I love this guitar. I traded a PRS McCarty for it and I find that I play this one far more than I ever did the PRS. Maybe it's because this one was used and not in pristine condition. I have a tendance to want my gear to stay in new condition so if I have one that's already got a few marks on it, I don't worry about it and I actually play it! Lucille has tone like I've never had in a guitar. It's by far the most versitile instrument that I've ever had and I've owned all the classics: Gretsch, multiple PRS's, multiple Fender's, MusicMan and a bunch of Gibson's. This is the best of the bunch. It plays differntly and has a different base sound than my 335 and different than my Les Paul. I'm very, very impressed with it. Besides, it's drop-dead gorgeous.

Having played a Les Paul Deluxe for several years I amazed to find a guitar that surpassed it in quality and sound.

The only really great Gibson guitar

By Texas Rocker

I played the Lucille one time in Dallas, TX. I'm very picky about electric guitars because, I like to see which kind will accompany my singing well. I've tried a ton of Fenders to see if they accompany my voice real well and they al did. This was the only Gibson guitar I tried that accompanied my voice real well. I started out by singing The Thrill Is Gone and the expirement worked real well. I love that this guitar has the same tone as BB King's guitar does.

The Richest Sound...

By Zaf

from Greece

It can sound like a les paul, like any semi hollow, and with the switch you can have the best funky sound available. It is heavy, well constructed apart from the plastic finish of the frets that can cause some problems when bending. The weight makes it kind of difficult to play all night but the sound, clean or distorted, is of unsurpassed quality.

Gibson BB King Lucille ES-335

By Joe Franklin

I was disappointed . No Gibson "57 Humbucker pickups . Action is hard & high . Intonation not set correctly . It's pretty & workmanship is excellent . Playability & tone could sure be better .

This ax is the best choice for playing the Blues

By CHILLKg

from West Haven Ct.

I wanted one of these guitars ever since I was 12 years old. Now I am 40 something and finally have "Lucille" and the blues never been so sweet. I am from the old school and saw B.B.King pay his dues. One thing for sure, this guitar is the most incredible instrument I have ever played, and I am glad to be a proud owner. B.B.King, you are the Man and made the best choice.

All around great guitar. I would like the imputs on the front rather than the bottom side so the jack doesn't get in the way when playing sitting down.

Lucille for my 40th birthday

By Sammy-bqe2B

from Snellville GA

I own and play a few of the finest electric guitars. Les Paul,Fender Subsonic,Guild X-150 and now Lucille. She is by far the best. The tone and quality is unsurpassed. I'm not sure if I am worthy of such a fine instrument. I new she was special with the first note I played. Thank you B.B. and Gibson. p.s. Thanks also to my wife Karen

Ask me a question

I did not choose Lucille, she chose me. The more I play Her, the more I love Her. I use the Vari-tone switch and like the changes in tone and sound.

One Fine Axe!

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I have owned some nice guitars and this one stands out. The only reason I gave 9 stars in the features column is the fact that I find the varitone sounds the best on 1 or 2 and seems less useful on the higher numbers. This is unfair since most 335 style quality guitars do not even offer varitone. My Gibson gold top Les Paul with P90s was nice but it would not hold a tuning for a 50 minute set. Lucille stays in tune all night and into next month. Compared to other Gibsons, Lucille is not only a treat to play, she looks pretty good on anyone who straps her on. I bought her new in 2004 and she still feels like a new toyevery time I indulge. The thrill is ( never ) gone !

Guitar of Blues legend BB King plays itself!

By gibson4evar

from Mequon, WI

This guitar is the most incredible instrument I have ever seen, played, or owned. A hollow body guitar with a body of maple and a neck of ebony is no way to describe this guitar. It has nice action, a smooth feel, multiple controls for customized sound, and a stereo/mono output jack setup that allows you to plug into two amps. The tunable stop tailpiece is fantastic and allows you to tune the notes to a perfect pitch. Overall, I would rate this the best guitar out there.

I have own many Gibson's and some were lemons. Maybe I just got lucky here, but this "Lucille" was perfect right out of the box. Workmanship is superb and the setup was right on. Has the Les Paul tone and the 335 tone, the best of both worlds. Turn it up and no feedback, this ones a keeper.

Best Overall Guitar

By Bluesman Sammy Guy

I have been playing professionally for over 30 years and I own alot of Gibsons, mostly Les Pauls, but have wanted a Lucille ever since they came out. My wife purchased it for me this year for Christmas, and I may just sell off my Les Paul collection...well maybe a few. The Lucille is by far the smoothest, sweetest axe I have ever had the privilege of owning. I play everything from blues to metal to classics and oldies, and this one can do it all. It brought tears to my eyes as soon as I started playing it. And the price is unbelieveably low for such a highly prized instrument. I absolutely love this Gibson BB King Lucille. And you will too. Thanks Gibson, Thanks BB, and thanks, Sandy (my wifey).

Blues King

By RossBluesGuy

from Elk Point, SD

Wow! This is the greatest blues guitar of all time. 90% of what i play is the blues and i'll say that it doesn't sound any better than on this here guitar. If you love the blues this is the absolute perfect guitar for you. It is smooth and very user friendly in terms of playability. I would recommend getting this guitar if you are a blues man.

The Best Modern Gibson

By Matteo Alaretti-wZ0LQ

from Los Angeles, CA

I find this guitar to be the best Gibson mass-production model. That's not a very ringing endorsement, mind you! The guitar's Varitone is its best feature, giving instant versatility without having to adjust the amplifier. The tone woods, as they are with all Gibson guitars, below my standards. The tone was more than adequate to use in a performance (which I did), and the stereo function came in handy creating the dirty/clean Keith Richards-type set-up. The humbuckers are dissatisfying, especially given the price point. With some high-quality 'buckers, this could be the guitar that gets an aspiring blues artist through their recording and live gigs without a single hassle, though for the price, go to a luthier!
