Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I just picked up this guitar today in Manhattan midnight and first, The finish is amazing. Also, the electronics are wonderful. The pickups sound great, especially the bridge. When the pickups are split they sound like a strat, except you can't reallly get the sounds of positions 2 and 4. The sustain is wonderful, and it's a bit heavy, but all in all, it's hard to find a gibson Les Paul this good for under 1000

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I just received the Desert Burst. The first thing I noticed was overspray on the back of the guitar. It covered about 1/3 of the body. Then I noticed that the neck was bowed. I could have slid a nickel between the strings and the frets while doing the neck relief check. Next I noticed the action was high. I could tell a truss rod adjustment wasn't going to lower the action that much. I then noticed the bridge was all the way down on the treble side, so the strings on that side weren't going any lower anyway. I plugged it in and then noticed the pickup selector switch didn't feel right. It clicked into place on the neck pickup setting, but had no resistance going from the middle setting to the bridge pickup side.
There was orange peel paint all along the sides of the neck where the neck joined the body.
At this point I decided to return it.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I wrote a review a couple weeks ago but it seems to have disappeared, so let's try again.

I don't remember where I got word of this guitar, might have been an email from MF, but I'm glad that I did find out. After reading the ad, and seeing the price, I had to own one. Shipping was just a few days and it was here, I thank Gibson for including a case with it, and a nice case at that. When looking at the three choices of finish I decided on the Wine Red. I like a guitar that;s all the same color, and this is. And it's absolutely gorgeous! Looking it over closely I found no flaws, just exquisite craftsmanship. Another reviewer pointed out the accompanying photograph of the guitar on the tech bench, and I thought that was a really nice touch.

I pulled it out of the case, plugged it into my Fender Mustang II amp, tuned it up and began to play. It was well set up from the factory, and the first notes were gold. The neck is very comfortable, and easy to play. The pickups sound awesome, with full round sound and articulation. The coil splits are cool too, and are reminiscent of the Strat sound. Overall a very solid, well made guitar.

I own a 1984 Gibson Les Paul Studio Custom that I bought brand new in '84 and paid six hundred for. This guitar feels and plays very much like it, but the pickups are much better. I guess they've made some advances in pickup technology in the last 31 years!

Although it comes with a nice hard case, I really wanted the Gibson form fitted case. So I bought that too. When you spend a grand on a guitar, what's another couple hundred for a nice case?

If you're thinking about one of these, think fast cuz they're not going to be around long!

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I primarily play jazz. This guitar can suit that genre adequately. What really convinced me to purchase this guitar was its versatility, tone and ease of play. The 57 Classic pickups sound fabulous. The brass nut is very useful with string height adjustments. The intonation can be set spot on and the guitar plays in tune all the way up the neck. The only disappointment was some orange peel on the top where the neck joins the body.

Beautiful finish, cool blue. Set up great right out of the box! Comes in a case.
No G force tuning, that you don't need!

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

I was looking at this guitar before, but was reluctant to make the purchase due to the G-Force tuning system. Enter the Studio SR (no G-Force) and the rest is history. These limited quantities of fine instruments don't seem to be making a loud presence, and are made available to the lucky ones who decide to take advantage of a great deal, while they last. I love mine, I'll give it 5 stars all day long, and I would recommend this Les Paul to anyone.

Comments about Gibson 2015 Les Paul Studio SR:

Mainly just use this guitar at home. Great sound, really responsive volume knobs, and good to jam. Admittedly, it took me a minute to get used to the small frets but now they play great. Like every les paul I've owned, change the strings immediately, makes a huge difference. The 57's really do sound great and the desertburst finish looks awesome. Hated the 2015 appointments, don't mind the brass nut and this thing is true to form Les Paul how it should be with no gimmicks. The case is nice, not quite like the "real" cases but really nice in it's own right. Overall, great guitar for the money, but the '16 lineup looks good too, and cheaper so...

Get this guitar while you can. It play's right and feels right. Cant beat the price. I got mine here at MF with 15% off discount. Who can beat that price for a gibson studio. I ay this guitar with my randall halfstack and defy what a heavy sound the 57 pickups can do !!! I loves it.
