I am going to give my first impressions about the guitar from the moment i got it.
1: arrived in the case, and looked smaller than i thought it was. i then put it against my previous guitar, and found it was a normal length
2: Smells!! the case it comes in, and the guitar itself do smell. really bad. but that is nothing to worry about, as it goes away after a couple of weeks.
3: while in the picture it may look like it is black at the edges, don't let that fool you. after close inspection i found the finish of the guitar on the back and edges is actually a very dark red. it looks really nice when in sunlight
4: cable jack really locks cable in place, making it harder to tug out than regular.
5: of course i had to replace the regular buttons with straploks. but i do that with every guitar.
Case is great thing to have, and looks really cool. only thing about it is that you can't have a strap on the guitar when its in the case, or it wont fit. Also i am a little upset they took away the combination locks from the new ones.
pickup is great, especially when clean, and gives you a sharper sound.
tone/volume knobs work great, and with them i don't really see why you would ever need a neck pickup.
guitar really gives great green day sound
overall, is great quality, and very sturdy. be careful with it though, because finish on pickguard can get scratched easily.
Yes, we all know that it is expensive. but thats what you have to pay for quality items. Really, for a long lasting, great sounding guitar such as this, i think it is well worth it. Having Billie Joe's name on it isn't just like paying that much more for it. The price is for all the modifacations and imorovement he made on the guitar to make it sound awesome.

I went to local shop looking to by a junior. I played the standard ones and this. There is no tonal difference whatsoever. Don't get me wrong I love the sound, but I gave it low scores because of the exagerrated pricing. It is basically the same guitar as the standard lp junior only twice as much because of the name on it. I suggest bying the standard lp junior which sounds just as good and is half the price. I did, and I am glad. The standard one sounds great, and is very simple and straight to the point. It has a great chunky and bright sound depending how you play it. I plugged into my mesa stiletto halfstack and was amazed.

Great For The Guitar That It Is

By LesPaul1978

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

Many players have the wrong idea about this guitar-"Only one pickup-Too expensive-Get the cheaper model" Blah Blah Blah. It's a great guitar for the money. Just what I was looking for-An LP Junior with a thin '60's neck, and a stacked humbucking P-90. The cheaper Jr. looks horrible, comes with a gig bag, and a regular excuse for a P-90(not even close). Tell Leslie West to get the cheap one, and see what he says. : )=

Lightweight Gibson with unique features

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

I checked out this guitar, because I wanted a lightweight USA Gibson with a P90 pickup. It seemed to meet all the requirements. The Custom Shop models are nice, but more expensive. Many Juniors are made with those fat 50's necks, which I don't like. This model is lightweight, has a 60's neck, a hot "H90" pickup. I bought mine in white, which comes with an ebony board. Nice!

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

Don't waste your money on this pile, this same exact guitar was released in the 60's as a beginner guitar, but with a better pickup. Look for a remake, even a vintage would be less than this, and you would actually get a nice guitar. The bolt on neck, so-so pickup, inferior wood choice, and badly finished neck give this guitar a cheap feel. The only reason the price is so high is because it has Billie Joe Armstrong's signature on it.

Great,,,,,Now

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

This is probably my fav guitar, and I have 4 Gibbys among others. But it didn't start out this way. When I got it, it had an annoying hum so off to the luthier I went and it's all good. Except the luthier said he couldn't intonate to his liking 'cause the bridge wasn't adjustable enough. I loved the tone of this guitar so I went on Ebay and got a Leo Quan Badass for about half price and got it installed with some new Fender 9-46 strings. Now it's terrific. If I had to choose between this and my red faded V it'd be close but maybe I'd go with Billie.

