Love it!

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have wanted a fender for a while, but did not like the tone for the type of music I like to play. I found this guitar and knew it was what I wanted. So, I placed the order and knew I was not making a mistake in doing so.Guitar came about a week after I ordered it. When it got here, I opened the packaging, too the guitar out, and let it warm up to room temp. After that I gave it the once over, tuned it up, plugged it into my Peavey 66505 and went to town. After about an hour, I was greeted by the towns police and asked me to turn it down. The officer also plays guitar and told me he loved the guitar, when he was done doing his duty of course.

An Actually Modern Fender

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've always despised fender. As a metal player, single coils on all their guitars simply do not fit the bill. But I've played friends' guitars, and the Strats are comfortable and playable. Then, enter this tele.As a fan of stone sour and admiring slipknot (if not actually liking them) I gave this guitar a shot. First off, 22 instead of 21 frets, never a bad thing. Next, a contour in the back makes it SO much more comfortable to sit with. But to top it off, a mahogany body and EMG's, with a compound ebony fretboard send this through the roof. Although I see many artists playing this tele, I will probably save for his signature strat anyways. This is a must try, even if you hate Slipknot and Stone Sour.P.S. Only Baritone guitars and Mick Thomson's guitar come with heavy strings. But thanks to modern science, you can change them yourself! OMG!

Tried it, want one

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I recently tried one at my local Sam Ash dealer and was blown away right off the bat! Jim Root and Fender were paying very close attention to their work when they made thisPros: The best thing about this guitar besides the pickups which sound very good, are the locking tuners (which are the fender locking or sperzel trim loks I;m not sure its one of the two). I like how I only had to do one or two minor adjustments after I switched tunings (switched 3 times from E standard - D standard - drop C#). The neck plays like butter, very smooth and quick, and I am able to play up on the higher frets very easily.Cons: (Only one) No tone knob and it was a little on the trebly side, but that is easily fixed with an MXR 10-band EQ.All in all very well made guitar, like the paint finish very simple yet attractive. I'll be buying the white one once I get enoguh saved up. And if you've never played EMGs before it'll get you hooked. P.S. to the people on here whining about spending $899, sometimes you have to pay more for better quality so grow some and shut up

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I met Jim for the first time back at Ozzfest 2004. We talked guitars for a while before he mentioned that he was going to have his own signature tele come out within a few months. Over the next three years I got to hang out with Jim several more times, and every time he told me about the process and struggle he had with Fender in getting this guitar out to the public. Finally when this was released last summer, I finally got my own! This guitar is by far the best straight-forward guitar on the market. It is a simple design with tone that will stun any guitar player!

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar and swapped the pickups for a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck and JB in the bridge. Then I added a Fender S1 switch and designed a circuit so with the S1 switch pressed in I get Bridge Humbucker, Both Humbuckers in Parallel and Neck Humbucker. With the S1 pressed out I get the two individual coils in the Bridge humbucker in parallel, all four in parallel and the neck in parallel. This gives me six amazing combinations and actually makes it a very useful, if unique guitar. I love its neck and playability. I also have a Fender Deluxe American Strat and this one easily holds its own. Overall its a lovely guitar and with the way I set it up its unbelievable.

Bought this two months ago and just can't get enough! The quality of this guitar is spot on. I own a 60th anniversary Tele and this one is right there with it. Some say its only good for metal but i beg to differ. i run it through a Fulltone Full Drive 2 and a Digitech delay and get great blues tone out of it. Roll the volume off a little bit in the neck position and you get some sweet creamy Gary Moore type sounds. Of course full on and over driven and this guitar hangs with the best of them! Every time i play it makes me so glad i bought it!

nice guitar, having said that all it is, is a plank of mahogany with a maple neck and EMG pickups, Classic. guitar plays beautifully the ebony fret board is a definite plus. (although im usually a maple guy.) the EMGs are... well EMGs, exceptionally great with leads, lacking in the rhythm dept. having said that the guitar stays in tune intonates easily and sounds fantastic. if your playing jazz or blues you wont want this guitar. If you like heavier tones this guitar is a go to.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I've always been a huge fan of Jim Root and really wanted his signature Tele, but never got around to it. Just today, my dad bought me a used one in new condition for me for Christmas. I love this guitar. I've only played it once because it's hiding right now until Christmas. THE NECK- Smooth, fast, and perfect shape. Modeled after a Charvel Soloist's neck, it is one of the best necks I have ever experienced. THE PICKUPS- EMG 81/60's. Freakin' roar through any amp and the 60 cleans up VERY nicely for cleans. FEATURES- Locking tuners, Ebony fingerboard (which is rare on a tele), a special No-Caster modeled pickguard, Cut-away/Contour on the neck joint heel for amazing access, and, it's the only Tele with EMG's. I would of never thought this roaring sound would come from a Fender. The guitar is well worth what I paid, even worth $1200. Made in Mexico, but DO NOT have your doubts! The guitar is high quality and comes with a beautiful deluxe tweed / plush case with a cool locking knob design on it. The Matte finish is really cool because it feels smooth and doesnt show scratches, due to the fact that I picked the white model. The finish will look even greater through the years and take on a relic look do to the texture, like Jim said. Overall, I have nothing but love for this guitar. I wish they put straplocks on it, but who cares. I own many signature model guitars ( LTD Alexi, Dean Zero Dave Mustaine, Epi Zakk Wylde) and this one is the best!

