If you believe you need to spend a lot of money on an american built guitar to acquire a real player.......this guitar may be the one to change that belief.

This is the real-deal at a price point that will easily let you expand your hoard of guitars!

Rock On!
This guitar has all you need to jam, riff, and lick to your hearts desire. You will thoroughly enjoy the tones you can create with stock pick-ups and a setup right out of the box . A very robust set of P-90's and 3-way switch that feels and sounds like it locks in for a tight connection. Tone and volume controls will let you find the sound you are looking for.
Not one flaw on this guitar. The neck definitely has the playability and feel of high-end guitars. Frets are smooth and level---no fretting out. The mahogany body radiates 3-D depth. This guitar is worthy of display in a lit wall mounted display case to reveal its stunning looks. You will not be diappointed in the quality of this guitar. I have the Chocolate Burst style and the two color transition into the mahogany grain does not look machine processed at all. A beautiful guitar to admire.

PS Fender cares about quality right out of the box, there will be no need to send this one back for disappointing defects.
This guitar is under priced. I would not be surprised if Fender raises the price in 2012. Can not beat the value of this guitar. I believe the price point is currently set low because it is a new entry into the market (2011). Once this guitar attacts a following the price will go up.

Made the mistake of purchasing this online right when it first came out. I was overseas at the time, and I thought it was a good idea. Here are my complaints:

First, it feels light. The description says that it is made out of mahogany, so I expected it to have a nice, heavy feel to it. On mine, it seems as if the neck is almost heavier than the body, which I do not like.

Second, mine does not stay tuned at all. I keep it in the normal tuning, yet it can't go an entire song and keep its tune.

Third, and I've seen a few reviews that say this, it's noisy. I will admit that I'm no electrician, but the common consensus seems to be that the wireing is bad, which causes the insane buzzing sound that I'm hearing.

Finally, the neck action is pretty lame. And when I say lame, I mean it reminds me of the Squire Affinity Telecaster that I learned to play on about ten years ago. More to the point, the frettboard could be a bit smoother, as could the fretts themselves. It almost feels like they need filed down a bit.

The one positive comment that I have is that it does look very pretty. I like the agressive yet simple look that it has, but unfortunately, I prefer substance over looks. Moral of the story: do your research before buying an instrument, and take it for a test drive.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

This is a very simple / sober guitar, nothing fancy on it whitch is great for me (I love simple thinks) , great tune o matic fixed bridge for a good sustain, vintage machine heads and a great clasic look.

I'm giving it just 8 ponits on rating because it is not a high end guitar but compairing price against sound, quility and look it makes me think that 8 points it's a good rating.
I got this guitar as a present from my wife, I have never had a guitar with P-90's before and as soon I pluged it to my amp the lovely warm sound of these pick ups blowed my head away.

For a guitar that was crafted in China the finish and quality is good, the frets does not have those sharp edges and the painting job on the neck it's great. I have the black transparent and I love this color.

I think if you are a pro guitarrist maybe this is not a guitar for you but if you are an amateur like me get used to play guitars with active humbucker looking for a guitar with a vitange tone this might be a good option since it is not a very expesive guitar.
Nice quiality for a guitar crafted in China, great quality control by Fender.
Just for a great price you will get a nice guitar with great sound and nice finishings but sober.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

... others have said the same thing... Fender might have set the price point low on this to get some input...or just to introduce a new model.... either way i think it is a great price. i have paid much more and recieved much less.
as basic as it gets. 6 stings, 2 pickups, selector switch, volume and tone.
i have the two tone with the contour body. it is cooler than cool and slicker than snot on a doorknob.
for the price, excellent.

it was almost in tune out of the very well packaged box. i made a slight tweak to the bridge height and sanded the finish off the neck, then took it to practice. flawless.
buy it to play, drop, scratch and one day give to your kids.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

Let's be honest here. This is going to be a first guitar for somebody and that's where it's going to stay. Either the other reviewers are paid by Fender or they're incompetent. This thing was so noisy (buzzy) from lack of grounding it was impossible to play for more than a few seconds. Ran it through a Marshall JCM 900/half stack with Greenbacks. The ground wire was screwed into the electronics cavity with a brass screw. So it might have well just been hanging loose. I had to run a bit off spare wire under the bridge pickup and wind it around the bridge post then solder it to a pot. It worked and the only buzz is that of a typical cheap p-90. The engineering leaves no spot to string ground this guitar. Period. If you like Jags then you'll hate this one. It's a toy. So if you like toys you'll like this. Shop around.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

