I have owned this guitar for 2 years now and i am still speechless. What a great value! This is one of the nicest, cheapest, and steadfast Fenders i have ever owned. I bought this guitar basically to take apart; repaint and modify but after painting the pickguard i fell in love with the sound to much to hamper with. Several higher end Teles' have passed my way but this baby still holds a tight grip on my heart.
I have had this guitar fjor about a year and I have never reget getting it. It has that blues almost country tone yet can really hold its ground with distortion. I love this guitar!
I have owned a lefty 2006 Fender Telecaster midnight wine finish for about 5 months now and I still love this guitar as much as I did the day I bought it. It plays so nicely, I definitely prefer it over a stratocaster. The only guitar I'd prefer over it is an American Telecaster because the necks on the Americans have a glossy finish that look and play nicer. The tone on the Mexican ones is just about as good as an American guitar though. The rythm pickup and bridge pickup both sound excellent clean or distorted. It's hard to put in words what I love so much about telecasters because basically, it's everything. When I first picked one up, I knew it was the right guitar for me. If you're considering getting one, I'd suggest going into a guitar store first and just getting the feel of one to see if it suits you. If you're like me, when you pick it up, you'll never want to play anything else.
I bought this guitar in July of 2006... about one and a half years ago. It was my first guitar, and man has it stuck to me. This guitar does anything you want it to do: twang, do chords, everything is easy to use. No complicated tech, just ONE volume switch and ONE tone switch. It buzzes, but of course it is only a $400 guitar. It's one heck of a deal for the price and a good way to start.
I am really surprised by this guitar! This guitar sounds much better than I thought it would.
Fender does it again!!! This is a simple guitar to play when you're concentrating on playing and not doing a whole lot "pick-up switch" changing!!! One tone knob and one volume knob. One "pick-up" switch (three positions). Too easy. Great sound. I purchased the Vintage Sunburst with Maple neck. Thought of as just a "Country" music guitar. Not so. Many "Blues" greats have played this guitar and chose it to be their main axe. Sounds great with a "slide." Sometimes I can't decide if I want to play the Stratocaster or the Telecaster. The Telecaster is AWESOME!!! Thanks again Fender!!!
This is the best guitar that I've ever played. And I've played a gibson les paul and all those good things. But this guitar is the best. It has a great clean tone and it sounds great distorted. I highly recomend this to everyone!
This guitar is really good. Not often do you get such a good name-brand guitar for as little money. The body looks simple, it was just something I liked, but opinions vary. It has a look that is very versatile as though it can play classic rock, rockabilly, jazz, and blues. As far as sound quality goes; I have yet to play a better sounding guitar. It is perfect for recording and it's heavy just incase you need to hit someone in the back with it. This is a great guitar for any left handed guitarist.
