I own Telecasters made in the USA, in Japan, in Korea, in Mexico and yes, even in China. This guitar is flat out an unbelievable value and absolutely gorgeous. As far as the pine material, I have no worries whatsoever (and I have been a professional woodworker all my life) about any screws pulling out of this guitar. This is not your lumber yard pine - it's heavy and it's dense and no softer than alder or basswood, so have no fear. The pine body is also part of why I bought this guitar - it's different! Love it!
I've been wanting a Tele with H-S-S pickups for a long time and now I've finally got it. Five-way switching, plus the coil-tap toggle are a nice change from standard 3-way Teles, though the coil-tap is a little weak sounding. The neck is a beautifully quarter-sawn piece of maple and the vintage style tuners work fine. I really like the through-body stringing and the hard-tail bridge, too!
Right out of the box (pre-ordered mine sight unseen from MF) I was amazed at the quality of the trans-charcoal finish and just the downright beauty of this guitar. NOTE: This guitar looks VERY different from the picture on this site and on Fender's site as well - it is much darker and from a distance of six feet or more, you'll have a hard time seeing the grain. That said, this guitar is as well put together as any of the other 9 Teles that I own. If it weren't for the Made In China on the back of the headstock, you'd be hard put to guess where this guitar was made!
My title says it all - the best money I ever spent on a new guitar!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

Although I don't own this guitar, my friend just bought one. I played it today and was very favorably impressed. The fit and finish appeared to be first rate. The action was low and this didn't look or feel like a cheap guitar in any way. With a 5 way switch plus a coil splitter this is a very versatile guitar that should work for most musical styles. If you need a Tele that can cover a lot of ground and won't break the bank, don't overlook this one...

I like this guitar for what I was able to get it for. First made in China guitar, and it's passable, playable, and enjoyable for home use. Would really have to torture the guitar over long use to give valuable assessment for professional use.

If you don't like this guitar, then you must have played that one guitar that slipped through the cracks during inspection, if that ever happened. The quality is excellent for the price I paid! The pick up packs a punch compared to other Telecasters I have played with a bigger price tag.
Pine has a great tone and they have not used pine in a good while concerning Telecasters.

The Most versatile guitar I've ever played. Such a wide range of tones with all these great pickups. I bought this guitar online before even trying it out and let me tell you I was not let down. I play anything from The Beatles & Zeppelin to The Smashing Pumpkins & Foo Fighters and it has NO PROBLEM pushing out these sounds. Did I mention how beautiful this guitar looks? Do yourself a favor and buy it, best 400 you'll ever spend.

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

After 10 years of playing acoustic guitar, and 15 years playing drums and percussion, and a few years after inheriting an electric bass: I finally decided to buy my first electric guitar. I don't play music for my day job, but have experience teaching drums and playing drums and guitar with groups. What drew me in was the fender name, the tele design, the wood grain finish, the pickup options and it fit my budget. This particular guitar stands out because of its immense value. I loved the idea of 7 different pickup options! So many styles and sounds! The honey burst finish is beautiful and is better in person.. the pine! The pick-ups are decent. I've played american standards on tube amps and played drums for bands with them.. so I appreciate the difference.. and I'm a fidelity/tone nerd, so I might upgrade a pick-up or two in the future. The action is terrific for being strait out of the box.. I might have my luthier look at when I upgrade pickups. The pick guard had a cosmetic issue when it arrived, but all else was perfect. I got on musiciansfriend.com and used the live chat feature for help with the issue. The representative fixed the issue within 10 minutes and was very willing to help. I give 5 stars and couldn't be happier. Check out the Danelectro Honeytone Mini Amp -- Also a great value!

Comments about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Plus Electric Guitar:

I've got a ton of guitars, including several American-made models from Gibson, Fender and Guild. For what MF is charging, this thing is a steal. I bought it sight unseen (which I never do) and loved it immediately. Incredible versatility - everything from chicken pickin' to huge metal tones and all tones in between. Very quiet in position 4, as well as when using the bridge PU. Should you spend your time and money and replace all of the pickups? Not unless you have nothing better to do. It's great at what it sets out to do: give you a stage-ready axe that looks great, plays great, and sounds great, and won't make you freak out if it gets a ding. I will be changing out the mini-toggle for a push-pull volume pot to activate the coil tap for the bridge HB - which sounds great, by the way, if you raise it up a hair from its factory setting - only because I find that you can change the setting by accident if you're flailing away. USA-made guitars are great, but the prices are ridiculous. As in: Ridiculous. If you did a blindfold test, you would absolutely buy one. So if you don't want to bring your precious babies out into the clubs, this is a great choice. Enjoy.

This guitar is no joke! I thought i was gonna return this right after i get it out of the box.. But as soon as i saw its flawless finish (i got the honeyburst), i started changing my mind and said to myself i should give it a chance. I plugged in to my peavey jsx with suhr riot pedal and i could never stop playing. The tone is just amazing! I never liked the telecaster before and ive tried so many of em (US made even!) i think this guitar has a big range of tones compared to the other ones. You can do country to kotzen! I dont mind the pine body. Its as warm as the alder. This is not for metal. But hey, who's stopping you!

First of all I have been playing guitar for about
2 years and thanks to the MF sales techs I have tried out quite a few guitars. I simply love this MP Tele Plus.
The setup only needed a tweak on the neck, played great compared to my US Strat Special at half the price.
Some reviews I read did not care for the pups but
for my ability they are terrific. The Honey burst finish is beautiful and the maple neck finish glows.
Buy one you will not be disappointed.
