This was the first guitar I bought myself. I bought the 2009 version when I was 17. It was definitely a step up from my Epi LP Junior. It's got great versatile tones; you can play crunchy palm muted riffs and switch over to beefy blues tones or fuzzy stoner rock riffs. It's durable, it's versatile, it stays in tune, it sounds great, it's a great value, and it's a sharp-looking guitar. Definitely something you'd want to take some time to consider.
Everything on it is straight forward and simple: Tone and volume knobs, pickup selector. If you like simplicity, this is what you want. Jumbo frets are also make playing more comfortable if you are a big handed individual such as myself. The neck pickup adds a lot of extra beef to the tone if that's your kind of thing. I never was a fan of through-the-body stringing until I got this guitar; once I restrung it a few times it really changed my mind on it, it makes things much easier.
I've never had any bad experiences with the quality of a Fender. Very-well made, durable, and clean cut guitars.
Excellent pricing, considering the American Tele is a few hundred dollars more.

First, let me start by saying I am a Fender man and was so excited to get this guitar. The guitar looked beautiful but, instead of a 3 position selector switch, there was a 5 position selector switch. I wouldn't be concerned except there were only 3 pickup settings. the number 2 and number 4 positions were the same sound as the number 3 position? I would have had some problems switching on the fly to get the sounds I wanted. Secondly, the "G" string would pop out of the nut when I played hard or tried to bend the string at all. So disappointed with the guitrar, I returned it for a refund. I will go to a Fender showroom and hand pick my new Telecaster this time.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Got this guitar back in November and waited for the honeymoon to end to give a fair review. I've always loved Telecasters and this is my first and it lives up to the name. It plays great and has solid construction. My only issues with this guitar were as follows: 1. That it kept going out of tune which I solved with schaller locking tuners 2. It kept breaking strings, which I solved by lubricating the bridge saddles with Chapstick. I might eventually invest in a higher quality bridge. 3. The pickups sound dull and lifeless, especially the bridge pickup. They tried to make them hotter to appeal to modern guitarists but for me personally, the pickups lack the twang and character I was hoping for. The neck pickup is pretty good but the bridge pickup is horrible in my opinion. Despite these factors, this guitar is still my main guitar out of 3 and it has turned me into a tele player. Don't take the Cons as being a reason not to buy this guitar, just expect to upgrade it to get it to be professional grade. Overall I love my tele

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:
My telecaster is probably 3 years old now and it's truly the working man's choice guitar. The build is solid and the tone is versatile enough to play just about anything. Giving it 5 stars justifies it enough though if there was a draw back, then it'd be that the pickups tend to buzz a lot when you aren't playing... but that's why there's such thing as a volume knob or pedal.. you don't need to be turned all the way up when you aren't playing. But that can be a major drawback to many guitarists. Don't be scared by it being made in mexico. It's a very solid guitar. Plus it's a cheaper option if you like modding guitars. If this were stolen or broken, I might change to a different guitar, but that's just because I'm ready to try something new. Otherwise, this is the perfect guitar for any situation... besides heavy metal... which you wouldn't be looking at this guitar anyway if you played that.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Love this guitar! I have the black one, and it is just beautiful.
It DID require proper set up of both neck adjustment (eighth of a turn took care of it), and bridge saddles (proper intonation)...but every guitar I have ever bought via mail has needed this...they are in the business of selling instruments, not tuning them.
Playing it through my Fender Ultimate Chorus amp it has a tone that is unbeatable at any setting on clean or distortion. However; through my Vox VT30, I can't seem to find a sound I like (strange I know)...so it MAY depend on the amp and/or effects you use.
I say "strange" because I can get a decent sound through the Vox with my Squire Standard Tele (Blonde w/Rosewood fretboard) with Bigsby bridge add-on I installed myself. But the Fender Tele has much hotter pick-ups.
Though I also have two Strats....nothing beats the feel and playability of a Tele---NOTHING.
Could never substantiate (in my personal life) the price of an American guitar, when you can get just as nice of quality and sound with a cheaper model through the right amp. And this Mexican Tele proves it.
Get one in any color, they are all gorgeous.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:
in the ball park with american standards but will not have the resale values. with new pickups and a good set up it think it plays like a $1500.00 guitar and in the fender line up that is saying alot considering american deluxe is that much. If you are new at guitar you can grow old with one of these and never be too advanced to appreciate the tone and playability. I got this for my son who is to young now to even hold a guitar. When he has 25+ years under his belt like me he won't be too good for this tele. It is a great guitar that does not hold you back no matter how good you are.

Comments about Fender Standard Telecaster Electric Guitar:
Is a very nice guitar.
Mine came with the pickup selector switch reversed.
I had to take it out and flip it.
Is OK now.
I tapped on the pickps with a small screwdriver.
The back pickup was way to bassy. That what tipped me off to the problem.
