Let me just say that Fender has done yet another awesome job on this guitar. The price is unbelieveable. The feel is aswesome, even for an electric. The neck is different than a less paul or an SG. It doesn't have neck binding, huge trapizoide markers, or a thick finish on it, just the softest, fastest wooden neck on the face of the earth, sometimes the strings feel just a tad loose, but that's just because the neck is almost too easy to play on. The body is traditional strat, it isn't all box-like like some of those cheap copies are, it's got the rounded 3D contured shape I expected from a good Fender. It was made to be played and fits on you like no other guitar i've ever seen. As to the sound, I play it through a Line 6 Spider II 112 and it sounds awsome. The humbucker pickup is wounderful for clean or distortion. Though I like it better for distortion and one of the single coils better for blusey or clean tones. Great tone veritility. One thing I do want to say about the pickups, I just can't get a wailing strat tone, 'cause the bridge doesn't have a single coil, for this reason, and this reason only, i'd subjest getting an american fat strat 'cause it's got s1 switching alloweing you to change the hummbucker to a single coil. But don't get me wrong, this is a really great guitar and i've had no problems with it. And don't think it's really worth spending alot of extra money to get s1 switching unless you are really serisoue about a strat tone. Played through my spider II, which is like the most veritile amp around, you can get SO many different sounds. It's wonderful. another note on the amp, it's really aswome too, all the effets are simply wonderful, lacking alittle bit of profesional distortion but really good. And i'm not just one of those easy-to-please type people that put all 10's, i'm seriouse about my music. Get this guitar, you won't be dissapointed.

I expected so much out of a fender. I read great reviews and watched shows that boasted fender?s great quality. But this guitar doesn?t last up to its name. I would say this is the perfect beginners guitar. I wanted the best out of a guitar. But this doesn?t cut. First the hum buckers and the pickups are not caught up with this guitar. Its hard to equalize all the strings you can adjust the pickups and the humbuckers but you still end up having a few strings louder than the rest so you will end up with a lot of "icepick". Also the multi switch when switched doesn?t change the sound that much. My other cheap guitar does a great job at that. The humbuckers have such a horrible sound that I can't imagine using them again. It's sad to say that if you buy this guitar, you're really just paying for the name Fender. This guitar does have some good qualities, the fret board is pretty fast and the guitar does have the classic fender sound, but only when your strings are new.

Phat Strat

By JohnPaulGeorgeandRingo

I bought this little baby about a year ago and i couldnt be more pleased, now my band plays everything from the Beatles to Metallica and this baby can play it all. I would recomend if you have the ca$h to get a USA strat to do it but if your low on funds this is the guitar to get.

Wow. That's all I can say. This guitar is so freakin'sweet. I have owned it for about a year now, and I can't say much else but 'wow'. I mean if it's good enough for Mr. Jonny Allen Hendrix and Eric Clapton, it should be good for anyone. It is probably one of, if not THE most versatile guitar out there. How can you go wrong with all the different pickup configurations and tone settings, and that's excluding all the other effects stuff and amps you may have. One of the sweetest settings I use is some decent distortion, use the neck pickup, and roll the tone knob down a bit. I'll tell ya it is smooth as silk. Just the perfect bit of bite and Go out to a guitar shop and try a bunch out before you buy one, but definitely keep your eye on this fat strat. Mine is artic white with a rosewood neck, and I'm planning to put a tortoise shell pickguard on. That thing is gonna be sweet. Anyway, this is one hell of a guitar and you would be foolish not to play one.

I have one of these mexican fat strats except it is a custom one. It has a rosewood fingerboard, pearloid pickguard and a metallic red finish. It has a nice crunch that it gets from its humbucker but I am going to change it to a seymour duncan custom (not custom custom) humbucker.

BUY IT NOW!

By DJ Beavis

from Lucas, Tx

I bought my Fat Strat to get another electric since my Wal-mart starters electric broke on me. A friend of mine told me it would be a good guitar for a mediocre player like myself. He's a moron. This guitar would be awesome for anyone. it's humbucker has a sweet, warm sound that I've never heard from any guitar. And it looks great at that (mine's artic white). If you buy it you won't regret it at all.

Very nice guitar. The neck is smooth as silk. The addition of the bridge humbucker makes this guitar all you'll need for many playing styles.

This guitar is the best! It took me about a couple of weeks to break it in and now it just rocks. You have the Stratocaster sound for a very good price and quality. Beautiful finish (mine is Midnight Wine and Maple fretboard)and it keeps in tune. The Hummbucker is a little flat though.I'm very satisfy and having a lot of fun with it.

One of the best.

