The reviews on this guitar are the biggest bunch of misinformation ever! From complaints about the pickups are not Seymour Duncan, they are, to the tight spacing of the strings. The strings are about 1/20 of an inch tighter than my other teles. That is so small it just doesn't matter. Divide it by 5 spaces and you have 1/100 of an inch difference between strings. Rust and oxidation? This guitar finish is impeccable no oxidation at all on mine. The light weight and the beautiful sounds from these pickups are unbelieveable. Big frets, smoked hardware which does tarnish so wipe it down sweathogs. With binding and huge abalone dots, nice saddles that don't have setscrews digging into your hand, super smooth tuners, it plays amazing and feels good. Now they moved the mfg. from Korea to Indonesia so mines a 2012 and it is Indonesia, but looks like the same level of quality as the Korean which is top notch. Buy this guitar! It's amazing!

This guitar has many nice features and the light weight is the first thing I noticed when picking it up. I bought this guitar based on the information that it is a Telecaster Special Edition; key word, Telecaster. Little did I know that the nut on this guitar would be the narrowest Telecaster ever to my knowledge. I expected a Telecaster nut width in the neighborhood of 1.675"-1.685". This guitar has a nut width of 1.625" and that is just too narrow for average man fingers. My bad for not checking this little detail but I expected something typical of the Telecaster name. An important departure from the Telecaster beyond cosmetics, pickups and controls should have been covered in the overall description. Live and learn! BTW: this guitar feels and plays nothing like a Les Paul as some mentioned in a review. But then it's not like a Telecaster either.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

Please stop comparing it to a classic Telecaster. This guitar was never designed to be a standard Tele, it was designed to be Fender's alternative to Gibson's Les Paul. I've had both, and I love this guitar! For the money this is a beauty... carved top, thin contoured body, set neck, bound neck and body, humbucker pickups. It feels more like a Gibson than a Fender. I have many guitars and this one has become my go-to for songwriting, practicing, and recording. The neck feels great, the heel is unobtrusive, the fretboard is more Gibson-style than Fender Tele/Strat style. If you're looking for a classic Fender Telecaster, don't buy this guitar. If you're looking for a great playing and sounding guitar at a great price, I highly recommend this guitar!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I own 7 electric guitars and they all have unique qualities. This telecaster FMT HH (does anyone know what those letters are supposed to mean?) is a really fun guitar to play and produces many different tones. It has become my "go to" practice guitar.

I have an American Deluxe Tele which has better "Tele" tones and a wider range of sounds. But it is much heavier. The FMT HH is so easy to just grab and play away on. The thin neck is pretty fast and the pickups are fabulous. Another reviewer said they were not SDs, but they say "Semour Duncan" on them so I think that is what they are!

I have an Epiphone Les Paul with SD pickups that sound beautiful. The ones on the FMT HH are a bit warmer sounding. When you go to the single coil you have to increase the volume a bit but they definitely increase the number of sounds you can get. My Les Paul gets a jazzy sound that can easily go towards fusion and Santana, the FMT HH gets a jazzy sound that is bouncier and has more of an open "archtop" kind of sound. There are videos on YouTube that do a great job of demonstrating this guitar's sound and versitility.

I have the yellow/maple model and it's beautiful. I would not buy a guitar based on what it looked like, but this one is an amazing combination of low price, great looks, great sound and fun to play. What's missing? Nothing!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I was a bit skeptical when I ordered this guitar, my Strat and LP are American made and I believed the antiquated press that foreign guitars are inferior to American made. So I bought this guitar because it seemed interesting, (and I got a great deal). It arrived within a couple of days and in perfect condition. The pickups can create a very aggressive tone, like a LP growl, great country tones, or smooth jazz. The neck plays smoother and faster than any other guitar I have owned and I have owned all of the major "go to" guitars. I am finding that I get the best tone quality and control without using my EQ pedal, I haven't figured why but why isn't always important. Sustain is also great. Many posts have complained about the fret work, however, what I have found is that these frets will feel rough if you are too forceful. My LP is like that, too. I needed to learn to "float" over the finger board with a very light touch on both guitars. The Strat, on the other hand needs a firmer grip. I would recommend this guitar if you want a very affordable, quality instrument. It is made in Indonesia, so what, my cars are made in Japan, my TV made in Viet Nam, cables from China, etc.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

This is easily the best guitar I have ever played for this amount of money. I was looking for a new, inexpensive guitar at a local music store and here was this beauty just hanging on the wall. I fell in love the instant I held it. I went back to the store the next week and it was gone, but I just had to have this guitar so I ordered it. There is nothing else like it. Then amber finish is absolutely stunning, but that's not the best part. The Duncan pickups have a great tone and in combination with the selector and coil splitter you get a wide range of tones from cutting highs to chunky bass which makes this the most versatile guitar I own. Some might complain that this guitar is lacking in fullness compared to a Les Paul, but that's all made up for in versatility. It played perfectly right out of the box without any setup. The only problems I have ever had with this guitar is that the jack seems to come loose too often, even after multiple tightenings and the black hardware tarnishes quickly if not wiped off after every use. Definitely worth the money (and it plays way better then my friend's $2000 Les Paul.)

