Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
I've had a thing for Fender Mustangs since I have been playing guitar. I also should note that though I am a fan of Nirvana, I would normally never buy an Artist Signature model. That said, I've played 60s Mustangs and I've played the reissues, and this is by far the best incarnation of the Mustang ever made. Fender takes what once was a starter guitar and allows it to "come of age" with quality parts and electronics. The addition of the SD humbucker is just icing on the cake. The trem is also a vast improvement over older models. Price tag stung a little, but this thing has quickly become my favorite guitar. Fender was also smart enough not to stick a cheesy faux-signature or anything silly like that on the guitar. I absolutely love it.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
An absolute rock machine. Despite it is a signature model, you can get from it lots of different sounds. Not just the ones we are used to from Kurt. From Jazz to Grunge.
i'm a strato user. To be able to play with both, single and humbuckers is amazing. This guitar sings through my fender blues deluxe.
I also tried it with a Marshal JCM 900, and i tell you... it can bring down a whole building.
The guitar has a flawless finish. Made in Japan. The factory setup works like a charm.
I'm not that crazy about the vibrato bridge, but it doesn't do any harm.
The price for this baby is very good. I bought mine as MINT, and it arrived better than new. I just can't belive that Fender didn't even include a gig bag with it.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
I have always been a fan of Mustang guitars. I had a re-issue about 9 years ago and with my smaller than average hands this guitar fits like a glove. I love the Kurt Cobain signature model not only because of the cool color combination of the blue body and pick guard but the Seymour Duncan bridge pick ups are a great improvement. I love the low end growl on this guitar and the smooth silky sound of the neck pick up. Plus being able to blend them together with the switches is awesome! Love the weight of this guitar, the sound and the ease of finger positions. The smaller scale makes it easier for me to play a wider range of scales and complex chords.

The quality of the neck and string height/action is fabulous! The pick-ups sound amazing! The only two issues I have are: it's hard to maintain a good tightness on the tremolo bar screw... too tight and it won't move, too loose and the bar falls out. Needs a better design. The second issue is that the pick up selector switches seem to crackle more frequently than other Fender guitars I have. You'll need to get a can of circuit cleaner with this guitar. But overall I am VERY happy with this quitar.
For me, I am happy to pay a little more for a specialized guitar that fits my smaller frame/hands. Love it! I know this is more of a custom guitar with custom pickups so the price seems pretty good. But I was happy to find a used on through Musicians Friend. It did not look used at all and I am very happy with the value.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
It is well worth the $ and after playing it...would expect it to cost more. It not only has looks but it has complete versatility!
The tone on this guitar is just amazing! My bass player calls it COCO CRISP. It cuts through the sound and is clean yet powerful and incredible high end tone. I was expecting it to be more one dimensional and lean towards the distorted grunge arena BUT am pleasantly surprised with it's versatility!
My new favorite guitar....I have never heard such tone and versatility come from any other guitar...I have a GIBSON LES PAUL, a RICKENBACKER 12-string, FENDER STRATOCATER, etc.
I would expect this KURT COBAIN model to cost more...especially after playing it. Amazing looks and wide range of sounds.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
I love the way play and the way it sounds.
I wanted this guitar because I like this pick-up configuration. I'm a 51 fan and a Mustang fan and here I have a bit of both. The pick-up selections are diverse enough for me that I'm not bored. The necks shorter scale and shape make the guitar easy to play. I thought the guitar would be light like my Pawn Shop Mustang, but it was a nice 7lbs. I saw others that were a little over 7.5lbs. I picked up the sonic blue and love it. I keep trying to get a red Mustang, but the blue wins out every time. I honestly don't even like blue guitars, but love blue Mustangs! The tuners are fabulous, even with new strings I'm having to do very little if anything to the tuning before I start playing.
Everything is perfect on the guitar except for a couple of things. The frets seem a little rough. This is not from the wood shrinking or anything like that it is just the way the beveled edges were finished. In my mind I shouldn't feel that roughness when I run my fingers over them. The mechanism to hold in the tremolo bar isn't very reliable. I have a Duo Sonic and a Pawn Shop Mustang special and both had hard tails. This is my first Mustang with a trem.
An artist guitar at this price should have included a gig bag. I've purchased cheaper Fender guitars that came with a gig bag.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
All in all, great guitar. Most versitile sounding Mustang I own. Put together as well as anything else I own that has come out of fender japan, which I have never had a complaint about in the past. I usually have to play on heavier strings to get the sound I want out of one, but this one can sound like metal, nirvana, blues, you name it. right out of the box.