I recently purchased the two tone chocolate colored modern player Jaguar. All i have to say is, if you love 60's-70's sounding guitars, you will DIE from this guitar. Okay, so i do not know where to start, this is a sloppy review, but MAN! THIS GUITAR IS GREAT!!! The pictures do NOT justify the real beauty of this axe. I am just, in love with the two tone chocolate. It is just, incredible. NOW back to the tone... the p-90's- i am not sure about what type they are, but they are great! You can get some nice classic rock tones. BUT you can play any genre on this guitar. It is very versatile. Right now i am in a church band, and a experimental metal band. I got this at a [@], but all i can say is, this guitar is RIDICULOUS for the price it is out of this world. I just cannot believe the deal i got for this WONDERFUL guitar. It is so great! DEFINETLY get it is you are debating about it. It is WORTH it.

    Excellent

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

Wonderful guitar, sounds great, plays great, and stays in tune at a wonderful price. What more could you ask for. While I haven't tried the other Modern Player models I am confident they all are wonderful as well and are worth checking out!
Not much to complain about. Pretty simple design which is what I was looking for. The P90s are a great mix of humbucker and single coil tones, the neck feels great and plays extremely well. The finish is well done. The guitar holds stays in tune well. Great backup or main axe that is gig worthy. I to GC looking for a Modern Player Strat or Tele and fell in love with this. I own a 335 rip off and was looking for some single coil snap, the overwound P90s really are the best of both worlds. This guitar sounded wonderful through a Vox AC15.
Two minor flaws with the one I purchased.

One: Small piece of paint on volume knob
Two: Minor scuff on one of the frets mostly due to fret polishing at factory

Neither effects the performance at all. Made in China which may turn off some people people but the quality is not lacking in the least.
I have always been a Fender guy. I am very happy with the purchase, great guitar that reminds me of when you could buy a mexican strat for $300, very pleased Fender brought back an affordable line. If you are looking for a great axe at a reasonable price I believe this beats out most guitars on the market. I have tried most of the less expensive modals out there (Douglas and SX per rondo, Xavier by guitar fetish, Squier teles and Strats), while there are nothing wrong with these guitars, I would strongly recommended spending the extra money on Fender modern player instead. You will be very happy you did.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

The Chinese have improved the Squier for the years - to a point where it is a better instrument than the MIM's. No doubt this is a reason Fender granted the "Modern Player" line to them. Astonishing quality guitar for the amount paid. This Jaguar is not like it's predecessors - the twin p-90 single coils are wound differently than your typical 55 Splits or Tex Mex's. But power and fluidity these pups have! A serious gig worthy guitar for any genre from Country to Heavy Metal. My one "con", which is a personal one - the volume knob is a little too close to the bridge PU. It could be about 3/4 of an inch lower. But like I said, that's my perference - and I get around it.

Excellent Value! Do not over look this guitar

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

Really, I would never take the time to write a review but this guitar is a jem! I am a gear snob, if it isnt a 2 grand guitar I would never gig it....This guitar will be a gig player. I love the stripped down look and feel. The only thing I could mention as a con that I have found is the VOL/TONE pots. They give some control but a few bucks to upgrade for more control is just my style. Made in China is usually for me a stricktly practice guitar to smash around to practices. I can not stress enough that this guitar is right there next to my PRS and Strat as far as my favorites. The best part of this was its was a surprise present from my wife who seen how much I loved it and bought it for me without me knowing and I just bought another PRS that day!
Bare bones and straight to the point. 2 P-90s, Volume and Tone, 3 way switch
I must admit I picked this guitar up and loved it not knowing anything about the "My First Fender" Modern Player. I just was wow'ed by a neat finish and p-90's on a Jaguar. I played a ton of genre's through it and it was amazing right out of the gate. No low quality here.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Jaguar Electric Guitar:

These pickups DO sound good to me, but can be extremely microphonic (especially after I put Nickle/Silver covers on them). The simple cure is to pot them in wax; I have ZERO problems with microphonics after doing so.

Also, I do not like the tuners at all. Most of my guitars have locking tuners and after putting a set on this one, tuning improves a great deal, along with string changes. For a couple of small mods you'll have a great guitar at a great price.

I bought it mainly due to tendonitis problems and I'm hoping the shorter scale with less string tension and smaller frets will take some work out of my playing, but I have the Modern Player Thinline with same pickups (now potted) and they sound great with no noise.
