I was in the market for a 24 fret guitar with a Floyd Rose tremolo and a dual humbucker with two single coil pickup configuration. What I bought was the Highway 1 Showmaster in flat black. This guitar is totally awesome! I like where the controls are compared to a Stratocaster because I`m always accidentally moving the volume control on a Strat. I also like the fact that the jack plugs into the end of the guitar instead of the front around the controls. And the 24 frets give a full two octave range. The Floyd Rose tremolo rounds out this axe perfectly. If you`re looking for a hot rod guitar, this is it. And with this price tag, the Fender Showmaster simply cannot be beat as far as I'm concerned! My only wish is that it was available in more colors. Thumbs up to Fender for an american built scream machine right out of the box.
I was little nervous to pay this much for this guitar, but it turns out to be the good investment. I love it. It sounds way better than many of its competitors. And, the fact that it looks different from a Stratocaster, I just love it. Go buy one.
I bought the showmaster back in december 2003 and since then i have never looked back. It plays really well and is a proper rock guitar. My only problem with it is that the paint chips quite easily and rubs away after a while. Other than that, this is a great guitar and i recommend you get one if you play heavy music.
