OVERVIEW

A Custom Shop marvel with the fleet feel and luxury looks of the fastest 335 ever.

The precision Gibson Custom Shop 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar is identical in every way to the original. In mid-1962 Gibson's fantastically popular thinline semihollow wonder machine adopted a thinner, faster neck profile and gorgeous pearloid block inlays to enhance the rosewood fretboard. The reissue Gibson 1963 ES-335 guitar is made on the original forms by some of the world's finest luthiers.

This model benefits from Gibson Custom's 20th Anniversary Specifications, newly adopted for 2013. These include a one-piece rosewood fingerboard, Kluson Deluxe machine heads, hot-hide glue neck fit, a Historic Truss Rod assembly with no tubing, accurate body and fingerboard binding color and new Custom Buckers created in the image of the original PAFs. Includes case.

Killer ES-335!

By Anonymous

Comments about Gibson Custom 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar:

While this reissue isn't quite historically accurate in some regards - it should, for example, have the serial number impressed on the back of the headstock, a wire retainer bridge with nylon saddles, double ring tuners, etc. - it's a killer guitar in its own right and actually feels much closer to vintage than its Memphis-made counterparts. The neck profile is perfect - not super skinny or clubby - and the guitar really sings.

Not perfectly reisssued for a reason

By JStrat-wQoim

Comments about Gibson Custom 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar:

The reason why Gibson doesn't (and won't) make their reissues exactly the way Gibson made them back in their original years is because scammers will try to sell them off as originals. It's a problem Gibson and it's loyal customers have been facing for years now. They don't mean to insult anyone with a sharp eye. Like Grandma giving away her secret recipe everyone loves ... she'll always leave out an ingredient or two!!! They're still some of the best instruments Nashville is making ... even without all the perfections.

Comments about Gibson Custom 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar:

I generally prefer the vintage instruments to reissues, but this guitar was very impressive. The set up was great, the sound was incredible, and the action was tremendous. I played it through a vintage Marshall Plexi, and a 1987X it sounded excellent through both for the Blues, Rock stuff. I also played it through a 1965 Twin Reverb for Jazz... WOW, I mean this is an excellent sounding guitar. The semi-hollow body delivers big, full, sound while remaining clean and warm. When playing some old Blues this git-fiddle sounds absolutely creamy and delicious through any old Marshall, or reissue I didn't use any effects because you really do not need to, this guitar has it all. The 335 also delivers incredily wonderful, warm tones for Jazzy material. This truly is a well rounded instrument that will be cherished for years to come.

set up was horrible but?

Comments about Gibson Custom 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar:

I was just sent a brand new hand made custom shop maple vintage sunburt es 335 directly from the USA factory to my home. I own 9 other guitars all top end but this beats my strats, and other customs by a mile. I was very disappointed with the setup though as I expected, it was not set up. The card said the intonnation, and everything was done but it was unplayable. Took it to my tech and he spent an hour on it and now it plays like a dream. Best guitar I have ever had in 30 years of playing.

Comments about Gibson Custom 1963 ES-335 Historic Block Reissue Electric Guitar:

I have too many guitars. We all know the drill. But when I came across this baby, Custom Shop and all, there was no stopping me. I just love the neck profile, feels like my second favorite guitar, a 1980 Les Paul Custom. I have kind of big skinny hands that just get all bunched up if the neck is too small.. Fit and finish are very nice, although one knob has a crack which is lame of the Custom Shop to let that go. This might be the last guitar I buy - I don't know what I could find that would make me happier, already owning two Pauls. It's also an investment - good as money in the bank. In five years I bet I could at least get what I paid, if not a profit. In ten years, definitely a profit. Thanks for reading my ramblings, go practice your scales now!!!
