From the year Seth Lover's amazing humbuckers first hit the Les Paul.

The classic goldtop finish graces the top, while the back has a dark stain. The BurstBucker pickups on this Gibson 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback "VOS" (Vintage Original Spec) are precise copies of the original "Patent Applied For" versions that were the first dual-coil humbucking pickups ever produced in quantity. Their full, round, and versatile sound is as unique now as it was then. Classic carved maple top, solid (non-weight relieved) mahogany back, and one-piece mahogany neck generate the singing resonance that made the original one of the world's most sought-after guitars. Finish and hardware are gently aged to make it look exactly like the real McCoy. Early '50s rounded neck profile gives you something serious to hang onto.

Vintage Original Spec series instruments receive a special nitro-cellulose finish treatment yielding the patina of a gently-aged vintage guitar while handcrafting enhances comfort and playability. Each VOS model has a solid mahogany back; historically accurate long-neck tenon for strength and sustain; and period-correct neck profile, hardware, and electronics.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

    Words will never do justice!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback VOS Electric Guitar:

I own a couple and have played dozens of Gibson?s. The V.O.S. LPR7 is the most unbelievable example of guitar engineering and craftsmanship imaginable. I played the LPR8 and the LPR9 but the beefy neck, the resonance and sustain of the solid body maid my jaw drop. Honestly, I wasn?t crazy about the gold color at first but vintage look grows on you big time. The pick attack is perfect. Play gently and you have an awesome smooth tone, but when you really dig in, it growls like a beast. You came tame it very easily by backing off the volume knob. Solo time, full throttle and aim it towards your amp and look out. It blows my mind and the bands every time. It?s a lot pricier than a Standard but worth every nickel and a million more. I know it?s a lot of money, but if you bite the bullet and buy one, you will never regret it.

    Beautiful Guitar

    By FrakturGuitarGuy

Comments about Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Darkback VOS Electric Guitar:

I got mine just before Christmas. It's a beautiful guitar and plays great. The finish is flawless and man does it howl. I've wanted the Les Paul sound for a while and this one delivers. The electronics are top notch: bumblebee pots, versatile Burstbucker pickups. The only minor problem I had was that the volume knob on the bridge pickup was only loosely fitted to the stem. I had to put teflon tape on the stem to get the knob to seat tightly. The guitar is made to look like a mint condition 50 year old Goldtop, complete with faded yellowed trim along the fretboard, mildy rubbed off Rhythm and Treble text around the pickup selector and foggy chrome on the tailpiece and pickups. I could do without that stuff (when I buy a new guitar I want the chrome to shine like a mirror!!) but that's just a personal preference. Anyway, it's my dream guitar and it looks awesome on stage!!
