Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I just bought one of these, Artic White with a Rosewood Fretboard. I like it, but I am befuddle by the sharp edges on the frets. Why can't this guitar be as finely finished as my Sqire classic Vibe guitars? I didn't expect sharp frets. I am going to have to work on that before I call it great. It's playable, it sounds good, I love everything else about it.I am glad I bought it, but I am a little dissapointed that it would leave the factory with these sharp frets. If I can feel them, the QC guy that inspected it should have. Maybe they should start making them in China, where they make the CV's, beccause the workmanship on all three of my Squires is flawless..If I didn't have to work on the sharp frets I would give it all the stars. I like the neck, and I love the satin finish on the back of teh neck. I have to give my honest opinion, Fender needs to hire a new inspector, I shouldn't have to do fretwork, and since I am not equipped to do it, and live nowhere near a guitar tech, I may have to leave them like they are, which I will notice every time I play it the guitar. I have seen worse frets, but I have three CV's that were smooth as glass.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

WARNING: DO NOT GET THIS GUITAR IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A HIGH GAIN SOUND. Don't get me wrong. This is a very high quality guitar. It has a great tone, and it is so fun to play. But if you are looking for a grungy, loud, whiny tone, this is not for you. This is good for blues, jazz and, lighter rock. So, its a great buy if its capabilities suit you. Don't try to push it out of its comfort zone.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I have a few Mexican Strats... 1999, 2003, 2007, and finally a 2012. They are all quality instruments, but the necks on the newer ones are absolutely to die for... you could strap a crummy Squier body on one of these necks and be happy as a clam. I also own one American made Strat, and anyone who claims there is a huge quality difference is just being a snob or maybe being an elitist... I'll play Mexican and Japanese Strats for the rest of my life and have no regrets. Also at this price point, you don't have to worry when you take it out to gig (no museum glass cases at my house, all my guitars are for playing, and I have small children). Fender's Mexico plant has really come into their own in the past few years. No QC or cosmetic problems to speak of on any of mine.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Usually, you get reviews of a just bought instrument while the honeymoons phase is on, and sometimes those aren't too accurate due to buyers remorse, or over happiness in the instrument without long term usage.

MY MiM standard is now 6 yrs old and is just as playable, maybe more than when it was new. The neck is the DEAL on these guitars. I have multiple strats and this one is the only "import" yet plays better than it's American cousins by a long shot.

Mine has the rose neck and it is a thing of beauty play wise. The ceramic pickups aren't everyones taste, but they suit me just fine.

It's arctic white, now going yellow which I was surprised at, but I live in Hawaii and play outdoors alot.

I've checked out this guitar from stem to stern and have found no glaring construction faults or QC items, if it had them, they caught and corrected them.

I would recommend this to beginners, and pro's alike for a guitar that is not going to break the banks, plays and more importantly sounds as stratty as any other and at the present pre 2007 pricing, you cannot go wrong with this guitar.

Fit finish and craftmanship is no worse than my American made guitars, I do know that components are slightly less quality to meet price point, however, after countless hours of play, everything is solid, and tight. Simply a great guitar at a great price if you want a strat and aren't put off by it's origin.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I received a new standard Strat from FM and I must say it is a beauty. A gorgeous sunburst with a rosewood fingerboard. The action was set very well and intonation was spot on. The sound is killer and the sustain is fantastic. Now the not so good. The frets were sharp as all get out. I got a slight cut to my left hand when I first played it. I'm talking sharp here not just a little rough. I did a quick fret job on it and it played 100% better. I have never had a Fender with this poor a fret job so maybe I got a one off but if you get one make sure you have it attended to.

Comments about Fender Standard Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I scored myself the classic sunburst, maple fingerboard Standard strat. I've never owned an American or Custom Shop Strat so I'm not going to try to compare the different strat models. But at this price point, you get a great value for your money. Satin finish on the neck, beautiful gloss maple fingerboard for that classic glassy Fender sound. I've given mine a through inspection and haven't found any cosmetic issues. I must have gotten pretty lucky with this purchase, the neck on mine has an almost quilted maple look to it and it has some really unique markings on the fingerboard. Absolutely stunning. Soncially, this is THE classic vintage Fender sound. Works for blues, jazz, rock, funk and everything in-between. One thing to note is the tremolo is a vintage style, so if you're really into dive-bombing or Hendrix-style whammy bar action, you might want to go with the American standard with it's more modern-styled tremolo. But it works nicely for more traditional tremolo usage.

One more thing: This isn't a metal guitar. Guys complaining that they can't get a Metallica tone out of it are kinda missing the point. A fender strat isn't going to make your sound for you; it's going to be a quality vessel for your personal tone. A strat is more like a blank canvas for you to put your sound into.

I've owned this guitar for 5 years. I played a Gibson LP Custom for 5 years and if I had to choose one, I'd choose this strat. The setup was good from the factory(Mexico) and there's not a blimish on it. The pickups are hot but it has a very sweet tone, clean and distorted. It rocks with distortion! Best bang for the buck for ANY guitar.
