OVERVIEW

A tribute to the innovation at the heart of the SG with automated tuners.

The 2013 SG Future Tribute captures the look, feel, and tone of the guitar world' most legendary double-cutaway solidbody, and equips it for the player of the future, while making it available today. Primed for optimum playability and versatility, the SG Future Tribute carries a pair of œzebra-coil ™57 Classic humbucking pickups for a blend of vintage warmth and contemporary articulation, along with a superbly comfortable custom asymmetrical neck profile. Gibson' acclaimed bridge and tailpiece team up with futuristic Steinberger gearless tuners to ensure smooth playability and precise tuning and intonation.

This SG Future Tribute comes upgraded with Min-ETune automated œrobot tuners. The SG Future Tribute looks great in a choice of colors, all Vintage Gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.

The SG Future Tribute takes the classic platform of the original SG Standards forward into the 21st century. Built in the image of the legendary SG Standards, the SG Future Tribute starts with a foundation of solid mahogany, a tonewood with a long tradition at Gibson. A solid mahogany body is crafted in the distinctive, thin asymmetrical dual-cutaway style, with iconic pointed œhorns and beveled edges to enhance playing comfort. A solid mahogany neck is glued into the body in Gibson' time-tested tradition and carved to an ergonomic and superbly comfortable new asymmetrical profile that fits the natural shape of the human hand, with depths of .800 at the 1st fret and .875 at the 12th, making this one of the most playable SGs yet created. It is topped with a genuine rosewood fingerboard that carries 24 medium-jumbo frets to maximize the playing reach of the SG style, along with traditional trapezoid inlays.

In keeping with the stripped-down ethos of this powerful performer, both body and ™board remain unbound, and there' no pickguard to obscure the finish. A PLEK-cut nut made from black Corian subtly complements the knurled chrome knobs and black pickup rings. The headstock is silkscreened with gold Gibson and holly logos.

The SG Future Tribute ensures its sonic versatility and hot looks with a pair of zebra-coil humbucking pickups, consisting of a standard-wound ™57 Classic humbucker in the neck position and a slightly over-wound ™57 Classic Plus in the bridge position for hotter lead tones. The ™57 Classics recreate Gibson' esteemed PAF humbuckers by using genuine Alnico 2 magnets and 42-AWG enamel-coated wire. They are also enhanced with evenly matched coils for a smooth, singing tone, and wax potting to combat microphonic squeal at high volume levels. The result is a pickup that is thick, rich, and warm, yet clear and articulate”perfect for the broad demands of today' music. The traditional wiring complement of an independent volume and tone control per pickup plus a three-way toggle selector switch allows a broad range of sonic variations.

To anchor it all down, Gibson USA loads in a classic tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, then rams it all into the future with a set of super-efficient Steinberger gearless tuners, a hardware set that partners up for solid sustain and precision tuning. Put it all together, and the SG Future Tribute presents the perfect celebration of the SG for the 21st century, wrapping it all into a great guitar that brings the look, feel, and sound of a contemporary SG to the hands of the demanding players of today, and tomorrow.

Each guitar includes a black Gibson gig bag, owner' manual and truss rod wrench.

Min-ETune automated œrobot tuners
Min-ETune is a small compact battery powered tuning unit that sits on the back of the guitar ” a mighty enhancement to an already great instrument. No need for screws, wiring or routing, in fact the system is hardly visible from the front of the guitar. You can still adjust the tuning pegs manually or turn on the Min-ETune to choose from 12 popular tunings or program 6 of your own.

Always In Tune
A guitar with Min-ETune looks the same, feels the same, plays the same and rocks the same - it' just always in tune. Adjust to other instruments' imperfect tuning with Reference Tuning and keep that harmony going. Perfect for home, studio and gigging: The internal lithium battery lasts for 80 to 100 tunings on just one charge. Rock longer with the fast and accurate Min-ETune, tuning your guitar in just three seconds and one strum.

In Perfect Harmony
Digital tuners that emulate open tunings are available BUT because the Min-ETune physically turns the tuners, the system is always organic and natural. There' no delay, no dampening and no dead sound ” just the natural vibration of guitar strings in total harmony with the vibrations coming out of the amp producing ringing harmonics and powerful sustain.

Rock Out
With the new Min-ETune equipped guitars all you have to do is PUSH the button, STRUM, get TUNED and ROCK out. Min-ETune is a huge boost to the live performer, the touring professional, the experienced enthusiast, the beginner and novice player alike.

Save time and money in the studio because the tuning system is so fast and accurate. And Min-ETuneTM is a priceless tool for writing creatively with its instant access to the sounds your muse demands. Perfect for the professional “ Min-ETune will have you rocking around the clock.

Travel light to your next gig or across the globe, just one guitar does the work of multiple guitars in different tunings “ perfect for the enthusiast. Keep on rocking and experiment with a wide range of alternate tunings or program your own and save it forever with Min-ETune.

Spend less time learning to tune and more time learning to play the guitar. Perfect for the beginner “ Min-ETune puts a variety of tunings at your fingertips. You are ready to rock? With Min-ETune you can even experiment with open tunings, something that usually takes years of practice.

More than just efficient, affordable, versatile, and powerful, Min-ETune is truly a creative tool that you can™t do without.

