Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '50s Tribute HP Electric Guitar:

So I've waited years to spend money on a true Gibson Les Paul, they never seemed worth the money. I loved the tone and the style but 3k? Come on. I've had several high end Les Paul offerings and said good enough. Well then I got this beauty. I fought between this and the 600$ more expensive red studio. And I have to say made the right choice. Love the gold top. Subtle but classy. Has a two tone finish (dark back). Looks good but grown up. Initially I was going to keep in my studio. Yup already used for two gigs. As a rule I don't love guitars without binding on the neck. This one plays so nice I could care less. The pickups are responsive, and the guitar makes me excited to play again. Isn't that the goal? I love the robo tuners...ironically though guitar is so well in tune I rarely use them. One note to prior les Paul owners. The titanium nut and bridge do make this guitar sound brighter then some other 'Pauls I have played. Roll the tone back 10% and enjoy the extra sparkle when you need it.

Fantastic guitar, finally Gibson getting it right.

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '50s Tribute HP Electric Guitar:

After a few dismal years, Gibson finally got some key things right. The new G-Force tuners are reliable and easy to use-I had the prior version and hated them. The new version is much, much more usable and I really like them. Battery lasts a really long time.

The HP is confusing, but basically that means it has the G Force tuners, the titanium bridge and saddles and nut, and the whatever back thing they did with the heel. I like the titanium, it looks good, it is really easy to adjust, and just speaks to very high quality build. The heel is okay...I don't spend much time on the 20th fret to even matter that it is smoothed out, but, whatever. The other stuff is awesome.

As for quality control, Gibson USA must be falling apart. The guitar was setup good, yes...but there was paint spatter on the neck from pulling masking tape while it was still wet, and then not inspecting the cleanup. The bridge was adjusted-but not locked down. It buzzed. The knobs were installed all crooked, just jammed on there as fast as possible. You could tell when it came to final inspection and assembly, these guys don't care.

So, still get one, its a wonderful guitar, but just figure you'll take it to your luthier right away to get it adjusted and cleaned up from the the factory that just doesn't really care.
