OK, first the good part; this axe plays very well if you like a steep 9.5 radius. The frets are reasonably well-dressed and polished with reasonably well-trimmed ends, not to say there isn't room for improvement here with this or any other production guitar. The Tex Mex Tele pickups, along with the single Tex Mex Strat center pup and 5 way switch sound bright & snappy with a bit more mid howl than you might expect from a regular Tele. This is perfect for tones that mimic early Led Zeppelin, which was exacly what I was looking for. Tuned into open G, I can get the exact sounds heard on the first 3 LZ albums, all of which were recorded with Page's old beat-up Telecaster. This is a Tele on steroids...plenty of clean bright snap for a country picker and lots of growl available for a heavy/blues-rock tone for Zep,The Who, et al. Very inspiring if you're into this type of music.
I would have given this guitar a much better over-all rating if not for the hardware. I'm frustrated when they insist on putting "vintage-style" hardware on a modern axe in order to satisfy a 'fad'. The six-saddle ashtray style bridge doesn't allow for the strings to pull straight behind the saddles, forcing the strings into the tension springs on the base of the saddles, making them both all cockeyed and misaligned. It might have been better with a true vintage 3-saddle set up, but IMHO, unless you're conserving an actual vintage instrument and need it to be correct, the old ones lack mass, and if you want an accurate set up for a player's axe, you need a modern tele style bridge. I replaced this one with a high-quality tele bridge from G*t*h. As far as the tuners go, these are old school design, probably mid-grade Pings, and it takes extra effort to get a new set of strings seated. They hold OK once thats done, but I would prefer a nice set of Schallers. Problem here is that you can't put on Schallers, Grovers, Sperzels or any other high quality modern tuners because the holes in the headstock will only accept "vintage" (9mm) ferrules. Have to drill it out. I may bite the bullet and just drill it, but I'm reluctant to do this...we'll see. I'd really rather have a nicer set of tuners with more mass to them.
As an additional note, I specifically went for the ash body for the tone, but can only get this with the honey-blond finish; the finish isn't too bad, actually, but I would have preferred the classic butterscotch...that would be a nice option in ash.
I'm going a bit neutral on the features here; I really like the Tex-Mex pups with the reverse strat pup in the middle and the 5-way switch. I also very much dislike the cheesy "vintage-style" bridge and tuners.
Nice quality build and finish...except for the bridge and tuners.
Lot of guitar for the money, all things considered.

This is a great guitar. And its not "great for the price". It is just a fantastic guitar. You WILL NOT be dissapointed with this guitar. It is a formidable opponent to any American Telecaster, and honestly any other guitar in general. Its just great.
The Fender Telecaster is known for being versatile. And with a middle pickup, this Fender Nashville Telecaster is the right guitar for anything. Yes, even heavy metal such as Black Sabbath or Blue Cheer. It is a fantastic guitar if you want to get a 70's punk rock tone, and it even works for hardcore punk. This is an EXTREMELY versatile guitar. I got this guitar used from a local Guitar Center, and is a 2001 Nashville Telecaster.
The frets are perfect and don't scratch your hands, however are a little bit bigger than some guitars so keep that in mind if you prefer super small frets. The bridge pickup is very good clean, and perhaps even better with some light gain (keyword "light". Trust me, you won't need to crank the gain with this axe to really get it to sing), but the cleans are much better using the middle pickup. If you want a very authentic acoustic sound, use the neck and middle pickups and slightly roll back the tone knob. It is wonderful! and if you want a more trebly sound, use the bridge and middle pickups and do the same thing with the tone knob. Anyway, this guitar is a great guitar. Definatly not the same as the Mexican Standard by any means.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I own 4 Fender guitars, Strat, 6-string acoustic, 12-string acoustic, and the Nashville Tele, plus some by other manufacturers but the Tele is my favorite.
