Fender has made the top-selling DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack even better by upgrading its full-sounding, easy-playing dreadnought guitar with even finer features. Other features include a solid spruce top with scalloped and quartersawn "X" bracing for balanced tone, mahogany back and sides, mahogany neck with 20-fret rosewood fretboard, neck and body binding, and Graph Tech Nubone nut and compensated bridge saddle. Pack includes everything needed to start playing, with gig bag, chromatic electronic tuner, strings, picks and strap. I am a music teacher. I recommend this guitar pack for all my students to get started. They have all been very happy with it and I also bought it for my son for his Birthday. The reasons are:
1. You get solid spruce top in this price range! That makes the guitar sound so much better and is very unusual at this price point. Usually you get all laminate wood at this price. The sides and back are still laminate, but the solid top sold me on this guitar.

2. The guitar is set up well and holds a tune. I have all my students switch to Elixir Nanoweb custom light 11 gauge strings. After that is done, this guitar plays easily and that makes all the difference between someone getting frustrated and quitting versus someone loving guitar because their instrument sounds good and plays well.

3. It is very beautiful. The guitar is impressive looking. I am only familiar with the natural wood version and it is shiny and beautiful with a binding around the body and a mother of Pearl Rosette. These are luxuries not usually found at this price point.

4. It is a Fender. A well-respected brand that has been around a long time! I also own a Fender Stratocaster and a Fender tube amp and love them too.

5. The pack also provides a tuner, strap and a nice gig bag to safely transport the guitar. The value is exceptional here!

For a first guitar, It's great. Don't get me wrong, has everything the starting guitarist needs (bag, picks, tuner, strings...). So it's definitely a good value. Once you start to get better, or at least halfway decent, you start to notice the imperfections. First off, It's made in China. Not that it means much but it kind of explains why it's so cheaply made. The frets buzz horribly, the tuners don't stay in tune very well, and it scratches extremely easily. That's okay if you want the seasoned look, but if you don't, it sucks. So depending on your skill and experience, you should consider what you pay for

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is an excellent guitar for a beginner. I've been playing for six months. The DVD was very helpful and still has lessons that challenging me. It is easy to play. However, playing this guitar will make you really appreciate a better guitar once you become a better player.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This was my first guitar, but I'm not some idiot that knows 3 chords haha. Anyway, let me just say that this guitar is the BEES KNEES! You heard me. I've played big name acoustics, some costing well over 10X this one, swear on my life. Out of the box with some ernie ball earthwoods,or elixrs if you wanna go big, this thing sounds UN-BE-LIEVEABLE, it has an incredible resonance and projection I haven't heard in $3000 guitars. It plays really, really well too, with a minimal of adjustments. Sure It does look "plain" but the woodgrain on the back and sides is beautiful, and its the sound that matters right? And I'm not just gushing because mines good,I've played about 5 more just like it,they're consistent as anything. It stays in tune amazingly enough. And it's tough as nails, its fallen 5 feet, right on the neck, and only barely chipped the back of the neck.I guarantee this will blow your mind,if it's your 1st guitar, or your 50th.

      I'm Impressed, and Surprised

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought this guitar as a starter for my 11 yr old daughter. I didn't have high expectations, I just wanted something for her to beat around on to see if she would remain interested. I've been blown away at the quality of this guitar. It looks great and sounds really good. My main concern was that it would have good playability so she would enjoy it and the action is great. I highly recommend this guitar to any parent wanting to get their child started. The gig bag, tuner, and strap are pretty weak but that wasn't what I wanted when I bought it.

We were in the market for an acoustic guitar for my 20 year old son. A friend told me about Musician's Friend and their experiences. Found what we were looking for AND got a great deal. Had problems getting a coupon code to work so I got on their online chat. Got excellent help from a customer service rep. and a new coupon code that worked! I chose regular shipping since it was free. It was close to Christmas and the guitar was delivered in TWO DAYS! We were pleasantly surprised! Will definitely return for more items.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is an okay guitar to learn on and it was my first guitar but it has a terrible sound and action. I tried lowering the action and the neck cracked right away and so did one of the strings. I would suggest beginners only use it and experienced musicians use the taylors and martins.