I had a decent guitar the somehow fell off the stand and broke its neck in such a way that I don't have faith in it being repaired well enough to rely on it, so when this guitar came on on the Stupid Deal of the Day how could I pass up an actual Gibson? It arrived just fine. It was packed well and could probably endure just about anything. The fit and finish is great but the action seems a little high. However this a 2013 model that's sat in the warehouse for 3 yrs, so I was counting on a set up when I ordered it. The only problem was when I tried to charge the battery for the mini tune, it swelled and split open. I called Musician's Friend and they referee me to Gibson who sent out a new battery and charger to be sure the problem is fixed. I'll update this after it arrives. The only complaint I can think of so far, not counting the battery issue which could be a one in a million thing that always seems to happen to me and nobody else, is the gig bag that come with the guitar. It's a nice bag, but doesn't offer the protection a quality guitar should have, so I bought the brown leather covered Gator Case. It's a perfect fit!

I really expected better quality from a Gibson Guitar. I have a few and was very disappointed with this one. The black paint on the body is just OK... nothing more. Looks like a quick spray paint job. The frets on the edge of the fret board stick out a bit and make for a painful slide up and down the fret board. The hardware and sound appear good but the overall look and feel feel cheap.

The worst part about this guitar is the Min-etune system. The high E and B strings never tune correctly regardless of what key you are tuning in. I just use the standard E and half step down tuning and it's never correct in spite of making dozens of calls and reading the manual and making calibrations/modifications to correct it. The min-etune manufacturer is in Germany and cannot be contacted and folks at Gibson and local music stores have extremely limited knowledge at best so virtually you are on your own.
Disappointed that I have decided to return the guitar. I was generous rating this guitar 3 stars.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Tribute Future Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar on a whim on Stupid Deal special as I had earlier been intrigued with this model. Initially was disappointed somewhat as setup was not good and guitar looked to be a blem or possibly even used. After a lutherist type friend set it up - I absolutely love this guitar. It is my favorite out of 10 I own. Usually a Fender man, I have a couple of Heritage - Gibson clones which are nice but this is my first Gibson. This is a really nice instrument. The Min-e-tune is for real. My guitar maker buddy was very impressed with the auto tuning. Anyway with a decent setup this is a fun guitar to play and a tribute to the Gibson USA catalog. It makes me want to liquidate several of my guitars and get another Gibson. I plan to change out the somewhat goofy "Future" truss rod cover for one that says "Standard." Would not mind buying another of these in the cherry red if they are still available.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Tribute Future Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

I love the way this guitar plays. At first I wasn't sure I would like the neck finish, but it hasn't affected my playing. The neck is comfortable and very fast. PLEK machined nut is spot on. Fret dress is perfect with frets well polished.

I have not yet decided whether the Min Etune system is for me. I will reserve judgement for a few weeks. I am concerned that a replacement battery costs almost forty smackeroos and doesn't seem to be available from multiple sources. I wonder if they will still be available 30 years from now. I can always revert to standard tuners if needed.

I'm very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Tribute Future Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

This little SG is as good as any. No it doesn't have a bound neck or body but it's as good as any. If you want all those features go out & pay another $1100 or more for one. This one works just fine. Love the etune system and the zebra pickups. They sound as good as my $2300.00 PRS. Great buy guys, thanks.

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Tribute Future Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

Mainly a Les Paul player, I have been wanting a quitar with the Tronical tuning system for Gigging, Makes thoses tuning changes in seconds (no more long banter between songs to tune up).
This Guitar has all the features that I like.57's PUP, Slim neck, Block inlays and of course the Tronical tuning system... and what i saved in price can upgrade from the gig bag it comes with to a hardshell case..
Thank you to MF for having this SG Future w/mini Etune as the Sutpid Deal on the day a few weeks ago half the price all the pleasure. also big thank you to Justin Kearl for sending me the e-file of the owners manual on the Tronical Mini ETuner everyting I found on line was for the new Gforce tuner and the Gibson page for the Mini was no longer up..

What much else can ya say, it's an SG an awesome one at that as far as the min etune system it works just like it should no problems these are very nice guitars and well worth the money. The 57 classics sound so good and smooth but not to hot just right . If youre considering this one I say go for it. IT'S A WIN!

Comments about Gibson 2013 SG Tribute Future Min-ETune Electric Guitar:

Gibson has given guitar players an extremely attractive alternative for those who can't afford a top of the line instrument but still want that feel and tone a genuine Gibson delivers. Across the entire line of their Tribute series the value is some of the best bang for the buck anywhere in the price range. Yeah, they've stripped down the finish to a lower luster and allow some of the wood grain to show through but I like it, a lot! Think of the Tribute SG's as a typical SG Special but upgraded with block inlays, Min E Tune (available without), and no pickguard. I have the Min E Tune version which I happen to be a fan of. If the robo tuners ever fail I can remove the entire unit and revert to standard tuners.

Sound is a great blend of sweetness, warmth, and highs and all the growl and bite you'd expect with the 57 classic neck and 57 classic plus in the bridge. It can do any style you want to play. The asymmetrical neck is surprisingly comfortable to play on and I love that it has 24 frets. Great value if you are looking for a Gibson. Plus, it's an SG man!
