Since its introduction in the early '50s, the Fender Telecaster has been relied on by professional guitarists of all musical genres for its powerful tone and smooth playability. The FSR Standard Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar incorporates the best of the old and new. The alder body has a scrumptuous Candy Apple Red finish while the 1-piece maple neck has a C-shaped profile with 21 medium jumbo frets. Wide Range humbuckers provide robust and beefy tones for everything from mellow jazz to roaring rock.

9 because the guitar came with no damage at all. But the guitar was in one single box, without an outer carton to help protect it. I was very lucky there was no damage because it would have taken much to damage the guitar. Other than that...totally awesome guitar!
The '72 Deluxe is a joy to play. It has the smaller Tele headstock and the neck plays identical to my '69 Tele thin-line. Neck is very comfortable and fast. Frets are well rounded, and it feels real good. Action was good out of the box, but I might lower the action a tad. Cool "Fender" logo stamped in each pickup No paint blemishes or weird marks. neck joint is tight, and the hardware is solid.
I love the candy apple red with the off white groovy 70's pick-guard. The retro black volume/tone knobs are great to. I am a Les Paul guy, and love the toggle switch on the top. It already appears to be a vintage instrument. The pickups are fat and toney. Each setting has nice character and has it's own little sound. Kinda Les Paul/Telecaster mix with plenty of tone. I found myself playing it for over an hour out of the box. My rating reflects this fun, retro, groovy guitar...maybe a little pricey , (thus the "9" score) but it does have the "special edition" logo on the back, Ron Wood of the Rolling Stones played a similar model in the same candy apple red, so it may be a good little investment for collectors as well.
I own and play lots of guitars. I love guitars. This Tele is a very fun little muscle car to rip down the highway in. It plays like a classic twangy tele, but with Les Paulish fat sound. The pick-guard and chrome humbucker pickups really add a lot of vintage appeal. Very cool look in candle apple red, so if you have the money, and your looking for a great guitar with potential investment potential, this is a great guitar.