        Jim Root Telecaster

        By Eva

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is the best telecaster I have ever played. I didn't like active EMGs before. But they sound really GREAT in this guitar.Features are quite simple, but gets you playing. quality is actually pretty good, but, yes, it have some issues, like the schallers and the bridge getting the color off. You will love the guitar, it will add to its mojo.Value: Well. This is a simple but better sounding version of ibanez/jackson whatever metal guitar you like, with the look and feel of a telecaster. It play the blues and the jangle, mind you, the EMG60 GETS REALLY along with the guitar. I play surf rock and jazz with this guitar. Sound: It's subjective; but the guitar is loud, saounds great. Its a lot better than the telecaster american deluxe, which I had to ship back because this guitar just kicked its arse in everything the other tele could do right.I do NOT play metal. I do NOT play metalcore. And this is a fantastic buy.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

Needless to say I was excited when I saw this guitar hanging on the wall. I plugged it into a Line 6 Spider II amp which I'd already played a copule Gibson Les Paul Custom's through but this guitar was the best I played all day. It was used and the neck could have probably been adjusted a bit but it plays crazy good. The fingerboard and neck allow you to play super fast and it's comfortable in your hand. The pickups are great; the 60 is great for solos and sweeping and the 81 gets great open low end, palm mutes and heavy riffs, I love the simple controls and the position of the 3 way switch. The locking tuners are a great thing to have. Amazing sound out of this, mahogany and ebony make this guitar even better. Try it out, whether you like Jim Root or not, try this thing out. I'm not a fan of the band or the player but I really love this guitar.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I used to think that EMG pickups were for people who used too much distortion and played to loud, I didn't think they could be musical at all. Well, today I played this guitar just to see how it was. HOLY CRAP! This guitar distorts very nicely and cleans up well too. The neck pickup is awesome. It goes from METAHL!!!! to blues to mellow jazz. The cosmetics are plain yet perfect. Anyone could make these sound great. Whether or not you THINK it fits your style, you should KNOW it will fit into any setup.

It is the best guitar I have ever had and I have an SG, a Les Paul, a Strat with a floyd rose and 1 humbucker, and a Jackson RR1! This is amazing! It's also the lowest price of any of my guitars! The EMG's are awesome and the neck is amazing! The hardtail bridge and locking tuners make it a snap to restring! With all black hardware and a matte black finish, it's a maggot's dream! It looks so hot!!!!!!!!!! This sounds just like Jim!

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This will be my next guitar. I own seven strats and I dig them all but I've always wanted a tele. When I saw this baby, it was love at first sight. It all started when I was researching pickups and decided I wanted a guitar with EMG pickups. Naturally, being a Fender guy, when I saw this tele, I realized my search was over. I don't even need to play this baby and I can tell you that it will play and sound spectacular.

        SOUNDS - PLAYS - FANTASTIC

        By BillSezCya

        from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this based on the perfect combination of features for me, not even knowing who Jim Root was at the time. It took 3 guitars and many shipping delays from Fender to get one that wasn't flawed from the factory. They all had deep scratch finish flaws. In fact, the third one still had a light scratch in it that mostly rubbed out, and then the guitar got discounted enough so I kept it. I use the same EMG's in all my guitars for my current band project. I don't know why, but this thing just sounds so much more powerful and gritty than anything I own. I absolutley love this thing, and I think I'm going to order the black one. The neck rocks, the sound is awesome, the flat paint is unique and very cool. I love it.

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar is probably one of the best guitars out there. This statement coming from someone who isn't a fan of fender. But I mean seriously, look at the features. EMG 81 for searing leads, EMG 60 for harm sensual rythem that isn't too chunky. It could have a tremolo or possibly an extra 2 frets, but even if you don't like SlipKnoT or Stone Sour, or Jim Root for that matter, this is the ultimate rocker. Period

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This is my third telecaster and by far the best. The EMG's give you the power punch you need to play metal or hard rock. The locking tuners make changing strings quick and the black hardware looks great. The volume control is close but is not in the way. For the price and the quality you will not get a much better guitar.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar yesterday and it is so sick! I went to my music store with the intention of buying a gibson sg standard. I didn't like the sound of those so I went home and looked for another guitar. After awhile, I decided on a les paul studio and nearly bought it online right then. On a whim, I went to try it out. It was beautiful! but not to bash les pauls I didn't like the sound of it. A tried another one in a different color but I still didn't like the sound. Then my sales person recommended this tele. I was not all that excited about the looks. Also, I wanted to only buy a guitar made in the U.S. but when I played it it was AMAZING. Forget that it is made in Mexico, it is made perfectly! The Emg 60 is an underrated pickup because it can get amazing cleans and the 85 is awesome for rock/ metal. Well, I bought it right then and am now shredding all day. P.S. I do not even like Slipknot or Stone Sour. I play more of a clean sound overall but this guitar plays and sounds so good that it is perfect for anyone and everyone.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I bought one of these Tele's about a month ago, and ever since it has been my go-to guitar. The neck plays very well, and yes, this Tele does metal without a problem. However, the Tele I bought had two EMG 60's, both one in the bridge and in the neck, so there was no 81 in the guitar. Fender must have made a mistake while building my Telecaster. This was all fixed though when I put passive pickups in the guitar. This is a very comfortable guitar and not only plays well but has excellent tone. The neck is fast and I was suprised how easily and effortlessly you can shred on this guitar. I highly recommend testing one out in your local music store. If you're not a fan of the EMG's, then try out a Seymour Duncan TB-6 Trembucker for the bridge, you will not regret it.

Comments about Fender Jim Root Artist Series Telecaster Electric Guitar:

i like this guitar so much but got some issues. It should've had a tone knob to make it more versatile. I love the neck profile and it's jumbo frets. bending is easy. the only problem is that it's not properly set up. the edges os the frets are quite sharp. I like the extra contours in it's body. The volume knob location is fine with me. I'm also pleased with the hard case that goes with it. EMG 60's are great! I just hope that Fender Mexico will also focus more on their quality control. It's a good buy for it's price range! :D
