The return of a fabled and seldom-heard Fender name from the 1960s.

The Fender Modern Player Stratocaster HSS—throughout its history, Fender® has always made a special point of welcoming new players to the family by offering entry-level instruments of remarkable style and substance (such as the Duo-Sonic™, Mustang® and Musicmaster® models), with great sound, classic looks, solid performance and eminent affordability. Buy this guitar if:your are looking to upgrade a well constructed guitar made from good quality woods..want a good quality guitar to play in the basement with your buddies.Don't buy this guitar if:you play metal and need to gig before swapping Pups, pots...
I like the push/pull split-coil. feature and HSS configuration. Also, 22 frets on a non-USA strat is a plus. The latter is one reason I stayed away from the MIM Strats. Vintage style tuners, vintage style tremolo, Alder body, Maple neck, Rosewood fretboard, nut is synthetic bone. 9.5" fingerboard radius.
I bought this guitar with the understanding that the electronics and hardware might be sub-par. My intent was to upgrade the humbucker with a Pearly Gates and swap out the single coils, as well as the caps/pots. While I think they sound pretty good, especially the single coils I am going through with the upgrade. The humbucker has pretty good definition but lacks the punch I like in a 'bucker. The split coil is a tad thin but it is certainly functional enough. Nice glassy strat tones from the single coils. The pickguard was the most disappointing thing about the guitar. Very cheap and has the feel of soft rubber. I compared it to my Epi LesPaul Custom ( yes, it is a Silverburst, too) and Fender obviously cut a corner here. The Vintage Tuners did their job and the Rosewood finger board is fast and smooth as butter. Frets are smooth and seated properly. The body is Alder not that softwood junk (Agathis) you find on Squires. The Maple neck was smooth and straight. Exceptional fit and finish. I got exactly what I hoped for...an inexpensive but well-made guitar that can be something special after a few upgrades. Vintage style tremolo seems like the one you might find in a MIM. I actually might keep it. Don't let the "Made in China" throw you. My MIC Epi Les Paul compares well to my Gibson Black Beauty in build quality. Besides, where do you think your iPhone was made? MAKE SURE YOU CHANGE THE STRINGS BEFORE PLAYING. I put 009 Boomers and it made a HUGE improvement over the Fender strings.
Even with the stock electronics you cannot beat this guitar for the money. Built at least as well, if not better than the MIM, although I think the MIM has superior electronics and pickguard. I have 4 kids and can't just drop 1000-2000 bucks on a new guitar anymore, so I like to find inexpensive but well made ones to upgrade over time. That is what this guitar is. Word of the wise to you single guys. Get your expensive gear before your married and have kids

Packaged very well.Paint job was flawless.Got the white one.Weight was excellent.Vintage tuning gears nice.Tremelo was good aswell. Now for the bad.Input jack nut had to be tightened,no big deal.Setup was needed, once again not a big deal.Major problem was the fret job.Over rounded edges, too flat.Couldn't feel them. Not alot of sustain.I wanted to keep this guitar. So try one out thouroughly for yourself before you buy, like you should with any instrument.I'll send this one back and look again in future. For the price you should take a look. The exchange policy was EASY.So don'y be afraid to try it out.Nice guitar.Mine just wasn't.

I had to do a complete set up because I use lighter strings than came on it but even that was small adjustments, afterwards it had no fret buzz perfect intonation and good playability . it has a bright crisp sound.seems very well made ,I'm very happy

I got the Olympic white.Took it to a Luthier and had it checked out.I had to spring about 100 to reset the neck and put on new strings. He said that this is typical for an electric. Now,it is one fine guitar.

I just got this Strat delivered today...bought a "used:like new" condition. I gotta say...for a "Made in China" I was pleasently surprised.Has same quality as my Mexican,Japanese and US strats.Mine has zero problems out of the box....dont even need a basic setup.I can not figure out why someone possibly returned this guitar......it is a "keeper"

Comments about Fender Modern Player Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I've been wanting a silverburst strat for a while now and I finally got my chance. I bought this guitar a few months ago and I loved the color. I started to play it and, just like almost every guitar I've ever pick up, I needed to set it up how I like it. That's not a complaint. I think everyone likes they're neck set differently. Anyway, after I set it up, I plugged it up thru my effects that I run for my gigs and it had a killer tone. I think I might change the pick-ups in it at some point but it's not a dire need. I would definitely recommend this guitar to others.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Stratocaster HSS Electric Guitar:

I have owned this guitar for 10 months now and couldn't be happier. The only issue I have is the input jack periodically needs tightening. Wide range of tones with these pickups. The humbucker initially sounded weak but after being broken in, it really growls. Thrash is about the only genre this guitar can't do. The single coils give you the quack and spank and great Mark Knopfler, SRV tones. Excellent build quality. I really don't see any difference between this guitar and my old American Standard. The Silverburst finish is beautiful. I am so impressed that I intend on buying the MP Thinline Tele and Marauder. Get this guitar!

I have wanted a Strat, not a Squier, but a Strat again since I had to let mine go many years ago. Under $400, this was a steal. Needed setup, but many guitars do when they are shipped, but it wasn't that bad at all. The humbucker is a little weak, but in comparison to other 'stock' pickups, it's not too bad. Very nice paint job, I got the Olympic White. Very pretty guitar. I love playing it and am getting tones, especially in the neck position, that I haven't been getting from my other guitars.
