A tribute to the roots of the Les Paul with the added bonus of always being in tune.

The 2013 Les Paul ’50s Tribute nails the look, feel, and tone of the set-neck, single-cutaway solidbody that started it all—the original Les Paul Model of the early to mid 1950s. Like the first Les Paul guitars, the Les Paul ’50s Tribute carries a pair of screaming P-90 pickups, the fat Gibson single-coil that has been beloved for more than six decades, along with the comfortably rounded neck profile characteristic of that decade. A step up to Gibson’s most acclaimed hardware set improves playability and offers precise tuning and intonation. And this Les Paul ’50s Tribute is comes upgraded with Min-ETune automated “robot” tuners (see below).

Just like the greatest Les Paul Standards ever made, the Les Paul ’50s Tribute starts with the classic tonewood combination of a mahogany body with solid carved maple top. When paired, these woods offer a tonal depth and complexity unmatched by any single-wood construction, with warmth and richness from the mahogany, and superb clarity and “snap” from the maple. The mahogany back is strategically weight relieved to both lighten your load and improve resonance.

A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson’s time-tested tradition, and carved to a comfortably rounded ‘50s profile that measures .818” at the 1st fret and .963” at the 12th. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 22 medium-jumbo frets and traditional trapezoid inlays. In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ’board remain unbound, and there’s no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian subtly complements the black top-hat knobs with silver inserts, while enhancing resonance and sustain. The traditional back-angled headstock is silkscreened with a gold Gibson logo and Les Paul Model.

The Les Paul ’50s Tribute takes its firepower from a pair of P-90 pickups, some of the most revered tone machines in Gibson history. The P-90s currently made by Gibson USA adhere strictly to the vintage formula, which includes genuine Alnico V bar magnets and coils wound with 42-AWG enamel-coated wire for all the growl, snarl, and articulation that has made the originals legendary. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations.

To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a Tune-o-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece, with a set of genuine Grover kidney button tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the Les Paul ’50s Tribute presents the perfect celebration of Les Paul’s genius and achievement, wrapping it into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of the first generation of Les Pauls to the hands of players of today.

Each guitar includes a black Gibson gig bag, owner’s manual and truss rod wrench.

Min-ETune automated “robot” tuners
Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning unit that sits on the back of the guitar — a mighty enhancement to an already great instrument. No need for screws, wiring or routing, in fact the system is hardly visible from the front of the guitar. You can still adjust the tuning pegs manually or turn on the Min-ETune to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own.

Always In Tune
A guitar with Min-ETune looks the same, feels the same, plays the same and rocks the same - it’s just always in tune. Adjust to other instruments' imperfect tuning with Reference Tuning and keep that harmony going. Perfect for home, studio and gigging: The internal lithium battery lasts for 80 to 100 tunings on just one charge. Rock longer with the fast and accurate Min-ETune, tuning your guitar in just 3 seconds and 1 strum.

In Perfect Harmony
Digital tuners that emulate open tunings are available BUT because the Min-ETune physically turns the tuners, the system is always organic and natural. There’s no delay, no dampening and no dead sound — just the natural vibration of guitar strings in total harmony with the vibrations coming out of the amp producing ringing harmonics and powerful sustain.

Rock Out
With the new Min-ETune equipped guitars all you have to do is PUSH the button, STRUM, get TUNED and ROCK out. Min-ETune is a huge boost to the live performer, the touring professional, the experienced enthusiast, the beginner and novice player alike.

Save time and money in the studio because the tuning system is so fast and accurate. And Min-ETune is a priceless tool for writing creatively with its instant access to the sounds your muse demands. Perfect for the professional – Min-ETune will have you rocking around the clock.

Travel light to your next gig or across the globe, just one guitar does the work of multiple guitars in different tunings – perfect for the enthusiast. Keep on rocking and experiment with a wide range of alternate tunings or program your own and save it forever with Min-ETune.

Spend less time learning to tune and more time learning to play the guitar. Perfect for the beginner – Min-ETune puts a variety of tunings at your fingertips. You are ready to rock? With Min-ETune you can even experiment with open tunings, something that usually takes years of practice.

Comments about Gibson 2013 Les Paul '50s Tribute Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

I now have 7 Gibson guitars ranging from late 70's to the current 2013 models. My new Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute is an excellent example of Gibson quality. My guitar is a 2013 model and it's superb. The manufacturing process has gotten better since the first batch came out. The balance of the guitar is also very good, not too heavy and not too light. The frets are laid in with high precision and there's no fret buzz. I can hardly believe how beautiful the gold finish turned out. It's a little different tint from the gold of a Les Paul std but the paint job is smooth and even. No lumps or speckles. MY guitar has a light, almost invisible nitrocellulose finish that lets the instrument breath. I really can't say enough about the sound of P-90 pickups. The P-90 pickups are powerful and clear. I used to have a 1974 Gibson SG with P-90's and I had forgotten how wonderful they sound. The hardware is the standard Gibson issue. Grover tuners top off a affordable, well balanced and great sounding guitar. I no longer take my vintage Les Pauls to gigs because too many bad things can happen. But, I don't have to sacrifice my sound because this instrument delivers the tone and punch that I need to make it through a night at the show. Rock on you guitar demons !!!
