From studio artists to gigging musicians, Gibson's Les Paul Studio is pure rock tone.

Since 1983, Gibson USA has been proving not only that less is sometimes more, but also that less can sometimes knock your socks off – when it comes in the form of the popular no-nonsense Les Paul Studio model, at least. Originally designed as a model for studio artists but adopted wholeheartedly by countless players of all stripes, the Les Paul Studio combines stripped-down appointments with the full tonal splendor and unrivaled playability of a Les Paul Standard.

All the elements of the legendary Les Paul Standard are still there, including that fat and sweet maple-and-mahogany tone through two genuine Gibson humbucking pickups. By eliminating a little of the window dressing – namely, building the guitar without binding around the body top or fingerboard, and applying an elegant gold silkscreened logo in place of an inlay – the Les Paul Studio weighs in at a price that players have found irresistible for three decades. It also physically weighs less. The mahogany body comes with “modern” weight relieving that is carefully applied inside the mahogany back to provide outstanding balance while optimizing the sonic capabilities of the guitar.

Crucial elements of the Les Paul Studio’s design include the carved maple top and mahogany body, glued-in mahogany neck with back-angled headstock, granadillo fingerboard, Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece – all design points that have been making Les Pauls the most desirable tone monsters available since the late 1950s. For electronics, a set of Gibson’s 498T and 490R Alnico humbucking pickups squeeze every drop of tone from the instrument, and now feature coil-taps for an even broader range of tonal possibilities.

With these classic ingredients, the Les Paul Studio gives you all the sonic versatility you could ask for, from sultry, warm bluesy tones to powerful crunch to sizzling lead tones. Finally, the Les Paul Studio is supremely playable too, thanks to its slim-taper 60's neck profile and a chambered mahogany body that reduces the weight while enhancing resonance, making it outstandingly comfortable strapped on or seated.

    Features

    • Mahogany body with “modern” weight relieving
    • Carved Maple Top
    • 24.75" Scale Mahogany neck with ‘60s Slim Taper profile
    • Granadillo fingerboard with trapezoid inlays
    • Tune-o-Matic bridge with stop-tail
    • Electronics: 490R/498T with push/pull coil taps
    • Individual volume and tone controls, 3-way pickup selector
    • Grover vintage-style tuning machines

Don't settle for less. Order your Les today.

Comments about Gibson 2012 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

My Les Paul Studio just arrived yesterday.Quick shipping to Canada and arrived in perfect condition. I ordered the Ebony Gold version and had concerns because the photo on the website was wrong but the correct guitar arrived. My other guitar is a Fender Stratocaster Select series and I find the Les Paul provides some desired different sounds.

sound and tone to the bone. So definately best sound accomplished by tone woods and chambering and the wiring of the pickups.
Miner complaints, tap to single one @ a time ok, but both @ the same time, very dull sounding.
coil tap up = yuk. coil tap down=awesome.
slightly sharp fret edges. finish. Its a beauty

Great guitar. Looks great even without a fancy top or binding. I have the vintage sunburst and could not be happier with it. Great price for a great guitar. No problems with the quality of this guitar. I would recommend this guitar to my buddies.

Comments about Gibson 2012 Les Paul Studio Electric Guitar:

There are two features that I find crucial to an ax. That is the pickups and the neck. The LP arrived and it was easy to adjust the settings right out of the box. I find the 490 and 498 pickups to be dynamic and favor them over the burstbuckers offered with the LP deluxe. I can only rate the Cordilla neck as fair. It came with slight flaws and small pores in spots. In addition the frets on this LP are rough and sharp. Regardless, the front and back finish were fine and by far these have the best LP tuners. Overall, I am happy with the purchase and would recommend this LP to any Blues, Metal or Rock player.
