I got this guitar on Friday and just returned home from my first practice with my praise and worship team. I got compliments on the tone of this guitar compared to my other Made In Japan tele. The neck is smooth as silk and plays so easily. The pots are smooth have a very nice taper to them. The 3 position switch with these pickups is right on the money. The tex mexbridge has that nice tele spank. The neck humbucker is smooth and mellow. It is perfect for rhythm. The in middle position is truly right in between. Good for solos or rhythym. The road worn finish isn't over done. It just looks like I have been playing it for a few years. The guitar doesn't look like a piece of junk like previous road worn guitar. I couldn't be any happier with this purchase. I am impressed wit the quality of guitar Fender is building in Mexico. I didn't give it 5 on features because it is a Tele. Us tele lovers don't care about features, we care about tone and playability. This guitar has both.

I wanted to love this guitar. It fits like a glove and is really cool looking. The Candy Apple finish looks road worn but not too, too much.

The tone in the neck humbucker was WAY to muffled and not nearly articulate enough for me. There is a lack of treble. The bridge pickup is pretty good, but not great with gain. A bit thin, but if the Duncan '59 worked in the neck, I'd have kept it. I understand that they went with 350k pots in these(normally 500 for humbuckers and 250 for singles). I think splitting the difference didn't help.

In addition, the guitar came damaged, but that could have been freight. Anyway, The guitar is being returned. Nice try, but not quite Fender.

For what it's worth, I highly recommend the Road Worn Player Strat HSS. It looks cool, plays great and the tone is awesome if you like a humbucker on a strat.

I had doubts about buying such an ugly looking body on a guitar but I am glad I did get one. It is an awesome guitar and a blast to play. Now I do not worry about small scuffs or dings ..... only needs to sound and play good. This one will do all of that and much more!!!

If you love Tele's ----- you will love one of these raod worn models. I got the black and may paint it someday but for now I enjoy it just like it is ...... great idea Fender!

Comments about Fender Road Worn Player Telecaster Electric Guitar:

This guitar plays great. Setup out of the box was spot on. With just a little tuning I was off and running. I've only owned it for about a week now but I play it everyday.
However, when it first arrived and I started playing I noticed my hand kept hitting the volume knob. This was because the control plate was installed BACKWARDS. The toggle switch should have been located near the front of the guitar and the volume and tone knobs near the rear. Just flipping the plate around didn't completly solve the problem since now the volume and tone knobs were reversed. with a little manipulation and some soldering I was able to solve the problem and now the guitar functions as a tele should. With that problem solved the guitar plays and sounds fantastic. I can only imagine some one in the factory is looking at the drawings upside down.

I didn't realize it was MIM but once I got over it, I saw it for what it's worth. The deciding factor was the low price. That usually equates to low quality. The control plate was installed backwards and in order to get the pots right, I'd have to rewire it. The overall tone is fine and will give you plenty of the Tele twang to make you feel like Roy Buchanan and enough grit to be Joe Strummer. It's a fun guitar but if you don't mind spending more, you might want to invest in the USA product

While I'm not a professional player, I've been playing guitar & bass since 60's & mostly a hobbyist now at my rip old age. I do know a quality instrument & a good feeling one. These rate up there for a "Mexican" Fender Tele & better in my opinion than many Americans which I have several. If you like Teles, this feels likes your best pair of worn out shoes you can't part with. Tone is solid & the road wore look is not over done & period correct for a well used 25-30 yr. guitar. Some complain of a major set-up, guess I lucked up, all I had to do is tune mine & put some lemon oil on back of neck & play. I think however a hard case, even if cheaper one, would have been nicer than a gig bag at this price point but over all as stated a "players" tele guitar & then some. Have had several other working Musicians check it out-all say "Nice"! Good for most any style! Not disappointed at all! Quit think'n 'bout & just Getcha some & Rock it! A solid practical kick-butt work horse keeper!!

Very nice guitar. Played great right out of the box. Humbucker gives it a little more versatility than your standard tele, and the middle setting is particularly nice. Relic job on the body is pretty light, but it matches my 76 strat on the wall pretty closely. Whoever reliced the neck knew what they were doing! The look, and more importantly the feel, are perfect. My best stupid deal yet!

Comments about Fender Road Worn Player Telecaster Electric Guitar:

I have the black model. It plays great and looks like you are going to a blues jam in Chicago. It plays like a dream and sounds like it looks!
