Perfect re-creation of the holiest of grails.
When goldtop sales began to decline, Gibson responded in 1958 with a transparent cherry sunburst finish to show off the Les Paul's beautiful maple top. Thus was born the Standard, a guitar that the market has deemed the most desirable in history. The only change for the '59 version was wider, fatter frets for cleaner fretting and easier bends. This Gibson Custom Shop 59 Les Paul, with carved plain maple top, solid mahogany back, burstbuckers, thin toggle washer and jack plate, nickel hardware, aluminum stopbar, early '50s rounded neck with long tenon, CTS pots, and bumblebee caps, is indistinguishable from the real McCoy if you could step back in time and pick one up new.

Amazing! Totally better than a disgusting archtop (I hate archtops with every thing i am) I play this all the time live or in the studio. I've played with such bands as Buddy Miles ( of Jimi Hendrix ), Ozzy Osbourne, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Motley Crue, Iggy Pop, Slash, Steppenwolf, The Super Sexies, Alice Cooper and Blue Cheer and they have all commented on how nice it looked, except for buddy miles and blue cheer, who I played with in the early seventies, before i bought it. I played with Motley recently, and Ozzy in the eighties. Slash i played with in 1995, and Steppenwolf on their recent tour. Iggy Pop in 1979, and i also met AC/DC the same year. I now manage the Super Sexies.
This guitar is absolutely amazing!! I have the Gibson Custom Shop Washed Cherry 59', with a killer flame top. It is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen or played. It is also very easy to play and with the fatter frets, it has outstanding string bending capability. It truly is the "Holy Grail" of electric guitars. Gibson is making it's best instruments in it's long and famous history.
