Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I can't criticize this guitar. Read the other reviews for that. Sure, a gig bag would be nice..and a tone control...but this is a cool guitar in it's own unique ways.
These pickups rock and yet stay articulate...and the cool factor is way up there.
Pros
- Defined Tone
- Fun To Play
- Great Finish
- Great Neck
- Nice Stock Pickups
Cons
- Wrong Bridge

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I read quite a few reviews before ordering this guitar, several of which stating that there was a problem with the bridge being too wide for this guitar. Well, they were right. The first few strings don't line up over the pickups' pole pieces and the high E string slips over the edge of the fretboard quite easily with even the slightest vibrato.
Despite that, I really like this guitar and will keep it. It's a great looking axe (mine is the Ash body, trans-white finish) and the Fideli'Tron pups are pretty nice sounding. Spanky with a bit of twang, but able to get nice and aggressive with gain, and not quite as thin or as much "bite" as regular single coils. There is a sparkle and definition that really stands out with this guitar, more so than most single coil equipped guitars I play.
Eventually I may replace the tuners with Fender or Schaller locking tuners, but the stock ones are not bad. I may also look into a replacement bridge, as this one does not line up correctly, as I stated earlier.
It's a shame that Fender didn't put more thought into the bridge on the Cabronita. Otherwise, it's a fantastic instrument that is equally at home in studio or onstage and works well for indie, country, jam, rock, hard rock, etc.
Pros
- Good Pick Up

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Agree with earlier review about the high E string being too close to the edge and does not align on top of the pickup like the other strings.. Slips right off the fretboard when you bend the string.
Too bad. The white ash was beautiful. I really wanted this tele... Was looking for that filtertron sound. Returned it and ordered a Gretsch.

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Beautiful and comfortable. I played 3 gigs with it since receiving it last week. I like almost everything about it except that I had a high frequency feedback with my compressor on and my Carvin Nomad on the gain channel. I didn't notice the feedback when playing my Strat through the same gear. One other thing...this hotrod was ready to play right out of the box. Very good setup.

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I`ve owned many gutitars in the past 55 years of playing but never had a tele quite like this one. Of course i had to set it up because i like my axes set a certain way. Thr sound and tone of this guitar is like no other. I for myself like the pickups on the MIM tele better than the american made one. Their both great but i like the Fedieltron pups better. The one thing that i must say is about the alignment of the strings across the pups and the one review that said that the high e string string was to close to the edge of the neck. Not on mine . The one that i have is perfect, so don`t believe the statement that all of these guitars are that way. Mine is the sunburst model. Maybe that makes the differance. All i know is the one that i have is perfect. I own many fender guitars and have never had a bum one in the whole bunch. Fender teles in my opinion are the best. Keep it up Fender your products are very very good.
Pros
Cons
- Bridge is wrong width
- Poor Quality Craftsmanship

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I love the idea of this guitar and I've wanted one since the introduction of the Custom Shop model and the USA version. The MIM/FSR version made it affordable so I jumped on it. I got the sunburst and I'm very happy with the overall appearance.
I ordered from MF and received the guitar in fine condition. Unfortunately Fender knowingly built the guitar with a bridge that is the wrong width for proper alignment with the pickups and finger board. The high E is too close to the edge of the board and the strings don't line up to the pickup poles. I've trolled and contributed to forums addressing this topic and it's inherent with the guitar. Yours will have it too.
Worse things happen in life, and I really wanted a Cabronita, so rather than return the guitar to MF I did the Warmoth bridge fix mentioned in the first review. It's not an exact fit. Two of the three mounting screws go in at an angle. It's nerve-wracking when you're screwing in the new bridge.
Now the guitar if fine. It's pretty cool. Love the pups. Hot. Nasty for a Telecaster.
Be forewarned that the high E string is very close to the edge of the fingerboard, and the strings don't line-up to the poles. Those are the obvious cons. As soon as I calm-down from that complication, I think I will be extremely happy with my unique Telecaster. I really love it now.
I've never been a fan of humbuckers and only use them in the 335-style Dot that I own. This guitar has great pickups with a voice that I think most Telecaster players, looking outside the box, will really love.

Comments about Fender FSR Cabronita Telecaster Electric Guitar:
I'm going to start with a couple criticisms of this guitar and end on a positive note. Surprised to see that Fender did not include a gig bag with this model. Also Fender should lose the vintage spaced hardtail bridge as the strings do not align well with the pickups and are at the edge of the neck. This is easily fixed however, with a Warmoth humbucker spaced hardtail Strat bridge which is a direct drop-in replacement. The neck plate chrome is thin, wavy and cheap looking.
On to the good news! Fender raised the MSRP on the ash model $100 over the alder colors, and Fender is currently backordered on the ash, but Musicians Friend has them in stock at the SAME PRICE as the alder colors!!
THIS IS A 22 FRET NECK! Fender's official description is 21, that is wrong. The neck is NOT a "Modern C", it's very chunky and is closer to a U. Mine is .870" at the first fret and .930" at the 12th. Nut is not 1-5/8" but is every bit of 1-11/16". This is the best, fattest neck I've seen Fender put on a production guitar in a very long time! Neck has a light color tint. Finish on the neck and body is flawless. Nice grain on the two-piece ash. I tried an alder burst model in the store, it was three-piece. I did not care for the burst alder appearance which is why I ordered the ash model from MF. The alder model did indeed play well and sounded fantastic. These pickups, Fender's take on the TV Jones Filtertron (Fender calls theirs Fidelitron) sound fantastic! No weird mid "honky-ness". They sound like vintage output A2 humbuckers. IMO they are better sounding than the TV Jones. Internally, Fender feels this way as well, they like these better with this guitar than the Filtertrons that the Custom Shop is using. Winter NAMM 2013 will see Fender introducing the Cabronita as a new US model. Fender is very excited about the Cabronita and is doing a very good job with the quality on these as they are using this Mexican-made line as a springboard to a new US line.
Change out a couple hardware pieces and this model is every bit as good as the Custom Shop La Cabronitas, and the pickups even sound better.
This line is an incredible value. In my opinion, I would order one sooner rather than later. Specs, quality or MSRP will have to give at some point. No way they can keep selling a guitar this good at this price point. First new guitar I bought out of my pocket in many years. You can't build one from aftermarket parts at this price. And if you did, it wouldn't be any better than what Fender has done with this model. I never thought I would say this, but, Good Job Fender! Bravo!
