Features: 8Well, it has a lot of neat things that come with it. However, the "gig bag" and the pitch pipe are trash...get a cheap yamaha tuner for, great investment into guitar playing, and also get a decent case. Other than that, it has a lot of picks and the book is great for learning.Quality: Now, dont get me wrong, the quality is really good. The top is made of a very good quality wood, and the sides are made of Nato. I think the Nato back and sides are great. solid spruce top, what can I say, some martins have a spruce top too :)Now, heres the tricky part, when I bought mine as a beginner, the action was really high, really sucked for learning. The frets were great, not sharp at all. The neck is great. Now, Soundwise...It sounds decent with factory strings, however, when I put on a new set of Dean Markley strings, it sound AMAZING...it competes with really expensive guitars. Really bright full sounding guitar. In summary, if you know how to set up a guitar properly (or can get your music store, or somebody to set it up for you) then this is a great guitar. Great guitar though, I learned on this thing! and now, I still play it even though I play a lot more electric guitar and own a marshall half stack and several electric guitars. That how much I love this acoustic.

This was the first guitar I ever purchased. I went into a local music shop with a friend. They were offering some beginner packages for the same price listed here. There were two packages in this price range - Squier and Ibanez. I remember that the Squier had a much brighter and cleaner sound, so I purchased it. The guitar was strung and tuned at the shop. The guitar itself is pretty basic. It's a six-string with a natural finish on the top. The rest of the guitar is black (including the fretboard). The first thing I noticed about the guitar was how much it made my fingers hurt. The strings would leave wicked marks on my left hand. This is due to the action being incredibly high. The bridge is set way too high. This makes bar chords quite a challenge at first. The action on this guitar is probably the least attractive feature. The guitar also had the tendency to drop big chips of wood from soundhole when I first got it. I'm not sure if it got damaged in shipping or what, but the quality can't be too good if it's just dropping wood chips out. One thing I can say to the guitar's credit is that I've pounded this thing for at least 400 hours and it still plays well and is holds the tuning pretty well. With the stock strings, the guitar sounds really bright and the lows are really nice. The higher notes get twangy and don't sound very nice at all. All in all, it's a pretty basic guitar. There's a lot of starter packs around the same price. I wish I would have spent more time playing around with the guitars and really getting a feel for them. I imagine that most guitars around this price point are very generic.I really wish I would have purchased a better guitar to begin with. However, this guitar served it's purpose and is a decent enough instrument to carry you into the world of music.

Awesome guitar

By Morgan

from Undisclosed

This guitar was my first guitar, and so far, still the best. I have a Celebrity Ovation, and the sound is 5X better than it on this guitar. The strap sucked, but it didnt matter too much, since i hate standing and playing anyway. The case scratches the guitar, and takes away the integredy of it, but that can easily be changed for a mere 20 bucks. A great guitar to learn on. Over all, the best acoustic you can get for 100 bucks.

Sure can't beat price!

I have to say for the price this guitar is well worth the money..A very playable guitar with a smooth feel and a nice tone..suprisingly well built for a 99 dollar guitar..everything they add with the guitar is basically junk though..so after u toss that junk aside pick up this guitar and you'll probably be suprised at its playabilty for the cost............

Not bad

This was my first guitar about a year ago and it worked great! What made it so nice was the feel of it, it is really comfortable. To this day I will still brang it by for some band practice or gigs. Now that I have gone into the good parts like all reviews there are down sides to it. The main one is the nut, the nut slot on the low E broke in the first week I had it and I took very good care of it. Another down is now (one year later) the wood is starting to split under the sound board right behing the sound hole. Besides that I think this a great guitar!Oh and I suggest martin SP mediums for strings.

Good Guitar

By Great-s-MOJ

from Struthers, OH

I thought this guitar was good for the money. I'm a true beginner. Never played a guitar in my life before I bought this. I thought it had a good sound, accessories aren't too great though. The picks and book are about the only useful things. The gig bag is too small, the guitar barely fits inside, the strap isn't too good, and the pitch pipe is useless. You'll definitely need to buy a tuner. Anyhow the guitar is good and that's what really matters.

Awesome!

By Bada

I just got my guitar today and I absolutely can't let go of it. I liked everything that came with the guitar but I don't really like the gig bag. Although, I have seen worse! The strings on the guitar do need to be changed though. They don't really project a very appealing sound. But overall, this was a great deal! I recommend it for you beginners out there!

Excellent Guitar, Great Price

By VAGuitar0125

from Virginia

The Squier SA-100 is my first guitar, and I've been playing about 6 weeks. However I've also had an opportunity to try out several guitars that my friends own.The guitar is great. I'm considering re-stringing it, but I'm not sure about that yet as it sounds fine to me. The quality of the tone is high -- and although the E and A strings sometimes ring a bit too long, it's not a big deal. Basically I'm WAY satisfied with the price investment I put into playing guitar with the fun it has given me.The gig back is hard to use -- it's only real use is for protecting the guitar from rain. The picks that are included are high quality Fender Mediums that I would use again.

OK for a starter

By Nick Peters

I got this guitar for christmas and it was ok.When I got better and learned more about guitars I noticed that this guitar has ALOT of buzz, and the pitch pipe tuner is just... horrible.. I mean if your starting guitar with a squier get an easier tuner like an electric one. So this is not that great but its good for starting.
