The Modern Player Series Short Scale Telecaster features a 24" scale and slightly downsized body that make it a delight for the diminutive player. That said, its long on other great features, such as a 9.5"-radius rosewood fingerboard with 20 medium jumbo frets, vintage-style single-coil Telecaster neck and middle pickups and - in a special touch - a powerful Guild "Anti-Hum" humbucking bridge pickup, a vintage-style synchronized tremolo bridge, and more.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

Without question it's one of the best sounding guitars I have ever owned (and I have had many over the years). I have been waiting for Fender to come out with a short scale Telecaster for years, and this one has definitely not been a disappointment. I couldn't have found anything that feels as good as this one does without having one custom made for me.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

This is a loveable little Telecaster! Really great chords, and especially lead sounds. Had a Fender Princeton amp, and a Boss overdrive for the trial. Sounded really nice. You could get down and dirty (WOW!) or balanced clean sounds. Really easy to get harmonics and choked lead. This is a real sassy little rock and roll and blues guitar! The nut is standard size, the length is similar to having a capo on the 2nd fret. The neck is a 50's-ish, 'short' fatty. Thick Chinese poly dark-aged gloss neck. Didn't see any real flaws in my copy. I may change the input jack plate as it is flimsy looking. Intonation is excellent. The strings are 11's on this short scale. I am wondering if interest in this guitar may produce an USA version with nitrocellulose lacquer. I am tempted to get the Stratocaster......

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

Fender has hit it out of the park with this short scale telecaster! I bought a short scale strat a few weeks earlier at Guitar Center....what a hassle. I had to deal with several lyin' schemin' sales people....major pain in the neck. Complete opposite experience with Musicians Friend...just called them, placed order and they delivered it right to my door. Doesn't get any better than that. This telecaster has tone to spare. With the vintage style ferrous bridge plate and three brass saddles you get vintage tele twang. You can dial in a variety of tones with the combination of the neck humbucker. After nearly 50 years of playing music and arthritis setting in, my hands aren't what they used to be.... but the short scale neck (24") makes playing easy again. Pick up the phone and order one today. You'll thank me later.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

First tried this out at my local GC and liked it. Ended up going back a few days later to play it again, A couple hours. I love short scale guitars and this one is NO exception. The one GC had was the White, Not Butterscotch model. I ordered the Butterscotch and like the look of it better. Mine came with ZERO blemishes and setup out of box is perfect for me. The quality ranks right up there with the Japan made Fenders. I am a rhythm player so the only having 20 frets doesn't bother me at all, But would have been nice to have at least 22 like my Mustang has. The only flaw this has is the Bridge pickup is overly bright, But can be dropped down with the tone knob, The neck pickup on the other hand is one of the best I have ever heard and worth the cost of the guitar.Super comfortable and easy to play. The China factories are stepping up their quality to match the Japanese with these Modern Player models. This is the 2nd one I own. The last they discontinued after 1 year(Mustang). Go try one out and I believe you will be impressed with these guitars. I know I am!!! As always MF customer service is top notch. Thanks and God bless!!!!!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

I am an intermediate level acoustic player that was looking to try electric. Being a smaller sized adult this guitar is perfect for me. It's smaller body and scale length is extremely comfortable to play. The finish and fret work is very nice and the setup out of the box was good. It stays in tune nicely and the neck is smooth. I don't feel I have the experience to comment on the quality of the pickups. The only issue I had was the knob on the three way switch fell so I just stuck it back on. Overall I am very happy with this purchase bottom line this is a fantastic little guitar for the money.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Short Scale Telecaster:

Plugged it in with the neck pick up, there's that Fender Strat tone! It's beautiful. Switch to the bridge to get the Tele twang. I have small fingers and a disabled neck, and this 24 scale is a breeze to play. Very excited to have a 24 scale guitar with Fender tones!