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar from another site for a little over 400, brand new. The pickups and tuners were worth that. I was somewhat skeptical, because I have always bought USA Fender and Gibson. However, what a surprise! This thing is beautiful, plays very fast and smooth. The sound and adjustment were also good. I did customize the adjustments for my own tastes. I grew up when guitars were not factory set-up, strung and tuned. I find it funny that some people complain that their guitar arrives, via rough shipment and temp changes, out of tune or the bridge needs tweaked. Good grief, buy a screwdriver!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

Off the bat, no where on this guitar will you find the name "Telecaster". You will find the word "Fender" however. I don't pretend to know what lurks in the minds of the Fender higher ups but this is my second version of this model and I love 'em both. It's some sort of hybrid that owes more to Les Paul the Leo Fender. The result is a pleasant and somewhat familiar Tele feel and shape with a pronounced "Gibsony" tone and glossy appointments. My first is a Goldtop style with white DiMarzio humbuckers. I bought it used in 2011 so I'm not sure of it's actual age. I just added the Black Cherry Burst with Seymour Duncan's as it appears in this ad. Both are very nicely made with excellent finishes and fit. More reminiscent of a Gibson or Epiphone overall. Mine have flawless electronics unless you consider the slight gain loss when employing the coil split option a flaw. Both are similar in that they have a noticeably brighter tone than any Gibby/Epi I've ever played. I'd say an SG is closest. Bottom line is this guitar is a light, well built, attractive and unique winner that I am proud to do any gig anywhere.

Light weight, Awesome action, Beautiful finish, and even better sound. The coil select is hands down the best feature, giving you the traditional crisp fender sound in single coil mode, and a more gibsonesque sound in humbucker mode.
Despite what others have said, mine came with the Seymore Duncan pickups. I did have to adjust the saddles a bit, but overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

This guitar opened the gateway to telecasters for me. Was always a les paul and sg guy. Jammed for hours on them in guitar shops. Got enough money together for a new guitar. First brand new one. Saw this one hanging on the wall, played it, bought it and never looked back. Pups are not super hot, which I like, but not vintage souding either, which I also like. Finally got around to setting it up after a few years, yes it was that good (and i got better sooo...)and the saddle screws were locked up with oxidation. Little penetrating oil and off we go. Took a few trys to get the action right, and the bridge shows some oxidation, but i treat my gear like hell and this thing just will not stop. Dropped, dragged, left outside, stepped on. Scraped up banged up and every chip and ding makes that finish look even better to me. Almost bought a les paul recently. Put new strings on, played a few pauls and sg's, changed my mind. This is it for me. Duncans sound great, even when split (volume lowers but we should all know that already) through my marshall tsl and my fender 100 solid state (high mileage backup ;)). Not a traditional guitar, isn't supposed to be and I say play one first. It'll suprise you. Oh mines red if it really matters.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I have been playing one of these guitars for 7 years and I must say it is simply a fantastic guitar. I have played strats, les pauls, explorers, and full body teles and I would choose this over any of them. I play a lot of long gigs and even longer practices, the thinline body definitely helps with my shoulder!

The sound this guitar can generate makes me smile every time I play and I'm constantly complimented not on how I play but the tone I get from this thing. If you don't have one already, get one. You won't be dissapointed.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I tried many of these before I gave up and realized there were inherent flaws with this guitar.

First of all, I'm not exactly sure what the one reviewer on here is saying about this guitar not coming with Seymour Duncan pickups. Every model i tried had Seymour Duncans in it. Not all Seymour Duncans are silk screened with a logo on it. The only way to tell is to pull the pickup out and look at the back.

Secondly, this guitar is heavily over priced for what it is. The body of this guitar is incredibly thin. Thinner than any guitar I have ever played, hands down. If you're expecting a chunky Tele type body, this will not deliver. If you're expecting a resonant body, this guitar will not deliver.