I got this guitar last year for christmas since i wanted an acoustic. I didn't want my parents to buy a real expensive one becuase i had only been playing for a year, so i suggested this one. Man, I'm glad I did! First of all, the guitar sounds awesome! It easily competes with guitars that are a lot more expensive and is under half the price. The action is very good, and it looks very nice. Plus, the pack comes with everything you could possivly need. The only problem i have with it is the strap which comes loose fairly eaisly. Otherwise, i would highly recomend this!

Well I bought this sucker about 8 years ago and I still have to bust it out every now and then to play some acoustic stuff. It's held up well and although it doesn't produce the high dollar tone, it's definately decent. If I could go back I'd buy it all over again. I would highly recommend this for a first timer.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I received this guitar as a present from my father for High School Graduation. I picked the guitar out(Back then it was just the DG-8 value pack). I had little experience with guitars in general and no experience with acoustic guitars. I am glad i choose this one. Ten years later it is still my go-to guitar. It is fairly beaten now, I tried adjusting the trus-rod myself and cracked the neck. I broke the nut. It has been all fixed since and I have upgraded it with high quality bridge pins and I have installed a soundhole pickup. I now also own a 1935 Gibson archtop (f-hole) and have played many other acoustic guitars including Taylor, Larivee, Blueridge, Washburn, Takimene, and others. I still love my Fender. If you are looking for a starter guitar I think this one is great (if they are built the same as when I got mine).

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought this guitar with hopes of having a second guitar to just beat around and play when I don't want my martin to get destroyed. This had potential to be that, but the neck was unplayable(even after a pro setup) and the sound was okay at best. There are much better guitars out there for 199.99. Even for a beginner I probably wouldn't reccomend this. I would tell that person to go get a used Breedlove passport. Much better guitars for the same price.

I bought this guitar a few months ago and it has yet to let me down. The sound is great, its warm and it just feels right. I played at least ten other guitars trying to figure out which to buy. I played guitars twice the price and finally decided on this one. Usually I'm not a fender guy, but this guitar sold me on fenders. But anyway, this guitar is great for the price and it stays in tune and will not let you down. Buy this guitar!

I bought this guitar and a hard shell case second hand the other day. I was looking for a "couch" guitar or one that I could take camping, etc. The solid top really sold me, especially at the price I got it for. I've had Martins and Larrivees in the past and while you can't really compare to those manufacturers you can certainly enjoy what it has to offer. Mine is not overly loud. It sounds quite mellow and rich actually. I discovered a few wolf tones and dead spots, but mostly in the higher registers. Mind you I haven't changed the strings yet so those issues might resolve themselves. The neck is quite fast and easy to play. It's really a great guitar for the novice or experienced player such as myself. Highly recommend.

I've owned this guitar for nearly 24 hours and so far I've straightened the neck and re-strung it. I will be taking some meat off the bottom of the saddle to lower the action, tho' it's not that high its just I like a low action and this guitar will take that with no problem. I will be fitting a Fishman Presys Pre-amp and it will be used fairly regularly on gigs. I bought it 2nd hand and there's no marks on it, no chips, in fact it looks like brand new. It will join my Maton Performer, Ovation Custom Balladeer and Epiphone EJ200SCE in my roster of working guitars. For a cheaper guitar it is certainly a good class instrument.. This seems to be a quality instrument with a VERY nice sound - particularly for the price....It was purchased for my daughter for Christmas and I wasn't sure how interested she'd be about learning guitar. (she plays piano/keybord) I DO however have two sons that play guitar who have instruments in the 800-1200$ range, so I do know a quality instrument when I see/hear one! I was quite pleased!

What initially attracted me to this package was the price and the items included as this was my first guitar. I've been playing it since last August and I'm in love with it. I thought I would start with this guitar and perhaps purchase a higher end Gibson or Epiphone acoustic to replace it but not anymore. My only gripes with this pacakge are that the picks are very light and unsuitable (I use medium Dunlop Gator grips now) and the strap broke very easily in a few months time which I replaced with a better Fender strap. Other than that it was perfect right out of the box and the DVD was extremely helpful to learn the basic chords and get started.

Comments about Fender DG-8S Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is the best guitar. It has great sound and its a good guitar for beginners. The spruce top is nice, though the tuning pegs are like hella tight, platinum and shiny. I recommend this guitar for starters because it has great sound and comes with a lot of cool stuff.
