    A custom-shop re-creation of the 1956 Paul

1956 was a big year for the Les Paul Goldtop. It was the first year that the Les Paul wore the Tune-O-Matic bridge bridge (aka ABR-1). This bridge design represented a major advance in functionality. It anchored the strings more solidly improving sustain, had adjustable saddles for better intonation, and thumbwheels allowed it to be raised or lowered for preferred action. It was in many ways the first modern Les Paul.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) series instruments., the 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS is handcraftedfor comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case and a certificate of authenticity.

    amazing perfect tone

Comments about Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar:

I've been a Strat guy all my life, still am. You can play any kind of music with it and I have 3 including a custom shop one. But I gave a test drive to this baby and I just could not resist, had to have it. It has such a warm sound and using a overdrive it gives you such a classic tone. I was going to get the 1957 vos, but there was something about the p90's that I loved. Careful tho' when using to much distortion, a noise reduction will get rid of it, but with a good OD pedal you can barely hear the noise. When clean it is just amazing: Fat, clean, bright... Perfect

    Great Gold Top!!!

Comments about Gibson Custom 1956 Les Paul Goldtop VOS Electric Guitar:

I purchased this guitar three weeks ago and it's been hard for me to put it down since. I also just got the 1954 Les Paul from the Custom Shop so it's a battle as to which one to play!!! I was very impressed with the VOS "aging" process the luthier's applied to this guitar. When I opened the case for the first time it felt like I just pulled it out of some closet or out from under some old man's bed. The patina of the finish, aging of the binding and pick up covers, etc., and the aged hardware really make it believable that it's a 60 year old guitar that was very well kept and Loved. Besides the appearence, it sounds really great and feels solid, smooth and pleasing too. The action is nice and low like the old man got it dialed in years ago then just changed strings as needed then wiping it down after playing it. That sound it gets......hmmmmmmm. It takes me back to a place that reminds me of the late 60's or early 70's. Can you say Creedence Clearwater Revival? Early Stones, Chuck Berry? Jimmy Page? Plug it into a hot amp and a pedal and BOOM!!!! Blow the roof off too!! It will get as clean as you want or as dirty as you want very easily. I bought this guitar for investment purposes but who says I can't play it at home or while recording once in a while when I need it's tone and sound? I highly recommend this guitar to the serious musician who knows the difference between modern and vintage tones. A great recording axe all the way!! You will not be disappointed.