It is cheaply made. On every guitar I tried, the frets had some oxidation or rust on them. The truss rod hole was filled up with laquer which made it impossible to set up without drilling out some of the laquer. The pots were loose and the bridge saddles were loose and crooked.

For the price of this guitar, none of the mentioned items above should be a problem. I don't expect the guitar to be perfect, but the areas mentioned are amazingly obvious to any human quality assurance checker before it is boxed up. The oxidized/rusted frets are incredibly concerning to me as every single one I tried out (4 total) had this same problem. What are they using for fret wire on this thing?

After reading the reviews I decided to give the guitar a chance, not a good idea. The body shape is great. Very comfortable and light guitar. After receiving the guitar I spent many hours trying to set the intonation and it just wasn't happening, so after taking it to a tech. he told me the neck had a twist in it from around the nut to the second fret and without major fretwork it would not play true. Along with this problem, the tuners would not keep the guitar close to being tuned. Sorry guys, I had to send this one back.

I bought this guitar a few weeks ago and I am amazed by it. As noted above, this guitar is very high quality in every sense. I own an Am Std Strat, Gibson Les Paul and this guitar will stand up against either of my US made guitars. I can get a ton of tones out of it w/wo pedals. The neck almost plays itself, I just think about where I want my fingers to go. I like to add a little reverb, a lot of treble and do crazy pickin'. This is NOT just a beginners guitar. That is a total myth. This guitar is made in Indonesia and is very high quality. Period.

I received this guitar used as a Christmas present in 2005. This is a 2002 or 2003 model I believe, it came with the Fender humbuckers. Great craftsmanship in a Korean guitar, I played it as is for a couple of years with no issues, on a whim I had a set of boutique pickups wound for it and so glad I did, it gave it a whole new spectrum of tone. Sadly, I haven't seen this guitar for about a year now, I loaned it to my uncle who has many guitars, and he uses this one for recording.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I started playing guitar in the 60's and have had Gretch, Fender, Ibanez and Epiphone and this Tele FMY is one of the best playing guitars i have ever played. But it really is too pretty to play, I wouldn't want to put a mark on one of the prettiest flame tops I have seen. Forget about the pictures, this thing opos under stage lighting. I bought the amber color and the finish is perfect and the neck and body binding is a nice touch. The rosewood fret board is a s dark as ebony and smooth and not dry at all. The frets are finished nicely. The mahogany neck has a gloss finish but is not sticky as some Gibsons I have played. The mahogany head is finished like the back and sets it off from the usaual Tele look. I play Blues but this thing can handel anything. The tone knob is more usable than my American Standard Tele and allows you to get a very warm jazz tone and the Tele twang is there too with a twist of the knob. The coil tap is great but you do loose volume when used. I find myself playing rhythm on single coil and push in the tone knob for for that humbucker sound and a volume boost for solos. This guitar is a Les Paul want-to-be but in a good way. The LP tone is there but in a Tele shape. Out of the box the action was so low with no string buzz that i had to raise it to what I like. I tuned it and set the intonation and now I'm good to go. My American Standard costs alot more but the FMT has become my number one.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar about 2 years ago and not only is it stunning with its Amber finish it also plays really easily too with such a slim neck profile. I have no problems with my small hands just shredding the heck out of the fretboard and I can reach the 22nd fret without any issues since the neck is set the way it is. I did dock a point on quality because the smoked chrome will tarnish over time on the hardware and the tuners are kind of hard to keep exact at all times. The pickups are amazing and sound very nice, they give the guitar that PAF sound that I love and use for classic rock, hard rock, and blues. The only thing is its not meant to play death metal but it'll cover any other genre as long as you don't need tons of bass, the coil taps are a huge plus since it can do that strat or tele sound without switching guitars all the time ecspecially if you are on a budget cause this guitar is not a bad price for all the features you are getting. The paint job and build quality could easily rival and American made fender and you are saving a few hundred bucks in the long run. Give this guitar a try and I honestly don't think you'll regret it, just do it before Fender hikes up the price on this one as well.

This is a telecaster for the musician that wants great playability and great, versatile tones in a classic shape from a classic brand. The telecaster contains two humbuckers with coil split. You can get many great sounds from jazz to hard rock. The neck is not a bult-on and feels very good to play on. It is a polyurethane finish that isn't rough on your hand when you slide your hand up and down the neck. It has cut aways on the body to give it a more comfortable feel. It stays in tune well but not perfect. Bridge is solid. It is light weight and very beautiful. I highly recommend this instrument, especially for the price.
