OVERVIEW

Better top wood and pickups and still the breakthrough technology for mastering the fretboard.

The Fretlight FG-561 PRO electric guitar is one smooth ride.

An ash body with birds-eye maple top, Stratabond neck and Fralin P-92 pickups compliment the FG-561's elegant and simple styling. A smart blender control allows infinite pickup combinations to get just the right tone. Whether you want a wide-open, gut shaking overdrive or some sweet, mellow, rich jazz tones, the FG-561 PRO is the tool for the job. Note: the FG-561 PRO has 22 frets. The light system only covers 21 frets.

The Fretlight FG-500 guitar sports some significant changes, all aimed toward making the Fretlight the world's easiest guitar to play.

The FG-500's electronics have been upgraded to an all-new Sonix Flash chipset, complete with on-board capability for future growth, and fully compatible with all existing Fretlight software. The new high efficiency electronics produce the brightest and most consistent LED lights ever. Whether you're lighting a simple riff, or a scale across the entire fretboard, the lights will maintain a consistent brightness.

Additionally, all FG-500 guitars have a Stratabond neck. Stratabond is a state-of-the-art engineered hardwood that yields uncommon strength and rigidity across ever changing environmental conditions. Perfect for a guitar necks that are susceptible to expansion and contraction due to varying humidity levels. The FG-500's Stratabond birch neck will provide very consistent performance for years to come.

The Fretlight lighted guitar learning system allows a player to light-up songs, over five thousand chords and scales patterns, and riffs right on the neck of the Fretlight guitar. The Fretlight connects to a PC or Mac and there are lessons, songs and interactive videos available which all light up the guitar.

Comments about Fretlight FG-561 Pro Electric Guitar with Built-in Lighted Learning System:

I am a 33 year old man who has been playing guitar on and off since the 9th grade. This guitar is a useful learning tool. It is of good quality craftsmanship, but not excellent quality. The highest note on the highest string has a bit of a buzz where the string abuts the picks and vibrates right up against it. The guitar itself is really very beautiful just sitting in your room on a stand. The birds eye maples is striking and interesting. When you look for flaws, you can find one or two though. The acrylic or whatever that clear coating they put on top of the body is.... that kind of barely seems to have leaked and dried a bit to far over one of the edges. The neck of the guitar does not fit PERFECTLY on the body either. (I own a Gibson les Paul and a PRS as well, so I am comparing the fret light to those and Gibson and PRS are pretty much perfect)
The electronics and chrome nobs are lovely to look at and have a solid feel. The fret light system it self works extremely well. No complaints there. If you dont have a fret light you should probably get one. I picked this one because I wanted an attractive guitar that was add to my homes decor while also being useful. The low end fret lights are just ugly.
Hmmmm. The fret light headstock sticker is probably the worst logo I have seen. I am going to scratch it off and replace it with something else because I do not plan on re selling this item and I dont care what kind of value it retains.
The neck feels very solid in your hands. Feels very much like that Eric Clapton edition stratocaster if you have every played that. Kind of a full feeling neck, I guess. Like it fills up your palm.
I would buy this again, but I also got 15% off of the 700 price. It is worth no more than 600 USD I dont think. But it is quite worth the 600.
For a beginner, THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD GET. It's build is not perfect, but as a student of guitar and music, you CAN NOT BEAT THIS.

Comments about Fretlight FG-561 Pro Electric Guitar with Built-in Lighted Learning System:

This guitar is remarkably well built: significantly better than the cheaper fretlight models. It's a good middle-of-the-pack guitar for it's pricepoint even *before* you consider the fretlight system. I'd call it a solid intermediate level guitar - but certainly not a professional quality instrument. You can find better playing & sounding guitars at this pricepoint, but you can find a lot more that aren't as nice.

The fretlight system is an incredible learning tool. The software user interface needs some work, but it's worth the trouble. Add the Fretlight Ready Guitar Pro software and you have a virtually endless supply of songs, drills and lessons available.

Comments about Fretlight FG-561 Pro Electric Guitar with Built-in Lighted Learning System:

I was hoping that by buying this guitar I'd be able to make up a lot of time learning more advanced subject matter. However, the software won't play on my computer (I have a miscrosoft XP) the intallation software down loaded but the system won't play the DVD's or Lennon & McCarty DVD. I contacted Fretlight IT 4 times and we couldn't get the Fretlight Video Player to unload from intialization software. Don't waste you time with product. Very disapointed, been watching this product for 2 years.
