Gibson Custom

The original classic, with its famous finish and thick-yet-biting tone.

The two-pickup Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, positioned between the low-cost Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul. It was originally available only in a single-cutaway, TV-style limed mahogany finish. A double-cutaway Special and cherry red finish option were introduced in 1959. The 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway is now part of Gibson's Vintage Original Spec series.

Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1960 Les Paul Special Single Cutaway VOS is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. Includes Gibson Custom Shop case and a certificate of authenticity.

This Guitar is just Great its very comfortable to play and has killer Blues sound with the P90's. Keith Richards uses this Guitar recording Beast of Burden. This is a Guitar every musician should have just to unwind and Jamout with at the end of the day.

This was one of my "dream" guitars. It's perfect right out of the box and it's an incredible guitar. I play Blues for a living and this guitar is perfect for what I do. Everything about this guitar is absolutely perfect. A lot of people complain about the prices of the VOS guitars but, all you need to do is try one and you'll quickly see that they're in a whole different league than the regular production models.

I bought this guitar just about a year ago. The key feature for me was the fatter 1959 rounded neck profile; the double cut version has the thinner 60's neck. If the double cut version had the fatter neck I'd buy one of them too. From the day I took her out of the box, she's given me what I need & what I want.  She feels right in my hands and I have zero complaints.   The build is solid, and the fit and finish are first rate. Seriously, this is the first guitar I've owned that didn't need the services of a tech to iron out a bug or two... there were/are no (zero) bugs here.     Look, its been a year, and I still get shivers from her sustain, bite, and growl.. when I roll off the treble and volume she can do jazz-clean like there's no tomorrow.. This one's a keeper for sure.
