Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Painted Headcap:

I bought a Condition Level 2 "Blemished" in Sea Foam Green, which actually looks more like that bluer green Aquamarine 1950s car color us older folks remember, and definitely NOT Surf Green (which is both paler and greener). It came with pick guard and neck pup still sealed in plastic. The hard shell case was TSA/ABS, flawlessly new, and had a thick embroidered Fender strap and Fender Cable in it. The guitar's paint finish was completely free of ANY scratches and blemishes ANYWHERE, not even a pick scuff! The rosewood had some mildly uneven, but NOT rough, finishing/sanding work on the 2nd and 3rd frets on the thumb side (top), and 1st through 10th frets on the finger side (bottom). However, this does not in any way impair stringing, playing, or hand/finger comfort. I imagine that the rosewood anomalies were basically the "blemished" feature that lowered the price, but none were on the fret board surface or between fretted areas. It wasn't bad enough to catch my skin or anything. Frets were dressed well, and action seemed set slightly high (quite possibly not the factory setup), strings were 9s. The minor rosewood "issue" may have just missed some proper QC inspecting before it was joined to the neck. This guitar and case package was worth what I paid for them. The guitar has nice tone with the 1958 Fender Custom Shop pups (which seem fairly hot), and great Telecaster sustain and clarity. One last comment: I have not yet weighed this ax, but it is definitely among the lightest in my collection of 11 Fender Teles and Strats. This surprised me, because I recently bought a MIM Butterscotch log that was weighed in at 9.68 at my luthier's. But it was swamp ash and not chambered, this one is alder and very probably weight-relieved. I doubt if it's even 7! I love it, even with its silly alleged "blemishes". It has personality and mood, is comfortable, and a keeper Tele, what can I say? I will get a perfect setup, maybe with 10s, and fix up that slightly sticking tone pot.

Comments about Fender Limited Edition American Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar Painted Headcap:

Just delivered today, this tele impressed me with the level of workmanship and attention to detail demonstrated on this guitar. Metallic paint is gorgeous and totally flawless. It plays like a dream: nice low action with absolutely no fret buzz. The neck is fast, and the frets are all perfectly dressed. Set-up out of the box was spot on. Intonation wasn't quite perfect, but was very close. I own several other guitars including Gibson, Gretsch, Martin, and several Fenders. I know after playing this one for just a couple of hours that this one will be a keeper.
