As close to an original '60 as you can get in a sought-after historically correct color.
The Gibson Custom Shop 1960 Les Paul VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Plain Top Electric Guitar is a beautiful Les Paul that you'll want in your collection. In 1960, the Les Paul Standard still had the carved maple top with burst finish and Burstbucker pickups of its predecessors with an added slim-tapered neck for a decidedly different feel. This 1960 Reissue Les Paul captures the essence of the original guitar accurately and in great detail.
The one-piece mahogany neck is topped with a gorgeous rosewood fretboard that's adorned with acrylic trapezoid inlays with shape and color true to the original. BurstBucker 1 and 2 pickups deliver famous vintage LP tone. Gibson includes a hardshell case with your reissue Les Paul.
As if that weren't enough, this Limited Edition features the highly sought after, historically correct lemonburst finish or dark burst finish. With the plain top, you really get the full effect of these rich, gorgeous colors. This guitar's hardware is not only period correct, but has been given Gibson's popular aged treatment. Get all the benefits of a new guitar with a killer lived-in look that will inspire thoughts of past guitar greats as you pour out your soul.
Gibson's Custom Shop produces some of the finest electric guitars on earth. Using the best materials money can buy, a staff of skilled luthiers reproduce some of the greatest Gibson Les Pauls of the past and create stunning new instruments for players and collectors who demand the best.
Like all VOS (Vintage Original Spec) Series instruments, the 1960 Les Paul VOS Plain Top Aged Hardware is handcrafted for comfort and playability in the Gibson Custom Shop. The construction, neck profile, hardware, and electronics are period accurate, and a special nitrocellulose finish treatment gives it the patina of a gently aged vintage guitar. There isn?t much more I can say that hasn?t already been said. I own the Dark Burst and I would be hard-pressed to find another Les Paul that can compare to this beauty. There has been some slanted advertizing by some dealers claiming that this guitar is less than worthy in terms of its status as an authentic reissue. To the contrary, based on Gibson?s specification, this exclusive dealer R-0 instrument is a marvelous reissue of the actual early 1960s production of the Plain Top Burst Les Paul, supported by both Gibson Technical Service and as presented in ?The Beauty of the Burst? by Yasuhiko Iwanade.
I play mainly blues, and this is the BEST sounding guitar I have ever played. I own three Gibson Customs and a handful of Fender Customs, and they are no match for this bad boy. The neck is simply perfect. Get it. Now. You will love it forever.
I've had this guitar for a few years now - Lemonburst Finish. Funny thing is, I can confirm I have the exact one pictured on this site because of the wood grain patterns on front and back. My first Custom Shop Gibson. Incredible guitar - it's my "go-to" guitar. The 60s neck is fast. Easy for bending. I play though a Marshall DSL 50 head. Bridge pickup screams. Great for rock, blues or metal. Neck pickup has that perfect smooth Les Paul sound. Sustain forever. Buy this guitar. It's not much more than a new standard.
There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said: this LP gives the classic tones that you love and plays beautifully. I run it to a Vox tube amp and I keep the extras to a minimum so I can preserve that clean sound. One feature that I can say that hasn't been mentioned and is not listed is that it has bumblebee capacitors, which was a nice surprise. If there is anything to complain about, it's that it has some trouble staying in tune, but I hope that changing to Ernie Balls will fix that. When leaving the shop with it, everyone told me to never let it go.I?m sure it?s one I?ll cherish for years to come.
My first custom shop guitar from Gibson. What can I say? Great guitar, lovely finish, lovely attention to detail. The only that sucked about it was the strings used: vintage reissues from Gibson, not really my cup of tea but hey not a big deal, you can replace 'em anyways.
This is one of the best electrics I've ever played and certainly the Queen of my personal collection. Her sweet PAFs can slide through a Jazz tune like butter one minute, and deliver searing, Allman-esque tones the next. The thin profile neck allows your hand to hug tight in for slide and rhythm while still giving great purchase for wailing bends. My only complaint is a common one for LP players: she's one heavy chevy. But hey, whos says you have to stand up to rock?
The BEST Gibson out there, I Have the Tobacco Burst I love it. I've had mine for about a year. I got the case for free and 20% off (Day after thanksgiving Sale)It is 1000 times better sounding and looking than a standard. All I can Say is buy it, buy it right now, you won't regret it!
I have played and owned many fine acoustic and electric guitars. It's difficult to find those special instruments that have the tone, playability and quality that is so important to players and collectors. This one has it all! Grab one while they are available and while the quality is still there from the Gibson Custom Shop. It has the classic rock tone and everything to go with it. Great neck and action. Dark Burst finish is really nice. I'm finished searching. It's the best Les Paul out there, in my opinion. It's not flashy.....it's vintage and it blows everything else away.
If you love Les Pauls, then you got to check out one of these bad boys. I have the dark burst and it is beautiful. I have no complaints with this guitar. I just got back from my trip to New York City where I went and seen Les Paul perform. I stayed after the show to get his autograph on my guitar. When I got the guitar out he was amazed. He thought the guitar was beautiful and he loved the way it played. I was blown away. Les Paul autographed and loved my Les Paul. It doesn't get much better than that.
What a fantastic instrument! I have owned several high end instruments and none have really captured the sound that I was looking for. As soon as I plugged this guitar into the amp, I was sold. It has the true burstbucker bite and growl that you can only get when attached to a chunk of mahogany like this one. The attention to detail is superb. In my opinion, it's far superior to a production Les Paul standard. The setup was spot on. It plays like a dream and the sound is remarkable. I have to quit typing and go play it.
