my use as a Blues guitar. I play mine througgh a VOX AD100VT on the UK Gain amp selection with power output and gain to max. It absolutely Rocks my house making the bodies of the acoustic guitars resonate and strings to chime from the harmonic perfection of this guitar. Put power output and gain to 50% and play any pickup position and get crisp and clean tones. This guitar is not for everyone and especially if you want heavy distortion. I have +30 other guitars for that. The only other guitar I would want is a American Deluxe, but with a 12" radius neck, not a compound neck and a leftie strung right-handed. The 12" radius is best suited, for me, ergonomically. I got mine on Muscian's Friend as a closeout. Someone probably bought under the wrong assumption possibly thinking it would be good for Heavy Metal and expecting heavy distortion from some of the reviews I have read. How it looks, mine is a blonde, and the gold plating wearing off, who cares. For a under $1000 guitar I feel comfortable playing it at Jams and Gigs. I get the tone I want from it and have guitars with humbuckers to get all the other tones. For high gain and definition this is the best I have played. I have a American Special with the 22 jumbo frets and hot Texas pickups, but the neck feel and tone is unique only to this guitar.

I sent this one back and traded up for a level 1 Fender Classic Players 50 in 2 Tone sunburst with a Maple Neck. Perhaps Less is More and I hope this one will be a keeper when it arrives.
Outstanding Maple Neck with Noiseless Pickup System and 7 Way Selector Options. Comes with quality padded Gig Bag. Body weight heavier than usual. American electronics but Made in Mexico however you don't get that usual MIM Standard Vibe. Better than the low end standard you can buy for less than $$$.
Others have noted the thin gold plating to hardware but I didn't own it long enough to notice. I returned the guitar after 30 days because I couldn't get past the ugly Honey Blond finish which really looked like spoiled Dijon Mustard. I really wanted to like this guitar because it was a great player with big frets and quality Noiseless Pickups. Hated the vintage tuners but the guitar was always in tune when I picked it up to play. The frets were well finished and the guitar arrived set up nicely with 09's decently intonated. Didn't want to mess with anything until I decided if this was a keeper. I bought through Musicians Friend with a great price on level 1 but really felt new when I opened the box.
If you can find one used through Musicians Friend and not pay more than $$$ with the color and maple neck combo you like then go for it. Not worth paying retail or on sale. Some have wanted to replace the vintage with locking tuners but I've tired of going through strat projects by putting more money into the guitar. I wanted to just buy a factory Fender Strat and live with it, be happy. Didn't happen here.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've owned this guitar for about 7 years now and still love it as much as the day I got it from Musician's Friend (maybe more). The noiseless pickups are awesome and I don't know why they haven't put that extra button on all strats by now, it activates the bridge pickup to increase the tone possibilities. This is the only Strat I've played where you can have all pickups on at once.

Excellent bang for the buck. I enjoy the feel, sound and look of this Strat and I have a collection of 12 Stratocasters of varied levels and configurations. This one does it all and feels great! Feels and plays as well as and better than some Strats two times or more in cost. Very happy with this purchase. Get one!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is an excellent guitar in so many ways except for the crucial variable that I find is essential to keeping a guitar. The finish was excellent. The pickups are comparable to my Am Strat and in some ways superior. On the down side the tuners would not hold even after stretching the strings. Upgrade needed there. But here's my beef with Fender and not just this one. They are making necks on this and the Am strat I have that will not allow a set up for close fingering and ease of play. And that is on the 91/2 and 12 inch radius necks. I have owned 9 Fenders Strats and only one allowed a set up with low fingering. Sold it to the keyboard player after his many pleas. So if you don't mind higher set strings, a little buzzing and effort to fret, no worries. I'm Still looking for that Fender that has ease of play. My thanks to MF for their return policy allowing me to continue the search.

I have been a Strat man for quite some time. I originally owned an SRV Strat but did not care for the location of the Tremolo Bar. This Deluxe Player's Strat is perfect for my needs. I am very happy with it! Who wouldn't be, it's a Fender!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Simply put, it's a great guitar for the price. Everything about it from the play-ability to how well it holds a tune is just great. The only thing I have an issue with is I can only play on 1 or 2 setting with my amp or on the guitar due to it being relatively quiet. My amp is a bit older (10ish years)but some newer ones may not have an issue. But all together its a great strat for the price.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

First Off I had to re-set the tremolo Bridge about a millimeter.. definitely a quality check that was missed... The top was just barely on the frets. There have been some comments about the pickups being weak... that's how I remember my first Strat and other than the hum on the older pickups being gone with the noiseless on the newer Strats they sound classic. I play mostly Blues and Jazz and thus this was the sound I was looking for. I use the button with switch in number 2 if I use rock/metal distortion. I mostly use the neck pick up for what I play. I also use a Fender Twin for an amp. I also have a Marshall that does not compliment the Fender at all... Go for a Strat with the Texas Specials if you want great distortion... All in all I love the guitar and besides the bridge setup It was great out of the box. I use heavy strings (11 ga) so those using the 8 ga or so might think the pick ups were weaker than I. No tuning issues and I use the heck out of the tremolo.. I was actually surprised because the older Strats always had that problem... not this one.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Players Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I'm not sure what I was thinking, it must have been GAS- I should have bought an American. PUPs are too quiet and it just doesn't distort well. I should have changed the PUPs, it would give me a reason to get that less than complimentary pickguard off the guitar. Like others, It has issues keeping tuned-especially if you use the tremolo bar. Add up the price of the guitar, new PUPs, different pickguard, locking tuners, swap out the gold parts for chrome, and improve the tremolo you are spending the same money as a Standard American Strat. If you like to mod, have fun.
