OVERVIEW

An unusual take on the classic Fender model.

For modern guitarists who want heavy and aggressive tone, the Standard Jazzmaster HH is an unusual take on the classic Fender model, delivering massive high-gain power and a whole new sonic personality from two Blacktop open-coil humbucking pickups with chrome/black bobbins and black bezels.

Sleek and supercharged, it's built to match the intensity of any playing style, with other distinctive features including a coil-splitting push-pull switch built into the tone knob that leaves the outside coils active, a Jazzmaster floating tremolo bridge, and a lean control layout.

Comments about Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

With modern refinements like quality tuners, big frets, flat fingerboard radius, 1 pickup selector, 1 each of tone and volume, a splitter switch to give you a single coil mode, and grooved saddles..all the problems you would have performing with a jazzmaster are addressed and remedied...I play surf with this guitar and it sounds great...it can rock, play jazz, blues, shoegaze..whatever, just as well...tremolo is smooth and stays in tune for surf...very pleased with this guitar....only thing I wish they kept was the tremolo lock

Comments about Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

I bought this as a level 3 for a great price. To my surprise its in perfect shape. The only reason I can figure for it being returned before was the setup was horrific..truss rod, saddles, bridge and intonation were all insanely far off (like someone messed with it without the right knowledge) that gave me some concern but after a thorough inspection (mainly checking neck integrity) it turned out there was nothing wrong that a careful setup couldnt cure (not a big deal.. I always end up making adjustments on my guitars anyways)

now it plays great. I was able to get the action lower than i even like before thete were any buzzing issues. The bridge has been problem free for me (and i play hard.) tuning is rock solid. I upgraded to locking tuners (cause i had some, not bc of any issues)

As for sound.. It sounds great! Definitely has those "behind the bridge overtones." its A very versatile guitar with the humbuckers and split switch. Its got a real full heavy sound but can also get a little strat-y. I have an american standard strat and without exaggerating i can say its not really much nicer than this.

If you're considering this i would say go for it.. It sounds and plays great (and if u don't like it mf is awesome about returns/exchanges)

Comments about Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

OK, I have to amend my earlier review: I couldn't escape the curse of the Jazzmaster bridge, either! I didn't want to believe all the criticism, but i'm afraid the bridge really is that bad. The saddles just loosen and become displaced as you play. I've never seen anything like this in all my (more than 20) years of playing. It's just a horrible design and simply inexcusable! This Jazzmaster HH is not a vintage reissue, with period correct hardware; it's supposed to be a "modern take" on a classic. I read that the original JM's were built for the heavy strings available at the time - 12's, 13's. Well, this guitar came with a set of 9's (or at most 10's) on it, very common among modern players - particular those to whom this guitar is apparently marketed. I shouldn't have to buy a new bridge on a new guitar. There should be a better bridge to accommodate this - like a tune-o-matic, or whatever is on the J. Mascis Jazzmaster - which, by the way, is a great guitar. Yes, the Squier is better than the Fender. OK, rant completed....having said that, I still think it's a good guitar. I've only deducted one star from my original review. I got mine at a Level 3 discount, so I still think it was a good deal. Blemishes were minor, although I have been wondering about the straightness of the neck; I think I'll have a pro look it over, and do something about the bridge. As much as I love the sounds, I would only recommend this at a discounted price.

Comments about Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This is a cool guitar. Obviously, it's not meant to be a traditional Jazzmaster, so purists beware! Although it's humbucker equipped, it still retains the Fender sparkle and chime when played clean - and it's fantastic when overdriven! The coil-splitting adds even more versatility. I'm not that familiar with Jazzmasters, but I was intrigued with the possibilities of this particular one, I can cover some Strat and Tele territory with this thing, and get thicker tones than either if I choose. At first, the pots and switch were a bit static-y, but after playing with them for a while, that problem vanished. The overall quality doesn't compare with my MIA Fenders, but I can't complain considering the low price I paid. Having said that, I think the appearance is rather bland, even for the (regular) price. Also, the volume and tone knobs seem to be mounted in the wrong place, i.e. misaligned: their numbers go from 1 to 10, but when maxed out, the level appears to be on 5. I don't know if they're all like this; anyway, I'm too lazy to change mine, ha! the location of the knobs and switches makes it difficult to make adjustments on the fly in a live situation. These are just some things to be aware of; I think all Jazzmasters have the pickup selector and volume and tone in the same place. I haven't experienced any of the notorious bridge problems, neck and fretwork are smooth, and there was zero fret buzz! However, the set-up wasn't perfect: intonation was off a little, and action a bit high for my taste - should be an easy fix. This Jazzmaster can do surf, indie/noise rock, etc. like any other Jazzmaster - differently, perhaps - but after trying out other styles on this thing (classic rock, blues, soul, jazz, funk, psychedelia, country), I realize there's nothing it can't do in my little musical universe.

Comments about Fender Standard Jazzmaster HH Rosewood Fingerboard Electric Guitar:

This thing is just fantastic all around. Feels great, plays great, sounds great, the ghost silver finish is so gorgeous, but all this is shadowed by one major flaw... the bridge is inexcusable! All the Internet talk about jazzmaster bridges being junk are true and understated. I've played it 5 times now, combined effort of about 4-5 hours. The set screws are falling out, the string guides are uneven, and there's no good way to fix it. My strings currently look like clothes lines in Haiti after that earthquake years ago. I've ordered a jaguar Bridge to replace this with, then expect to have no further complaints. Fender, are you reading this? Please stop what you're doing right now and fix this problem!