Stripped-Down Workhorse

By Anonymous

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

This guitar reminds me of the first les paul special copy that I got when I first started playing. EXCEPT it is build like a tank. Doesn't weigh a ton, but it is solid. Sound is bright and punchy, which is exactly what I was looking for. Not as much sustain as my LP Std, but didn't expect it to have it either. The hum cancelling "P-90" doesn't quite live up to the hum cancelling part of it's name. A bit annoying. Considering swapping it out. Have the 60's style neck on my LP STD and this feels the same. Fast and smooth. Decent access to upper frets, for a gibson. Feels small-bodied while playing it, but retains that solid feel. If you were ever thinking of buying a satin melody maker or LP junior, and doing some mods, but were hesitant because of "slapped-together" feel of low-end gibsons, this is for you. Except, that Billie Joe did a great job upgrading the mods that you might not have been able to do: better quality build, better finish, slim-taper neck, and P-90 Hum-cancelling (didn't quite hit the mark here). Overall. Outstanding guitar. Not very versitile, but does what it does and SOLIDLY.

Awesome Junior for a great price

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

This guitar can do it all...and with just one pickup! I've owned 13 Les Pauls, and this one sounds awesome clean, great distorted. All other Les Pauls have left me disappointed in one way or another (which leads to money spent on mods), but no complaints on this one. Plug in and play! Thick mahogany tone with a h-90 that stays true to the guitars sound. Those having tuning problems have never owned a "tilted headstock" Gibson. Remedy is easy: Properly install the strings..Lube up the nut slots with graphite (pencil lead) or Big Bends Nut Sauce, and viola! you will have no tunning issues. It's a plain and simple "meat and potatoes" rocking machine. So simple that if you can't make it happen with this guitar...you need take up the flute.

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

I tried out my friend's with the intention of buying it, but decided it wasn't worth the money. For one, it's way overpriced for the simplicity. Get a Gibson and replace the pick-up and you've got this guitar. I hated the neck, and while I'm a Green Day fan, I don't want someone else's name on my guitar. A bunch of kids will buy it cause theu like Billie Joe, but I like the Faded Doublecut that Jason White plays better. Or get an Epi and upgrade it. that's what i did.

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

My guitar was described as "slightly scratched" in the inventory but it arrived without a mark. The MF service rep was great and hooked me up quickly; even though at first it showed out of stock, he kept at it and found exactly what I was looking for. The guitar was double-boxed and arrived quickly. I am very impressed with Musician's Friend. The guitar itself really screams, like a Junior should. It compares very favorably to my vintage 57 Junior. Probably the best money I've ever spent on a guitar. Apparently they are discontinued but I hope they start making them again in the future

I would have to say overall it's a great guitar. Just be sure you know you're buying simple raw tone for a punk rock sound and not a shredding guitar. If you're into simplicity and rock'n'roll, it's a great guitar for you.

I was looking for a new les paul junior, and I came across this little baby, I must say I was very impressed. I played it through a marshall half stack. If you are a greenday fan, this guitar is for you. the h-90 is hum cancling, so there is no buzz when you plug it in, and you dont loose any tone. A great guitar for a great price.

    A Meat & Potatoes Guitar

    By Vern41

from Chicago - The one and only

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

Lets be honest here, this is a Les Paul Jr. This means one pickup (double stacked HP-90....LOUD) and 2 controls (VERY RESPNNSIVE). So if you are looking for that classic Gibson LP Tone, move on! This is a very bare bones basic guitar. This does not mean that the sound is poor, far from it. It delivers a classic meaty rock & roll tone without depriving the guitar of its natural tone that comes from a solid mahogany body with a thick, thick lacour finish. When compated to other Jr's it is comsiderably less in cost which makes it a bargain. This guitar is essentially a classic '57 Jr. in every shape and form. If you are a player who demands a high quality guitar, steller performance, outstanding tone, amazing playability, then purchase this. No, Billie Joe does NOT play this axe, he is playing authentic vintage Jr.'s which cost thousands more, but I doubt a artist such as himself would put his name on a product that does not live up to our or his expectataions.

