Comments about Gibson Custom Firebird Custom Acoustic Guitar:

I received my Custom Firebird in mid-December after much indecision, contemplation and research. Upon opening the box and case I was not disappointed. The Firebird was everything that I expected. The beauty, quality and workmanship was superb. I had consulted with Chris Swope at Private Reserve on more than one occasion for information and he answered all of my questions and concerns with openness, honesty and knowledge. He was was very helpful in my decision to make the purchase sight unseen.
I had been the previous owner of a Gibson J45, a Gibson hollow body electric, and had played both the Hummingbird and Dove. So I was familiar with the Gibson name.
The sound quality and playability is exceptional and The Firebird will make a great companion to my Martin D-35.
My only disappointment was that I could not get the ebony fretboard or bridge which Chris had informed me of in advance. (Gibson should update their specs). Rosewood is still an acceptable substitute. Also. I elected to have factory installed strings thinking they would be Gibson's recommended choice. Don't know what they were but the wound strings went dead after about the 3rd day. Not a big thing but I bought some of my favorite tried and tested Martin phosphor bronze strings to replace them.

      This Bird Flies High

      By James in Texas

      from Austin, Texas

Comments about Gibson Custom Firebird Custom Acoustic Guitar:

Stumming the guitar is a pleasure. Each string seems to sing on its on. Chording the guitar lets it ring on the high end with the bass in the background, if that made any sense. The maple seems to push the sound to the front of the mix. The only other guitar that seems to do that for me is the Martin D-28.There is NOTHING is dislike about this guitar.
Solid AAA-grade Sitka Spruce and AAA-grade maple back and sides and OMG inlay this puppy is a jangle machine. The workmanship and the quality of this guitar will put into legend status as the J-200.
Everyting about this guitar screams quality. The maple back and sides bring this guitar to the front of the line. When I play this thing on stage it just oozes a million dollars with a sound that backs up its looks. The inlay on the fretboard and bound headstock and neck are flawless. Yep, I am gushing here and not embaressed to do so.
Like I said above this guitar will be one of those, I wish I had one of the Gibson Firebird Custom guitars. Try one, sold within 5 minutes.

      Wow

Comments about Gibson Custom Firebird Custom Acoustic Guitar:

I went to the Gibson factory in Memphis and had the pleasure of trying this thing out. At first glance, the guitar is a beauty. The fretboard fire inlays are amazing, and the engraving on the pickguard is really cool too. It was easily the best looking guitar there (among Monarchs and Doves and the like). It wasn't really over the top with the extras, but still beautiful. It plays amazing. Its so smooth and it sounds incredible. Strumming and fingerpicking both sound amazing. Deep resonant lows and bright highs. One thing that really stuck out was that when playing a chord, you could hear every note, individually. The only down side is the price. But if I had the money to buy this, I would, in a second.

Could be better, but not much

      By JCkiller

Comments about Gibson Custom Firebird Custom Acoustic Guitar:

My wife bought me this guitar for my first Father's Day last year. At the time it was 1 of 30 made. It truly is one of the most beautiful guitars I have ever seen or played.Features: Great inlays and beautiful wood and color. The one I got did not have a pickup and so I had to have one installed. If it had come with a pickup features would have been a 10.Quality: The sound is amazing, the tuners stay in tune, just the way a $3000 guitar should be.Value: What can I say $3000 is expensive, but I personally have not heard a better sounding guitar.Overall: Buy it if you like it. Not too many others better than this one, for other expensive guitars you are paying for the artists name, this is expensive because it sounds great and is gorgeous.