The pick-up configuration allows for such a wide variety of sounds that most of my other guitars sit jealous in the rack. The neck on the Tele is so smooth and easy to work with it plays like greased lightning. It plays like a much more expensive instrument. Way to go Fender!!!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I bought some new locking tuners and a new a modern bridge, because this guitar was actually worth it. When they say vintage I say smintage. Guitar is a solid purchase though, don't be fooled by minor gripes. I got the honey blonde for the excellent tone, even though it's not my favorite color scheme.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I just got this the other day and am thrilled. It is beyond expectations. I once bought an American strat and it wasn't set up from the factory as well as this mex telecaster. No fret buzz, great string height. Very playable. I usually use tens. This comes with nines and will probably stay that way.
The finish is great. The hardware is solid. The pickups all sound unique and all scream fender.
I have nothing negative to say about it. If you are on the fence I hope this helps you.
Just be aware the stock pickups do have 60 cycle hum no matter if you use one or two at a time but hey it's a telecaster.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Got this tele used back in 2007. I believe mine is a 2003 model. The feel and shape of the neck is fantastic, much better than my american deluxe tele, which has a sticky, high-gloss neck. The tex-mex pickups on this particular tele were a tad dark for my tastes so I swapped all 3 of them out with fender noiseless PU's. I was never satisfied with the sound of the bridge pickups until I changed out the bridge for a Gotoh Brass one. The original ashtray bridge is light, cheap, and incredibly microphonic. Now this is my go-to ax for every musical occasion! I've played about 20 shows with it the last couple of years, dropped it a handful of times, and it still holds up incredibly well.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Well, I ordered the Honey Blonde, with the Ash body and Maple fingerboard. Fresh out of the box ready to play, I was impressed with factory setup. Ofcourse, everyone has their personal taste on setup. A slight adjustment on the middle pickup, and raise the string action slightly,(because I use 2 down tuning). The tone is excellent with the Tex-Mex pickups. The sustain from the maple and ash combo is fabulous. What else can I say. Go get yourself one.
And many thanks to Musician's Friend for being a real friend with all my orders in the past and the future.
Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Very please with my purchase. I went to a bunch of shops and played many different Tele's. Kept coming back to the Nashville. Musicians Friend beat all the other prices.
5 way switch will give you all the tone! TexMex Tele bridge and neck with the TexMex Strat middle pickup combine for an array of tones and sounds.
Build quality is very good. I am very impressed. I have been over it with a fine tooth comb and find no issues. I have the Sunburst with the maple neck. Beautiful. The neck is finished with a very fast satin finish. Almost like nothing at all. Just super smooth and very fast action. Setup was spot on out of the box. Again, very suprised.
Low and behold, when I logged in to buy this guitar, there was an instant rebate that was not there the day before when I looked. Great value.
Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Seriously, just buy this guitar. It sounds amazing, it's affordable, and incredibly versatile. The addition of the strat tex-mex pickup in the middle is incredible in and of itself, but the five-way pickup selection it offers far outstrips the standard, three-way tele selection. Moreover, the six-saddle bridge offers truly accurate intonation callabration (as opposed to the standard, three-saddle tele bridge).
Believe it or not, but when stacked against my Les Paul 1958 VOS--itself an unstoppable instrument--I've found this one does more with a lot less cost.
Comments about Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Electric Guitar:
If you look at this guitar not too closely, it will be a killer axe, just be careful when you delve into the innards of the guitar, because you might find some bad things down there. Check the frets too.
Good, I love the blond finish and the see through ash body.
Horrible, I don't see how Fender let mine out. Four months old when I bought it brand new, and the frets were sticking out on both sides pretty good. Also, the strat pickup is a HORRIBLE combination with the tele pups. The strat pup is so much brighter and has ALOT more output, it is almost like using a killswitch when going from just the strat pup to the normal tele pups. The high E saddle buzzes like heck, I checked for loose screws, none there, but it still buzzes... not pleased. And it is not a subtle buzz, it is an in your face it's not going to be covered up if I play louder type of buzz. I LOVE how Fender does not put paint in the cavities now, makes the guitar alot more resonant if it has somewhere to breathe and not be choked up by the polyurethane. I wish they did this on the Americn models though..
Good value, great finish, just the unfinished frets, buzzing, and BAD pickup combination makes this one hard to justify for the price.