By Jimmy Page wannabe

from Morgan City, LA

This was my Christmas gift to me and I am very satisfied with it. Pros: Its so versatile you can play any style. Looks awesome in any color. Tons of upgrades and replacement parts from many different companies.Cons:You need to invest in strap locks, my guitar has scars to back up that little tip.The whammy bar is useless to me, although that might what you're looking for. Could use an extra fret and i never use the middle pickup.I hope I have been helpful to you with my experience with this guitar and happy playing.

A great guitar

By Jarrod-BAgyV

from Georgia

This is a great guitar. It has great "versitilatity." I can get a great sound of it. If you like that bright happy sound i recommend this guitar. Although I still play heavier music on this, I do not recommend this for music such as atreyu or as i lay dying (unless you have the right amp and distortion pedal). I would definitely recommend this guitar to those of you considering.

Very Good Guitar

This is a great guitar. Comes with high-quality strings and pickups. Wood is cheaper than the USA made but hey, that doesn't make it sound worse at all - and at half the price! The finish is excellent. Excellent tone and ease of use. Man, you can't go better than this thing! Buy it if you can't afford a USA made! The humbucker at the bridge makes for clean crisp sound! Get this along with a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah-Wah pedal and a nice Fender amp to begin with.

FAT is where it's at!

I've had this guitar for about a year and a half now and it is simply the best guitar I've ever had. It's versatile, and easy to play. It is also a beautiful instrument (I have the Midnight Wine Finish w/maple fretboard)kind of like a modern sculpture. I've used for gigging, and recording and it is still the best. I use the tremolo quite a bit with my lead work and the guitar never goes out of tune as long as you use the Fender bullets. The humbucker allows you to play it like a Les Paul or SG, then switch down one position and you got a classic single pickup strat tone. Most of the time, however, I just leave the selector on the humbucker. I can assure you all that there is NO need to replace any of the pickups they are all first rate. From time to time I will play one of my other guitars, and it helps me because when I come back to the fat strat, it plays like butter in my hands. It has never disappointed me in anyway.

By Falloutboypunk21--8k8N

I have just purchased a brand new Fender Fat Strat guitar. It is definitely worth paying the extra money. The sound sounds so much better than the standard strat, but the standard strat is still an amazing guitar. I still suggest if you want that nice sound without that little annoying fuzz in the backround, go for the fat strat you won't be disappointed.

This strat is my favorite strat. Everone says the standard is way better but I dont think so. So if your into punk and/or metal and dont have enough money for a gibson go buy a fat strat!

The sound of this guitar is incredible. The humbucker gives the extra nudge for the metal sounds and just right tone for the punk lines.

It works for me...

This is the first new guitar I?ve bought in almost 25 years, and my first Fender product. I must say I?m very pleased with my choice. Yeah, I know there are much better axes out there, but for the price, this one?s tough to beat. For a 50-year old geezer like myself, this is a totally decent instrument to thrash around with at home. My ?Rock Star? days (yeah, right...!) are pretty much over so I play strictly for my own enjoyment and sanity. Yes, the pick-ups are just so-so and it?ll go out of tune if you get too crazy with the whammy bar . . . so what else is new? The overall quality is just fine, the finish (Brown Sunburst/Maple fretboard) is really nice, the neck plays great, and set-up/intonation was almost dead-on, right out of the box. If you?re a working, gigging, recording musician, spend 3 or 4 times the bucks and get the American version or something else from the Fender catalog. If you want something relatively inexpensive that will do the job almost as well, I?d definitely recommend the Mex Fat-Strat.

Awesome guitar

By Rozz

from Sunnyvale, CA

This guitar was definitely worth the every cent that it cost. Previously I have been an Ibanez/Jackson guy, I own 2 Ibanez guitars, I was looking for a good guitar to play blues on, but one that would also give me the versatility of some good shred. This guitar is great for blues, however if you want something more metal, id have to say that you will need to replace the humbucker. My friend got one, and he put in a George Lynch trembucker, and it sounds incredible.

This is an awesome guitar. I've had it for 4 months and can't put it down. I play blues and rock and I love using the humbucker, its gives everything more punch and the neck is a breeze to play. Buy this guitar!

You won't regret buying this

By Ross-r4sWQ

from Colorado

This guitar is great. I've had it for 9 months now and it has never let me down. I almost bought the standard strat, but decided to go with the fat strat, and I don't regret spending the extra money. I've used it for two live shows, and it worked awesome. It is an excellent value. You can't find another guitar this quality for the same price. The humbucker is a great addition. This guitar is totally worth it. I don't think I will be buying another guitar for quite some time...
