Played MANY strats (Fender and otherwise) before landing on the Fender Deluxe Roadhouse. They ranged from G&L Tribute to expensive custom strats. One of the first things I realized is I LOVE the sound of the texas special pickups. I was convinced I needed an American strat until I played one of these at the local guitar shop. Everything was perfect except the color (I have always wanted a sunburst strat). So for the first time ever I bought a guitar without playing first, ordering a sunburst roadhouse from this site. The picture doesn't do it justice. This is a beautiful instrument. The tinted neck looks great and plays perfectly (very dry and slippery feel to it - not tacky like some maple strat necks I've played). Initial setup was pretty crappy, so if you don't do it yourself, plan on someone setting it up and ditching those HORRIBLE fender strings it comes with. Once you do that, you'll love this guitar. With a blocked trem, it stays in tune surprisingly well too.

Ok I'm only just past beginning status as a guitar player, but the quality of this guitar was well below acceptable. To begin with, immediately out of the box I noticed one of the pickguard screws was not only missing, the hole in the guitar body was not even there. Ordered the three Texas Special pickup model and received two single-coil pickups which I highly doubt were Texas Specials due to their poor sound and a humbucker that sounded pretty well. It was the only thing about the guitar that was well made. The neck was bowed badly and the back cover plate was white...supposed to be the same as the pickguard which was tortoise shell. Seems they just threw something together and shipped it. I realize this is a Mex model but even for a company as reputable as Fender this is pretty shoddy. I had some problems as well just getting the guitar shipped. I guess this is what I get for ordering a guitar on the internet.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I do look at reviews when I am considering a new purchase, and I have to let you all know that this guitar is well worth the money and you will not want to let it go.
I have been playing guitar for over 30 years, and own a number of fine guitars including an American HSS Deluxe Strat that I replaced the Humbucher with a Seymour Duncan SH5. I love this guitar, but was looking for a more bluesy clean sound especially in the 2nd and 4th switch positions. I bought this guitar from Musicians Friend mail order, and am I ever impressed!
The white body with the tortoise shell pickguard is the bomb! There are a lot of great luthiers in Austin, and I got mine set up for 9.5's from D'Addario (EXL 120+) and it has been hard to put this thing down.
Maybe I was just lucky, but there was no need for any fretwork, the frets were all at the proper height and factory rounded and smooth as my HSS American Deluxe! Like butter! The quality and workmanship was well beyond what I expected.
What everyone talks about are the pickups, and indeed they are pure. I get my best sound with the guitar volume around 7 and adjust the tone knobs to the song we are playing. These Texas Specials can get as nasty as you like, and respond to overdrive and distortion pedals well, with amazing treble boost on the bridge p/u. But the real value of this guitar is the way that it can bring out an extremely wonderful sound
Everything is right on this guitar, and don't think that because it is a MIM Strat it is anything less than an American model. The factory finish, the aged maple neck, the playability are all there. I play this guitar thru Vox tube greenback speakers as well as a Peavey Classic 50/410 and the sound is superb. My only problem now is putting the guitar down earlier enough to get a good nights sleep.
I have honestly found no negatives about this guitar at all. Look for a good coupon, get the white body, and look forward to some sonic bliss.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I was originally debating between a American Fender Special and Gibson's 60's Tribute. Either way I was ready to shell out around $900 for either.

After some research on the 60's reissue I decided on the American Special, until I played it. Tuners wouldn't hold, fret board had insane buzz, and it didn't feel like a $900 guitar or an American Fender.

Then I saw this baby. Fender's Roadhouse Deluxe with Texas Specials. The main reason I was going to get the American is because it had Texas Specials. I'm glad I didn't because this guitar plays WELL above it's price range and sounds absolutely beautiful. Nice subtle stain on the neck, well made body and electronics, beautiful finish (I went with the 3-tone Sunburst), and over all a fantastic guitar at an unbeatable price. This is probably one of the top 5 best MIM Fenders on the market. (In my opinion the best!)

