Comments about Gibson Custom 2014 1958 Mahogany Explorer Lightly Aged Electric Guitarl:

I felt like a little child on Christmas morning when the package was delivered. The first thing I noticed when opening the case was the artificial aging. What was described as lightly aged in advertisement and what was seen on the guitar in my mind was not accurate. I have a thirty-four year old Les Paul Heritage I bought brand new in 1981. My LP has some road history wear and tear but nothing compared to this Explorer that the manufacturer describes as "lightly aged". It is hard for me to wrap my head around artificial aging. I plugged it in and was immediately happy with the tone and bite of the custom bucker pickups. Put a little dirt on it and the guitar sustained all week long. The neck feels like a halved baseball bat. I like it. I'll keep the guitar. It plays that well that I can live with the artificial aging. I would have gave the guitar five stars except for the aging special feature. I prefer a brand new looking finish on a brand new guitar that I would put real wear and tear on it myself.

Comments about Gibson Custom 2014 1958 Mahogany Explorer Lightly Aged Electric Guitarl:

This guitar is almost perfect. The fat neck feels great in hand. The custom bucker pickups have great bite and great clarity. The only minor con for me is that the neck is a little heavier than the body so when you're strapped in, it's slightly imbalanced. But other than that, this instrument is top notch.