    Rock'n'roll Simplicity

    By Mr. Knockin'

    from Hub City, South Carolina

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

First off- I should mention that I'm no raving fan boy. I'm not a fan of Green Day and personally think Billie Joe isn't the greatest person alive- especially since he worked with Bono. However, this is THE rock'n'roll guitar. I studied the guitar for hours and hours and pondered on it and finally decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I'm one of those people who're infected with the "restless rig syndrome" and yet I've decided to stick with this guitar- and I've owned a Gibson Explorer, Fender Esquire, Rickenbacker 360 & 330, and a Gibson goldtop. Finally, this simple slab of wood with a p-90 (OK, an h-90, the hum cancelling really works this time too!) has made up my mind. The features are few and simple, but you can achieve a very wide range of tonal possibilities just by playing with the volume and tone switches. You can make it sound anywhere between a Les Paul to a Telecaster. The parts are solid and top-notch and the finish is EXCELLENT. Though I myself am more of a fan of vintage sunburst, I decided on classic white (as you should too) because of the high quality ebony neck. Don't miss this deal! Pay half what you would for a Gibson Custom Shop LP Jr. that sounds exactly the same! I don't care how you feel about Green Day- Billie Joe knows his guitars!

    Impressed

    By Jay C.

    from Montreal QC

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

Well I was very skeptical about this guitar. I am not a fan of the signature models, usually over priced and sub standard in quality. But I was blown away but this one. I've been playing for 8 years, and I was planning to use this baby on stage. But once I recieved the guitar, I was floored by the finish. It's gorgeous (I got the tv sunburst). I finally got to plug it in and I was shocked at the raw growl and power you get from the H-90. I was concerned about the hum and buzz I usually get with P-90s, but this one truly is hum cancelling (unlike the 100s that claim and dont deliver). And your not loosing too much tone either. Very happy with that. I am playing out of a JCM 2000 through a 4X12. Sounds amazing blasted loud with gain at 4-5 and presence closer to 6. The volume and tone knobs on this thing give it so much versatility. This is by far my new fav guitar. I also play a early 90's Les Paul Classic, 97 US Fender FAT Strat, Epiphone SG, and BC Rich Warlock. Out of the gang, the Billie Joe Jr. is my new fav. But please try it out before buying. I went to a store and tried the black one. I hated the finish on that one. Looked cheap to me. And the sound on the one I used was mediocre. I got mine used off a friend and had a chance to try it out. Good Luck!!!

    Great Guitar

    By Austin B.

    from Huntsville, AL

Comments about Gibson Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Les Paul Junior Electric Guitar:

Ill start off by saying that this guitar, is one of the best signature models out there right now. You hardly see a good "Real" Les Paul Junior anymore, and its a Gibson. I recieved a "Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior" in "classic white" for Christmas, which I named the "LPJ". I personally like it because of its simple setup.... One Double Stack H90 Pickup, with 2 knobs. I love it. The only downside to the pickup is that even if the pickup has hum-canceling, when you face an amp "You-Are-Going" to get that buzz. Not as bad as though you didnt have humcanceling, but its there, remember this is 2 not one, 2 P90s stacked on top of each other. Which mean POWER and DISTORTIOn. This guitar is great for classic rock, because it does give you that 50's style rock and roll sound. Its also great for playing blues, if you turn your "tone knob to "0" then you will have a deep clean sound, that you can play blues on. I play a lot of Eric Clapton, Green Day, Black Sabbath, and Cream songs on this guitar, and it sounds great. Now for those out there who think this guitar isnt accurate.... it is. One I went to a local guitar store where I live, and I saw an ebony version of The Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Junior, there is a difference in the pickguard style. Thats it. The Sunburst and classic White both have earlier 50's pickguards, the ebony has a later 50's pickguard. So I know they worked with Billie Joe on this one. Also the case.... amazing. I love the lepeord fur on the inside, its different. Also the Green Day Emblem on the outside of the case dosent take up half of the case. In conclusion, this guitar is priced a little bit more than a studio, it also has the signature on the back of the headstock, and all that. Its a really good guitar, with a great sound, and quality. The price is a little high, but its a great guitar. And i play it everyday.
