Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

Here's the skinny, I am an experienced musician who's been playing guitar over 40 years. I am happy with the studio series of Gibson's that have come out in the last few years. I cant justify spending big $$ on guitars that play & sound great. This LP plays & sounds great! Obviously they cut corners for this price point. The slab body with a set neck. I have the Firebird studio 70's tribute with the mini humbuckers that is like that, a little bit rough cut & finished. BUT, It plays & sounds great! Now, this Les Paul looks great, not rough cut at all. A beautiful honeyburst finish and The p90's kick a--! I co-host a weekly jam & got plenty of compliments on the tone. The neck is a little chunky for my taste and the action was set up too high. I sent the 1st one back thinking I got a lemon from the factory. But the next one came in the same way. So I decided to make some adjustments on the neck & bridge & got it a lot more playable. My next move is to shave down the backside of the neck to make it more playable to my taste. It is a keeper! Very light weight & excellent tone. A great buy for an american made Gibson Les Paul!

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

I was curious about P-90 pickups - which I'd heard so much about, but never experienced firsthand. When I saw this Les Paul at a great price, I had to take the plunge! The guitar arrived perfectly set-up and ready to play. Apart from tuning up, I don't think I adjusted anything. This 60's Tribute Les Paul seems like a real player, solidly built with great, versatile sounds - sparkly, crunchy, beefy! The P-90s are single coils, so I experienced unwanted hum when recording a part with distortion. It doesn't really bother me live, but I may stick to clean tones when recording with this. Since this guitar is about a third of the price of a LP standard, you know Gibson had to cut corners somewhere. I can do without binding, inlaid headstock logo, etc., but for me, the finish is the only thing that seems cheap. I ordered the Honey Burst - which had a slightly, dull appearance and only covered the top. The sides and back were painted dark brown. Finish was smooth, but still seemed a bit cheap. These are minor cosmetic issues, and really of no concern when you consider the price. Overall, the craftsmanship is appears to be very good, and the playability is excellent. The neck is silky smooth and features a finger-friendly (at least to me) slim 60's profile. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar a couple weeks ago, and I really like it! It's my first Gibson guitar, and while I take it to a few places to jam, I normally use this one in my bedroom. It's beautiful, has those sweet P90 pickups, and a slim neck, which is perfect for my smaller hands. It has a beautiful sound, and I've gotten plenty of compliments on it already. The only thing is that mine doesn't like to stay in tune. I find that it goes out of tune quite a bit faster than any other guitar I've owned, but it's not that bad. Overall, this is an awesome guitar with a good price tag. I mainly play blues rock with it, and paired with a JCM 2000 DSL, it sounds great!

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

Ok here's the scoop. As usual Gibson has produced another quality Les Paul guitar, excellent finish, sounds awesome, plays fantastic. The only thing that irks me is that Gibson has replaced the old style wiring in the control cavity from vintage wiring and capacitors to a electronic circuit board where everything is connected via "quick connect" ends instead of old fashion solder. Has this affected the tone? No not really, my guitar sounds vintage and has great tones. It's just that this new cost cutting method of replacing everything under the hood with a circuit board just irks me. I'm a purist when it comes to guitars. For now I'll leave it alone, but plane on replacing everything with vintage components in the future

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

Let's start by mentioning the positives. Ok. Well, the pickups are the best part and they have various sounds from blues to classic rock. I played it through a VOX at Guitar Center and but I have a Hughes and Ketner Tubemeister 36. Sounds great through it. Everyone says that it is on the lighter side but I tend to disagree. It's light compared to a Custom Les Paul but about the same as a Studio. It has the feel of a studio Les Paul too. Nothing real expensive but hey, it's a Les Paul with P90s which is hard to find unless you want one of those Les Paul Juniors. Stay away from those. I've had one of those and sent it back right away. You will need a set up when you get it so don't expect low action out of the box. The price is very good for a Les Paul. Hard to complain on that end. I bought the Sunburst Satin and It has a nice feel. The only other negative would be the neck which every said was thin. Mine is on the thicker side. Hope this helps. Keep on rocking! HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Comments about Gibson 2016 Les Paul '60s Tribute T Electric Guitar:

I love this guitar! Fit and finish wise it was perfect out of the box. I really dig the old school look and feel fo the satin finish. The minute you pick it up it already feels worn in like your grampa played it for 60 years then gave it to you. The guitar sounds very loud when you play it unplugged. i think the thin lacquer allows them to breathe/resonate more. It has a slightly smaller neck than the other Les Pauls I've owned and it's quite a bit lighter (I think these have some internal chambering done on them).
The P 90's are great pickups in general and these are really nice sounding ones, it's like taking the sparkle of a single coil and the fatness of a humbucker and wrapping it all up in one pickup. I really like that you push them hard and they'll rock out, and then just a slight roll off the volume and they clean up great.
The gig bag is super nice and has a very thick padding and a very strong zipper. Be aware it fits really, really, really tight at first but after only a couple weeks mine has already started loosening up a small amount so as not to make it almost impossible to zip, but that guitar ain't going anywhere. I am very surprised that you can buy an American made Gibson guitar for this price. I bought this and the 60's tribute as well and I have my eye on an SG! Get one you'll love it!