My only qualms is the tuners are a little flimsy and couldn't take too many dives from the tremolo bar without de-tuning. Just buy you some Fender locking tuning machines and you're good to go! It's worth the extra $60 to make this guitar American-built level for a fraction of the price.

You honestly can't go wrong with this Guitar. It's my new favorite and will be for some time!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for more than 25 years and I own/have owned various other Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, Charvels and custom guitars. Dollar for dollar, this guitar is by far one of the best buys I have ever gotten! I pulled the guitar out of the box and it needed very little in the way of set up before I was wailing away. The Texas Special pickups are some of my favorites and I have them in my SRV strat and my USA strat too. The neck is smooth as silk and the hardware is solid. Back in the early 90's I owned another MIM strat and I had to replace the trem because the block was really small. Not so on this one. I don't know that I need to replace anything on this one. It has tone for days already!

Another little side note about quality control. I checked this guitar over and the QC seems to be great! I wasn't able to find any issues with it whatsoever. In contrast, I purchased a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Pro for $1500+ a while back and only kept it a day before taking it back! It was virtually unplayable due to the buzzing in the upper frets that I wasn't even 100% sure would go away with a good setup! Whoever did the final prep on the binding did a poor job as well. There were also some other issues with the finish around the neck joint that were TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for a guitar at that price.

If you are looking for a great strat with great looks, great playability and great tone at a great price, then look no further my friends because you've found it. I promise you that you won't be disappointed.

            Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Strat.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster. I'm just starting out after a long hiatus. I had a Lotus strat knock off long ago,so this feels like home. This strat was at a super price being used, that made it a no brainer. again nicer than the standard strat because of the pick ups. Body, neck and finish are top rate. I've been playing on a Fender Super Champ XD, the tones this guitar makes are just great.
A basic strat.and thats great, but Its all about those pick-ups.
I got mine as a level 2 used. I only found 1 tiny blem on the body. that was after 30 minute of inspection.
Again a great guitar with the sweet custom shop pups.

            Great guitar

            By Matt

            from New York, New York

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

The neck and the neck pickup is what really makes this guitar for me. Comfortable and good looking neck and a warm, SRV tone. Neck pickup tone knob down to 1, switch to neck/mid position - instant jazz tone. It's a little bit on the heavy side for a strat but I like it. Overall, a very versatile guitar, plays blues, jazz, pop, some rock depending on the kind of set up you have. Highly recommended.
Same as a normal strat, love the look of the tinted neck!
When I first got this guitar, I had a faulty neck pickup. A week after I bought the guitar, the neck pickup stopped working, I had it fixed at the shop and another week later it stopped working again. The store had a guarantee so I was able to exchange it and get the shop fees waived. Other than that, everything on the guitar is made well. I had to get the frets leveled a few months ago, so it lasted about a year and a half. Mind you, I have a very aggressive playing style, this is my only electric and I play A LOT.
It's easily overlooked, but the only thing I have to complain about is that the tremolo will never stay in tune for me, even with locking tuners. My only other gripe is that the bridge pickup is a little bit thin, but the bridge/middle position sounds great!
That's a steal for this guitar. Problems aside, I still can't find a strat that I prefer over this one, including the Americans.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Roadhouse Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Didn't like the sound of my old Squier strat. I guess my ear outgrew it. Stopped in the local music shop to try a few other strats (American, Deluxe Player, Standard, etc.). They were OK, but didn't hit my hot button. Saw this one sitting in the corner, a used 2007, about half the price of anything else in there, but in pristine condition and gorgeous. Picked it up, played a few riffs and WOW!!!! what great tone! Excellent neck!. I was blown away. I took it home, even though I didn't REALLY need another guitar. Wasn't until I looked it up on the web that I realized it was a Roadhouse deluxe. Yeah, it was an unbelievable steal.Knowing what I know now I'd buy one, this time on purpose!