I have 3 Mustangs and this one is by far my favorite. I got the red one to get away from the whole Kurt thing cause most people don't know much about his red one. It feels and plays like a regular Mustang, but I was really surprised at how heavy this one can sound. Like the recessed switches so you can be a bit more aggressive and not have to worry about hitting one by accident. The adjust-o-matic bridge doesn't change much, just makes the bridge plate look bigger. If you love Mustangs, it's worth picking up. The fiesta red finish is a nice change in pace from the dakota red on standard Mustangs. It almost has an orangish look in cetain light.
It hasn't fallen apart yet. lol
Well worth the money if you want a modified Mustang right out of the box.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
I think this guitar is simply wonderful. I already have a Mustang but I wanted something a bit more substantial and solid for stage use, and this fits the bill. I changed the wiring around a little bit but overall, I haven't done much to this guitar, and I'm a chronic modder. It's really not just for Nirvana. It will do anything well. Just plug it in and let it loose and you'll absolutely love it.
A JB in the bridge and a Tune-O-Matic bridge make this guitar different from the rest of the Mustangs, but it keeps the rest of the Mustang pretty close to the real thing. That's a good thing because I happen to love Mustangs. I like the fact that the Kurt Cobain branding is minimal. There is no signature anywhere. I like Nirvana and all but I didn't want something that had Kurt plastered all over it.
The finish is impeccable. I got the Lake Placid Blue and it is a beautiful, beautiful guitar. The color is very dark and very stunning, and the competition stripe really tops it off. The neck is beautiful, just like other Fender Mustangs I've played. It's a bit thicker than some Mustangs, but overall it's a very comfortable neck, and not a single problem with it. The tuners work well as well. As far as playability goes, my only issue is that the bridge is of 9.5" radius, not 7.25" radius, and the Tune-O-Matic style bridge isn't of the best quality. It definitely could be a little better, especially for whammy use. This is heavier than poplar or basswood Mustangs, as you might expect. Mine weighs in at 7.5 pounds or so. Very comfortable anyway.
Now onto the sound. The bridge humbucker is fantastic, as you might expect. It's a Duncan, and a JB at that. The neck AlNiCo pickup sounds pretty good, not the best, but it works well with the bridge pickup. This guitar is a bit different from most Mustangs in that there is no phase switching for the bridge pickup, only On/Off/On. However, the neck pickup switch works as stock, so it works fine. Wiring quality is pretty good, shielding is good, too.
Of course, Mustangs are a bit expensive for what they are, but they're great instruments, and this one is probably the best value in Mustangs these days. If you want it, buy it.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
This is a good playing guitar, light weight and comfortable. Easy to play the smaller size neck makes it easy for beginner but not so small that it feels strange compared to a strat or tele neck. The phase in and out switches gives you tones of room to find any tones you may want. Just an enjoyable guitar to play.
no gig bag or case. just the guitar ,hex key and the box.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
Man, I plugged this thing in, and from the first power chord, it ripped. Hard.
I've been playing on Strats and my Jag-Stang years and years now, and this 'Stang blows them away. Completely.
Now, maybe I've never had a 'great' Strat before, and I'm sure there are better guitars out there, but for the money I put out (which really wasn't all that bad), I am EXSTATIC with the sound. Oh MAN! It's like i got dropped back into '93.
I purchased the Sonic Blue, and it looks STELLAR. I mean, it is beautiful to look at.
It plays amazing. The smallest details within my playing style roared through. It was effortless to get an unbelievablely intricate sound. I've never heard myself play as I did the first time I gave it a spin. I was blown away.
Maybe you have to be a big Nirvana fan, and maybe I'm just not used to playing a higher quality guitar, and again, I'm sure there are better guitars out there with more bells and whistles, but if you want a guitar that's semi-affordable, and grinds really, really hard -- this would be a great option.
Comments about Fender Kurt Cobain Signature Mustang Electric Guitar:
Just received my sonic blue model I must say it is a well made guitar. I held off on the Jaguar signature version due to the fact it is MIM and the pre worn look. Also I really wanted a Mustang. I am a little bummed that it did not come with a case or gig bag. The guitar feels great, needed to drop the action quite a bit but everything else was great. Real comfortable on the strap and better feel than the USA strat it is replacing (personal preferace thing). Also the sonic blue is the closest to one of his actual guitars out of the three colors available.
