Been playing for 35+ years, had a lot of guitars over the years and i find this one to rate right up there with some of the best of them.
Also bought a Fender Super Champ XD (my back thanks me) and the 2 of them together is a very sweet combo.
I find the features to be the same as all Strats, also like to mention that it has the larger trem block which help with sustain. And i don't know what some reviewer think, but it's very nice looking in a classic type of way and much nicer in person then the on-line picture.
I was very suprized at how great it played right out of the box, everything was dead on from action to intonation, perfect... now to be up front i must say the first one i got i sent back, the nut was binding (w/stock 9ga. string's) and it wouldn't stay in tune for nothing and there was another problem that slips my mind right now, but the second one was a big improvment.

The rest of the quality is very good as well, although i would of liked to see the neck pocket a little tighter... the finish is great, i put 10's on and get no nut binding, the pup's sound better than i expected and believe it or not there's very little hum even in 1-3-5 position's, pots and pup selecter are silent and work smooth, tuners hold tuning good although i may replace them w/some locking tuners, however if i use the trem it dose go out of tune enough to notice so i may also install a roller nut... but all in all for the money it's a great guitar and i do like it very much as it rings true to what a Strat should sound and play like.
For the money you can't beat it... i paid 3x's as much for my American Strat and sold it never being happy with it and thinking that i'm just not a Strat player... looked at this FSR guitar for over a year and finally clicked the Add To Cart button and couldn't be happier... guess what, i am a Strat player!!!
    just had the wrong one.

Bought one of these hear at MF and really didn't like this guitar. Wouldn't stay in tune for more than 5 minutes, and I never even use the trem! The middle pickup was way quieter than the other two, so I'm thinking it had a wiring issue? Didn't like how the neck/fretboard felt, looks way uglier in person, and didn't even sound good. Sent it back not long after I got it. I'm losing patience with Fender. In the past year I got a Hot Rod Deville, a new Telecaster, and this, and returned all of them.

Liking my new Strat, execpt for the dings

Good bang for the buck. The more I play it the more I like it.
Fit and finish is great. Restrung with 10's.Everything needed adjusting, that took some time and alot of playing to get it right. sounds good to my ears and stays in tune as good as any other Strats I've owned. At the time of purchase I ordered a new Gator ABS case for it and the guitar was shipped in the new case. The bag of paperwork and the tremolo bar were placed under the guitar body instead of the storage area in the case before shipping.During shipping the tremolo bar had dug 3 nasty marks in the back.

    Amazing!

    By GW-OzAH5

This guitar is amazing it was my first ever ash strat and I didn't think there would be much tonal difference but there actually is the ash has a much brighter tone. My only complaint is the tremolo I wish it didn't have a tremolo at all because of tuning issues but I found that if you tighten the screws on the plate that holds the springs all the way in the trem doesn't feel so sloppy but that is just my opinion. Everything about this guitar is great it is definitly worth owning.

    This Guitar is 4 You

    By random#

This review is the second review I have written for this guitar, and after nearly half a year with the guitar I think I have some ecperience with it. After spending much time deciding between an Epiphone and a Fender, I decided to go with the "Real Brand." For a new guitar, no matter if its your second of twentieth, you can't find a better bang for the buck. Mine came playable right out of the box. My only complaint is the stereotypical 60 cycle hum coming from the single coils. Its probably mostly my fault 'cause I haven't taken any of the simple steps to remove the hum. My last word of wisdom is that if your wondering if the natrual finish is right for you, stop your worries now; you can't possibly ask for a more impressive finish. (Unless you can afford an American Strat in Sienna Sunburst.) If you want to spend a similiar firgure of money for an inferior product, this guitar is not for you.

    Natural Ash Beauty

First I must comment on who brought this guitar to us for this price. I have been dealing with this company for many years and received many Guitars from them. I have always been treated fairly and very timely - talking about return here. Sometimes you just don't like it or the color - but they take 'em back. These are good people working for a good company. Now about the guitar. I received mine today 3-24-10 and it is a beauty. The finish is great over top off a highly grain ash body which was put together with an eye for it's alignment. You have to look close to find the glue joints. The neck has a great fit to my hand and the rosewood looks flawless. Mexico produces a great guitar to add to my collection. I do not know what kind of pickups are in it as I have not opened it up yet but they sound good and look great with their cream color covers and knobs on it's tortoise pick guard. Don't know why the back plate is white but it is. That would be my only negative comment about this guitar.I have many guitars... 23 strats, 8 teles, and 46 others, including my first hollow body '59 Kay archtop, my Sear's Teisco, '67 Wurlitzer, '67 Mustang Bass. This is a great addition to these - why ... the looks of the Natural Ash Strat... SAYS IT ALL... And this company was my answer!!!

    A Good 'n sweet deal

Nice to play, bought this axe used from a friend and he had already changed the pickups to EMG SA (David Gilmour sort of Style), and compared to a brand new strat mine sounds really nice, with a very good tone. I don't play fender, I am a LP man. But this made me a fender fan absolutely. It is a nice value, but if can throw those extra bucks I'd tell you to do it and get an upgrade for those pick ups.

The guitar arrived in perfect condition, packaged very well. very solid guitar, feels as heavy as my Les Paul. Neck is beautiful, a little thicker (C shaped) than my LP, but plays very well. The finish on the body was much shinier than expected. After a pro setup, a new set of .11s it sounds GREAT! This guitar is pretty bright sounding. Maybe the ash, or pickups? Ive been told the pickups are Tex-Mex. No worries though, the tone knobs work perfectly!

    Review

"That's not an ashtray. That's the ashtray"- Jackie Gleason from The Toy (1982). What can I say about the Fender FSR Ash Stratocaster other than that it is awesome? I purchased this guitar in October of 2006 and still love it. This is a keeper. The quality, fit and finish are perfect. Flawless. The tone is excellent and the tuning is stable even without a professional setup. Mine is actually pretty lightweight compared to some of the others I have picked up in the store. After playing this baby there was no way I was going to shell out thee extra cash for an American Standard. This is a great strat.

    Totally worth it

    By straydogstrut

This is a sweet guitar. I had to set mine up a little differently (I like the action kind of high) but otherwise perfect. I was surprised at how different the pickups sound, they seem to have a lot of range, and decent output for a Fender. Definitely worth the price.
