While strolling around my local Guitar Center, I found this on the wall and immediately picked it up after all I had heard about it. Well, it didn't disappoint. I plugged into a Fender deluxe and the fireworks began. First of all, the neck is perfect. It's big, the fretboard is flat, and the frets are high. My favorite specs on a neck. The pickups (which took a year and a half to design) were amazing. Bell tones in the first four, and a surprisingly fat bridge pickup. Overall, good-looking, good-playing, and good-sounding. A little pricy, but a better deal than American Standards (ripoffs).

First let me say that I am a huge fender fan, I have owned many fenders/squiers in my life, so I know what to typically expect from a fender. The finish is beautiful, I had the black w/racing stripes, really cool retro finish with the off white pickup covers and volume/tone knobs. The features are what you would expect from a non-US strat, so I am not going to knock them on that rating. For quality, I must say I was a little dissappointed, the nut was mis-aligned, slightly to the right, and weather this attributed to the fact that this guitar would not stay in tune, I do not know, but I could not get this guitar to stay in tune, I ended up shipping it back as defective. I did like the graph-tech saddles, but the tremelo action was also a little stiff. I do not consider this guitar to have poor quality, just average, because I know that if mine was not defective, it would have played just fine, but the overall issue is that this is not much different from a typical MIM strat, other than a cool paint job, and some upgraded saddles, you have a Mexican strat, I would definately like to see a little more justification of Fender's latest round of significant price increases.

Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I have wanted this strat for a long time and finally got it. Bought it scratch and dent from musiciansfriend.com and can't find a single thing wrong with it. I have the white w/cross and mint green pickgaurd. It's awesome. Tone is awesome. The guitar has some heft to it for a strat but I like it. The neck is what sets it apart from any other strat I have previously owned. It feels like a baseball bat with strings on it. The pickup combos are very versatile for attaining different sounds. Buy this guitar if you want that KWS tone like I do.

I was excited to get into a lower priced strat with a large neck, jumbo frets, and graphtech saddles tossed in. I have large hands and had resigned to the fact that unless I wanted to pony up for a more expensive strat, I was stuck with a modern c-shape (or similar). I got a used 3-tone burst from MF that was just like new (only cheaper). Setup was close to where I like it out of the box. I like high action, so I actually raised the middle strings a bit. Basically all I did was add springs to deck the trem, slap in some 11-guage strings, and start wailing away! I can tell already this will de-throne my other strats and become my main guitar. My only gripe is I wish it had the sweet looking vintage tint on the headstock like on my roadhouse. The maple is very white looking. Otherwise I like the looks and the neck feels better than any I've played. The jumbo frets make bending noticeably easier as well. I may replace the pickups at some point, but I'm giving these a chance for now. Hum on the bridge and neck are less noticeable than my other strats. I wish I had bought one back when they were less...better late than never.
Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
Well-made guitar. Frets are finished nicely. Fast satin finish on the neck. Fat, very stable neck. Strings resonate nicely at each fret. Good sustain. Good tuners - no lash. Nice, flatter fingerboard radius. String action a touch high out of the box.
Low and high E strings are too close to the fretboard edge for my tastes.
Nice example of a stratocaster with a flatter (12-inch) fingerboard radius. Good quality tuners. Six, height adjustable bridge saddles Three single coils which seem to be pretty well shielded, keeping them quiet. Nicely contoured body shape.
Good craftsmanship.
Pretty damned good for the price. Much better value than, say a Les Paul Standard.

Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
What a fun guitar! The beefy neck, the jumbo fret wire, graphite saddles and the KWS pups make this one you can wail on. The neck is the standout feature to me. I am tempted to swap this neck for the neck on my Custom Shop 10/56, it's that good. For the money, it's a great guitar. No one would be disappointed to own one of these.
Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
If you are into the KWS sound this strat is for you. I tried several strats, including the clayton signature and this guitar played and felt as good as the Clapton. I own a custom LP (Slash signature) as well as a standard LP, Ibanez Prestige, and a Jackson. I was thoroughly impressed with this guitar and look forward to buying another Fender soon. This guitar is one dimensional in that it is very bluesy so if you are trying to get a hard rock sound you may wanna look at something else. I play this through a Dr.Z mini head with a Fender custom cabinet and the pickups on this guitar sound great. I also play through a Mesa Boogie Head (Recto-verb) and sounds great there too just knocks the plaster off the wall in my townhouse. As for the fit and finish I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sorry, I really don't buy that made in America is always so much better.
Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
Definately a blues players axe! I couldn't find a single flaw anywhere. Kudos to the Mexican factory. They are putting out some really good stuff these days. I love the KWS pups on this guitar. Plug her straight into a tube amp and you will be in heaven....
Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
I am also a Fender fan, I purchased the White Kenny Wayne Shepherd guitar with the Cross on it. I was impressed with the looks of the guitar. I checked the guitar over very carefully, the nut is centered, the fretwork is good, no frets falling out and no sharp edges. I looked for flaws and could not find any. When I plugged the guitar into the Fender Blues Jr, I was pleasantly surprised by the sound of the pickups and various combination's of the pickups. You do get that fat Fender sound. Even though it is a guitar made in Mexico, I am very satisfied with the guitar. I do own the SRV and Eric Clapton signature guitars and really like them. I do give a thumbs up to the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Guitar. I wouldn't change anything on it, play it the way it was made. Check Kenny playing the guitars on You Tube.
Comments about Fender Kenny Wayne Shepherd Stratocaster Electric Guitar:
Tried two of theses things. Both required fret work, one required nut work, one neck was sooo crooked that the high E was hanging off the neck! No joke. Body cavities had polishing wax! I temporarily owned two.
